Another forehand winner to seal it.

What a last 3 sets from Nadal. One thing I won't lie about that I like: Rafa looks genuinely happy to be in the 4th round, like he's not just taking it for granted that he's this far. He knows he struggles on grass and every win is huge for him. That's humility and I have to respect that. Look how elated he looks.

You cannot be serious!!! Nadal has 5 finals and 2 titles; for someone who struggles on grass, not bad. What does Djoker have at Wimby? 2 finals and 1 title, Murray, 2 finals and 1 title.

You cannot be serious man, You cannot be serious.

So he should revert back to his pushing style then???:confused::confused:

Lack of comprehension much? I said stop making a big deal out of Nadal hitting more winners than Kukushkin cause it sorta EXPECTED FROM HIM, you know?

It's like I drooled over Federer outrallying Roddick on clay.

Have you been living under a rock the last few years? Yeah he's been successful at Wimbledon, but he has definitely struggled on grass since 2012. What part of that don't you get?

Jesus, I go out of my way to compliment Nadal and you still have an issue. Nadal fans in a nutshell: not happy until you're 100% behind Nadal in every way imaginable.

Why do Nadal haters keep commenting on Nadal's match thread??? If they hate him so much why do they still come onto a thread that reminds them Nadal's existence in this world???

It's all genetics, every other tennis player who'd continue playing the way Nadal does would be long retired by his age. Dr Fuentes can do miracles, ain't that right?

Dr Fuentes has been performing miracles for Nadal since the junior days. I don't blame him. You gotta dope to beat the big drug abuser from Basel.

If you hate Nadal stop watching his games. There is only one reason why these so called haters are glued to his every move, deep down they LOVE him and this is just the adolescent why they have of expressing that love.

You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.' "But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.…

That's why Nadal fans are making a big deal out of Nadal hitting more winners than friggin Kukushkin of all people, haha.

Sorry, but you are completely wrong. For example, Nadal had more winners than Djoker in the FO final. Also in that match Nadal had more winners than unforced errors while Djoker had more unforced errors than winners.

This is typical when playing a superior player you can't hang with. You end up going for broke b/c the longer the point progresses the more in trouble you are. Result is having winners but at the expense of racking up UE.

Yup, it's the truth as long as you believe in it.

I don't. Just messing with you, passionate Nadal hater. But you know what? You can't fight the fight for Federer. If he'd been a better tennis player he'd have won more times against Nadal and you wouldn't be hating him for beating your god so many times.

I got no problem with that, Federer is generation older and they played a lot of the times on clay until recently at least. You do know that Nadal is gonna get old too? He's no expection. You're gonna see one huge spurt of hate once he starts losing more.

Nadal will know when to stop unlike you know who.

Pretty much that the only non-white player who is given any kind of respect on this board is Gael Monfils -- and even then it's only because he's a funny clown who doesn't win much.

If Monfils actually truly challenged the top white players, you'd see a revolt against him from the Federer, Murray, Djokovic, and Dimitrov fans.

so you count Nadal as non-caucasian?
not sure I understand

In terms of what most racists think caucasian to mean, yes.

His sister is blonde.
He is Caucasian who can tan. Unlike the lobster variety :)

Many people in Italy, France, Spain and Greece have skin like Rafa's. Probably not in the UK and Germany but I personally prefer the tan skin:oops:
which makes him better than Murray :)

Fed is similar to Rafa in the sense that he could get brown if he wishes.

Kush will win 7-6 6-2 6-4!

Kukushkin is about to Rosol Nadal

Way to go Kush! That BH DTL punishes Nadal all the time! Match 7-6 6-2 6-4 Kush!

What? Rafa lost 1st set again? I'm not Federer but I'm gonna laugh about it for ten minutes haha

How predictable Nadal took a "bathroom break" after losing the first set. Absurd.

Nadal already starting in on the gamesmanship...

Yes and now Nadal will take more time, he will be coached by Uncle Toni, and he will take some sort of untimely break.

Rosol was NOT a nobody, Kukushkin is! Nadal will lose.

Nadal hits all balls to the center. Only 4 UEs in set1, and still losing. Call that pushing, I do!

I have little doubt that Nadal will go on to win this match. But this sort of dirty tactics is the reason many old timers have never really warmed up to Nadal, despite him winning almost everything. Play the game the way it was intended, win or lose.

Then Nadal breaks for 3-1 in set 2

Well there goes the match.

And then they disappeared

6-7, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 Nadal

I watched this match.

First set was heavily serve dominated, mainly because Nadal forgot this was grass and returned short and weak. Kukushkin answered with hard flat strokes to hold serve every time and there was no break points for each player. Tie break was decided by a couple of bad points played by Nadal and a couple of good ones played by Kuku.

The last 3 sets, Nadal started returning well, particularly off his BH side which typically has more compact backswing and put pressure on Kukushkin who seemed to injure his knee after a nasty fall to add insult to injury. Nadal cruised through 2 sets and was a break up until Kuku created 2 BPs with some brilliant shots, only to waste it with sloppy errors. After that the outcome was expected and Nadal broke once more and served out the match, his forehand becoming flatter and more penetrating as the match went on.

Nadal finally into second week of Wimbledon with much wear and tear on the center court baseline and his forehand on fire (I believe 3 unforced forehand errors all match). The second week will be interesting for sure.

That is too good :D

Insane shot from that position.
Didn't get to see the match. Anyone can give me a quick update?
I hear Kukush fell and hurt his knee. When was that? And how much is the one-sided score in the set 2, 3 and 4 due to that and how much is simply due to Nadal raising his level again?

Nadal's trajectory at Wimbledon this year reminds me of 2006, 2007 and 2011. He already lost sets to three players. In 2008 he only lost sets to one player before the final. In 2010 he lost sets to two players before the final. He is not following the same trajectory of 2008 and 2010 this year. He might lose before the final as well.

Couldn't see the match. But I was watching this extended highlights video, and it seemed as if Nadal in the second set suddenly thought "OMFG! I just noticed I can return down the line too!" :D

Anyway... it wasn't a straight set victory after all, but it was as convincing as a 4-set victory can be.

Next up Kyrgios, should be fun.

Going by previous years to measure whether a player will win is stupid. For example, Nadal lost to Ferrer in Monte Carlo, Almagno in Barcelona, won Madrid on a technicality, and lost to Djokovic in Italy. Those are tournaments (and aside from Djokovic), players he normally owns.

Yet who was in the winner's circle in Paris?

I don't know if Rafa will win Wimbledon or not, but saying that just because he has lost a set to each player so far the won't win is just dumb.

In 2006, like in 2008, Nadal only lost sets to one player before the Wimbledon final.

Just saw your post. There was never any doubt in the outcome of the match. I find it curious that you did not mention anything about Nadal taking a bath room break after losing that first set. Calling out Nadal's dirty tactics like this one or his routine slow play does not equate to hating Nadal. Get over yourself.
