Wimbledon 2016 doubles

Anyone interested in the doubles?? Seen some snippets of good matches already.

Just watched Watson & Broady win their second round match.

Murray Soares up in their second round match next.

Pospisil Sock 1 set a piece in their first round.

Bryan bros up a set in second round.

Keys & Stephens about to start their first round together v 5th seeds Babos & Shvedova.

Lots of other doubles matches going on today too. There are second rounds going on while first rounds are yet to be played, presumably due to quite a few players trying to get their singles matches in too.

Ahh yes thanks for the reminder to check when they're playing, already halfway into first set on court 16, first round v Pouille and Mannarino - it's going up on the iPad now
 
In the womans right now it looks like Makarova is wearing black socks which could mean the end of the world.
 
I'm rooting for Murraysaurus and for Herbert/Mahut.

Unfortunately Herbert/Mahut are probably going to get screwed in doubles because of doing well in singles.

Murray Soares trying to take the 5th in their third round. After winning the first 2 sets not really sure what happened there.

Broady and Watson knocked out by 8th seeds Goerges Pliskova.

Mahut Herbert into the third round.

Hewitt Thompson taken out in the men's by Pospisil Sock.

Hingis Mirza into the QFs.

Madison & Sloane went out in their first round :( Bryans are in though!
 
Third round Murray Soares v Pavic Venus suspended for bad light, 13-13 in the fifth set. Match has been going for nearly 5 hours...
 
why were paes and hingus unseeded at french and 16 seed here. They have been playing together for awhile and have won other majors

Depends on their doubles ranking, whilst Hingis is number 1 in doubles, I believe Paes is way down the male doubles list. They add the 2 together so Hingis would be 1 + whatever Paes is. So essentially you want a high numbered male and female to be top seeded. E.g. Mirza (#1 womens) + Dodig (#15 mens) = 16 rank.

While Hingis is #1, Paes is #55 so together they have a ranking of 56 which just gets them seeded
 
John Peers and Henri Kontinen are really coming into their own. Defeated Bopanna/Mergea in the 3R in 5 sets despite having lost their only other match against the pairing. As a result they are in the QF. Peers was a finalist here last year so lots of points to defend whilst Kontinen has none to defend so his ranking can only go up which is great for the pairing.
 
Glad to see Murray Soares got through in the fifth set earlier.

Are the Bryan bros gonna run away with their fifth now...
 
Atawo (formerly Kops-Jones) and Spears through to the ladies QF. Good for them, showing why they should be picked for the Olympics alongside the Williams sisters. Thats of course assuming the USA gets 2 doubles slots.

CoCo Vandeweghe confirms she’s on the US Olympic team for doubles. Will be a formidable pairing with Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

Herbert Mahut win in 4 over Kontinen Peers.

Klaasan & Ram knock out the Bryan Bros in 3 sets

Mirnyi & Huey beat Marray and Shamasdin in 3.

Benneteau Roger-Vasselin and Murray Soares into a fifth, after Murray Soares take sets 3 and 4 in tie breaks.

what do you mean? They are still active in the Womens draw, they are in the QF. Or do you mean the Olympics? As far as I know if they want to play they will be selected as the doubles team unless they somehow haven't met the fed cup requirement. I am just wondering what the 2nd team will be...Mattek Sands is ranked higher...but who would she partner? I don't see them splitting up Spears and Atawo.

All credit to spystud here, guess you might have him on block.

Coco is playing with Mattek Sands and Spears/Atawo are the 2nd pairing which is what has made me question if the Williams sisters will be playing doubles.

Ahhhh...I have to go through my block list I don't recall blocking them.

My guess is maybe Venus didnt want to play doubles for health concerns or Serena wanted to focus on singles.
 
Mladanovic just hit a 2nd serve that was so slow it didnt register a speed. And she won the point
 
all American womens doubles final? what are the odds of Atawo/Spears knocking out Shvedova/Babos in the SF? Atawo and Spears seem to be playing well...although they haven't had any particularly difficult opponents except in the QF. Serena/Venus have Vesnina and Makarova...that could go either way...then Pliskova/Georges. Wonder if it could happen.

Into a third set for the men's wheelchair doubles. Nice to see on BBC2.

All French final coming up in a moment, looking forward to it. Do like Herbert Mahut a good doubles team, probably the favourites I imagine, should be a good one though.
 
Glad the GB guys won the wheelchair doubles :) missed the end of that.

Watson/Kontinen Marach/Ostapenko into first set tie break in their mixed doubles semi.

Men's doubles final coming up.
 
Just a quick question, didn't know where else to post this...

Is there/has there been any doubles team that don't high-five/bump fists/whatever after every point? Is there any doubles team that don't do it at all?

Just seems so weird that they all do it after every point, it almost seems like it's a rule.
