Yeah it's fun to read in hindsight but match was very heavy for me to watch while it happened. I almost wanted to vomit when Novak got broken for the 2nd time in the 5th set, just to laugh hysterically after he saved those CPs and broke back. Then that game at 11-11, from 40-0 up to BP for Federer and how Novak saved it by rushing the net... Insane match. I can't imagine how it felt to actually play it.
Fed was an idiot for not breaking there. It was his last chance to win the match. Got handed a way out on a silver platter but messed it up again

That's too harsh. He didn't have much angle and played hard to Novak's fh, which won him the points several times before in similar situations. This time Novak guessed and moved to cover the fh timely but still had to control very difficult volley. If Novak didn't move to cover the fh it would be a clean passing shot or almost impossible volley. It was not a perfect play choice in hindsight but that's faulty reasoning.

Very tense from start to finish, wasn't fun at all. Wanted to punch Novak through the screen when he smirked at 11-11 after saving a break point. Dude was smiling while I was shaking like an epileptic LOL.

I have no interest in rewatching it again. Except the 8-7 game and the final tiebreak maybe.

Agree 100%. I tried to watch a whole match again but couldn't do it. Watching it made me nervous as if they're still playing. Kept skipping the parts when Novak was passive and disinterested.

Not at the grass. The grass is an overview of Stan's worst surface, Wimbledon is the only GS tournament where Stan has not reached at least SF participation and is unlikely, that this fact to change in the future.
The grass could be described as the only current surface where Djoker was safe from Stanimal.
Djokovic isn't safe anywhere in a Slam against Stan. Not even grass. And Stan can play on grass. He just happens to lose in 5 sets to guys like Murray and Gasquet. Probably would've taken Djoker 5 sets to beat Stan at Wimbledon...if he could pull it off. Stan has no fear of the Djoker's game in Slams and that makes him a threat.

Stan can’t even make to Djokovic anymore. Therefore this is not even an issue going forward for Novak!

End of the road for Federer here. He's lucked his way this far, but Djokovic will give him the beatdown he is long overdue for. Djokovic in either 3 or 4 sets.
Fed in 5. The 5th set will be a serving clinic from Rog.
What a final to look forward too! I think fed has a good chance on that form, however hoping novaks level will be too much. It could go 5, I will say Novak in 5!
Federer in 3 pretty easy sets, unless he has a stinker where he throws one away like he did today. Should be a comfortable victory though today was the much more difficult task.
I'll go for Federer in 4 again. Have to believe!
The 2 best grass court players in the game today. What's not to like? If Djokovic forces Federer to play his grinding game then Nole in 4. Federer needs to be very aggressive especially on his return of serve and just go for it. Flip a coin to pick the winner. Hope it's a classic.
Federer breaks! Will serve for the match!
Holy Hell!
He's gonna do it!!
Cmon Federer, redline this.
Congrats to the great Federer fans out there. He was superb today. Enjoy.
oh man please dont do a Us Open 2011
40-15 on serve. Federer's "favorite" score. Missed one matchpoint already.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now THAT is a choke
This will be the worst loss i've ever seen.

This will be the worst if it happens.

I think that the result of Wim 19 final was the real cause of this pandemic. Very clear, under every scientific approach.
An omen, a curse.
Wimbledon will never be played again.

This thread will be a remainder for future generations . This was the match where GOAT debate changed forever . Especially matchpoints
Is Djokovic the GOAT? I thought Nadal was ahead of him in the Slam count? And then there's that old guy Federer who's still currently in the lead.

English padd le thik se . kya Likha hai Mene ?

Nadal will reach 20 or more slams .it's just a matter of time now .
and hopefully Djokovic too might touch 20 .. let's see .

But if fed converted those matchpoints against Novak then it would have been very dificult for Novak and Nadal to cross Fed .

On the other hand, I saw the Wimbledon 2019 final again 5/6 months ago. The whole match. :happydevil:

how do they already deserve it. especially djokovic. djokovic is 17 slams to fed's 20. he has more masters titles than federers, but federer has more overall titles more weeks at no 1. djokovic leads in h2h although not by a huge gap.

and djokovic and nadal fans always brush the huge age gap between fed and djokovic/nadal under the carpet. djokovic started winning more after fed became 30.

And Djokovic at age 35-38 faces a GOAT in endless big matches? That's not going to happen. Fed at those ages had to continually play the second and third greatest player ever when he was 5-6 years older than either. That's the point here.

Here i'm going to have to disagree with all fans of the big 3. I don't think fed's the GOAT, neither are nadal or djokovic. sure they have the numbers on their side in terms of slams and titles and longeivity. but the quality of opposition and playing conditions HAVE to be taken into account. fed did indeed play in a weak era compared to sampras, edberg, becker. but so did djokovic and nadal. and djokovic and nadal are playing a much weaker field today than fed ever did. IMO sampras is the GOAT. he had to deal with true surface variety, more play style variety, more depth of field in his career than the big 3. and he was far ahead of his rivals in terms of accomplishments.

After age 35 , Fed face Djokovic only twice , WB 2019 and AO 2020 .

And at AO2020 , Fed was injured when he played Novak is semis . So wouldn't have had much chance against Thiem .

While I agree with you here that Fed did face Djokovic 4 times at age 33 to 35 . and he did had age disadvantage .
