Since this match is now so over-hyped, I think there is immense pressure now on Rosol to produce the tennis he did in 2012. Rosol can act like he doesn't feel it, but I'm sure he does. All he's been doing is answering questions about this matchup for two weeks.

For that reason, I cannot see Rosol being able to enter the mental zone he did in 2012.

On the other hand, Nadal has exited Wimbledon early for the last two years. Haters say he's done on grass and expect him to lose in early rounds. Fans are worried about grass decline and expect him to lose in early rounds. So no pressure on Nadal.

For those reasons, Nadal in 4.

Really good point.

Nadal will come out guns blazing for this match, mark my words.... the Winners and UEs count in the first set or two will be freakish, and we will never see the likes of it again....

You think Rosol has pressure? Could you imagine if Nadal lost to him again?

Nadal hated losing to Rosol. So much so that he shoulder checked him at a change over and contracted a 7 month case of Rosolitis. To this day, Nadal still won't give Rosol credit for his win.

If Nadal loses to him again tomorrow, he should be put on suicide watch.

Nadal and Rosol played each other at Qatar and Rosol put up a reasonable fight. Took match winning breaker to 9-7.

See, this is one very important factor. In almost every way, I think Nadal is the easy favourite and should win, no question. But that Rosol match was unique in that it really got to Nadal. If it still bothers him, there's no reason why he couldn't lose to Rosol again.

Even the best have weakness and maybe Rosol is Nadal's. Who knows?

Has anyone noticed that Nadal's return this year in round 1 is so much better than his 2013 and 2012 return? To me, this is the key factor against Rosol. If Nadal can return well then Rosol basically has nothing on Nadal. And it will be a routine victory for the KOC.

I can just see where this match is going. If the likely outcome (being a relatively straight forward Nadal win) happens, the VB will be out in force to discredit Rosol's win from 2012. I'd then tell them to be humble like Nadal but he's already discredited Rosol's win.

What a guy!

You must have such a bad opinion of Fed, who discredited all of the wins other players got against him last year.

Rafa also hated losing to Soderling at RG. If anything more so, since they had a history of animosity and, well, it was RG.

Didn't have a bearing on their final there the year after.

Rafa will be playing with two knees this time. He won't have one numbed by injected analgesics this year which will allow him to run normally. Rafa in 3.

I wonder how Nadal will prepare for this match mentally and if he changes his game tactics for this match. He should win on paper though.

I wasn't sure whether I believed you, and then I heard Nadal refer to his knee several times in the post match interview above (about 3 min video).

Thanks for the link – I hardly every watch these compulsory interviews where players are required to go through the motions to avoid fines and bad press. Nadal is pure class – not a word about his knee injury, no badmouthing of the opponent or making up stories about fake back injuries – a refreshing contrast to sore loser Federer, one might add:lol:

thanks for reminding me of why SoBad has rightfully earned a place on my ignore list. Wolf indeed

The forum hasn’t quite been the same without your spamming these past couple of days. Crushed by the Nadal RG or just saving energy for the second week of Wimbledon?

" If you put an infinite number of monkeys in a room on typewriters, one of them is destined to bang out a novel. This is then followed up by other concepts like; if that monkey did bang out a novel, what are the chances they would bang out another one?"

We have a similar monkey typewriter situation here.:D

Rosol will be playing injured this time, so yes, undoubtedly Rafa in 3. If he was fully healthy, there is not telling what may have happened

You're operating under the false premise that Rosol is a monkey, figuratively speaking, and that beating Nadal on grass is as probabilistically rare as churning out a novel from random typewriter clicks ;)

That is more a commentary on the post quaility from Massage-gang on this forum.

Is it more than just a coincidence that Isner and Mahut were drawn to play each other in the 1st round again at Wimbledon the very next year after the marathon match and now Rafa and Rosol are drawn again in the 2nd round at Wimbledon, just two years after Rafa lost to Rosol?

I sniff a fix in the draw.

I don't really see any connection to Lukas Rosol being a monkey on a typewriter.

Of course draws are fixed. You don't leave a multi-billion dollar business to chance.

Really nervous about this match.
Watched the highlights of Rafa-Rosol Doha match last night, and even that one was very close. Rosol had a chance to serve for the 2nd set. And that one was on Hard Courts, on which Rafa has been pretty good since last year.
On Grass, it's a totally different story :?

The draws are at the very least to some degree fixed, yes.

I was in Doha at that match and Rafa dominated the 1st set before Rosol rallied round. Rafa was not at his best in Doha, he even lost a set to Gogowhat's his name.

Rosol is going to be nervous because this time he has got something to lose.

Nadal is going to win, I'm sure. But I've already said that.
