Svitolina is my fellow Ukrainian and is from the same city as my girlfriend, so there is a fondness there for her, but Halep is the girl I will cheer above any other currently on the tour, and her game feels much more energetic and dynamic than Elina's. I want Halep to win Wimbledon.

Personally I feel like Halep is more consistent and reliable generally, but for whatever reason, she doesn't like this match up. Can't take anything for granted, just so glad Eli finally made it into the last four of a Slam. She was on a 3 match losing streak going into Wimbledon, losing in the first round of both grass warm up events she entered.

Not against Serena or Strycova, but I hope the winner of this semifinal goes all the way. Such lovely, likable ladies, both of them.

ROTFL at someone calling Halep who has the most annoying, whiney, and obnoxious personality on tour as "lovely and likeable". Now I have heard it all. Next someone will call Nadal the most elegant mens player in the game, or Gilles Simon the games biggest server.

She matches the description better than the mother Williams at least. I mean, whatever. I have always liked her. It's your choice to disagree.

I agree. I like Simona. If you're not used to hearing English with a Romanian accent (I am, as my father was Romanian) you can sometimes misread the tone, (and that used to get me in trouble sometimes as a child!) She is a little fiery on the court, but off the court she seems to me quite likeable. And, I think she's fun to watch. I'm definitely pulling for her :)

I'd like Halep to win but IMO it's 50-50 chance. H2H means nothing and so is the mediocre season Svitolina had so far. It all comes down to who can notch the other in the big day.

I am by no means a Halep fan.
But I am an ABS fan. And since I feel Halep would have the best chance of neutralizing S, should she make it to the final,
I will cheer for Halep this time.

If both are healthy i think that the edge belongs to Svitolina. She got a better
set of serves then Halep does. Also i think that Svit can mix it up better at the net
then what i have seen from Halep.

My heart wants Halep to win but my wallet is on Svitolina

Lol at the comment calling Halep the most obnoxious personality on tour.

That's a stretch, to put it mildly.

Good match, this. Halep's the better player but Svito enjoys the match-up. I hope Simo's experience gets her past the line.

Not really. I am from California. My maternal grandmother is from Kherson, I now live mostly in Ukraine, have been for several years, but between Kiev or Odessa. However, I travel extensively, so every few weeks I will be in another part of the world.

Haha, from California to Odessa/Kiev is a drastic change :D

Do you feel comfortable here?

Not really because I used to live in other cities around Europe first. When I first joined this site I had just moved to Prague, to compete in some bodybuilding events. I used to train in hills surrounding the city. Then moved to Berlin, Bucharest, Athens among a few places. I went to meet my maternal grandmother's side of the family and just ended up staying, especially when I was given a God son by a friend there. And one thing lead to another....

I am fine, you get used to things. The thing is, I am not in Ukraine that much either, last month I was in Morrocco and Tunisia during the French Open and went deep into the Sahara, living out in the desert and doing training. Sadly I got hurt out there, had to stay longer until I was fit to fly. Next month I am in Malaga Spain for a while and that is my life in a nutshell.

Which part of Ukraine are you from?

Yeah, hard to warm up to Ukraine when you saw half of the World.

I am originally from Donetsk, but live in Kiev since 2015. Also lived in Northern Europe for a couple of years.

It’s been renamed to simply Dnepr/Dnjepr (not sure should there be "j" in eng or no) recently as part of Decommunization law, so now it’s easier :D
it's called dnipro on english, днiпро on ukranian, dnepr is russian name,:D

2 of my favorites. Going for Svitolina :alien:
My two favorites:eek:

It will be a battle of wills. Both players have histories of letting big matches get away from them *and* of being dogged fighters.
Would love to see either win a major, so I'm just hoping for a well played match.

Svitolina enjoys the matchup less when it’s a GS. Has she ever beaten Simona at a GS? I don’t think so. I’d be shocked if Simona was her pigeon tomorrow.

Just want to say Svitolina and Monfils make the cutest couple ever  Hope they’ll have lots of babies :giggle:
Oh and yeah beat the crap out of Halep beforehand :p(y)
Did they get back together? They delete their insta and photos of each other in their feed but was seen together at Wimbledon party.

Sorry for derailed but love them as well.

Do you know why they even split up? From what I have been told it was because Svitolina was filming Monfils while he was sitting on the bed topless on his phone without him knowing it. She starts a live instgram feed and films him without his consent. He has a surprised and then annoyed look on his face and he puts his t shirt on and walks off. He then gets ribbed for it at RG, hence that instagram account vanished. But they got back together shortly after.

Halep has that gladiatorial kind of play I knew you'd appreciate.

Another brilliant rally from Halep to save break point.

We've already had two 23 shot rallies. We could be here a while.
