Simona was superb there, just in total control. When you assess the whole package tactically, technically, emotionally I have never seen her better. It will be another straight set win in the final if she keeps her head.

Congrats to Halep! :) I felt she would win but I wonder who the other finalist will be? I think Williams but I am uncertain...

The sad thing is most people in Ukraine don't have any faith in her either, and hate to say it, but she is seen like a female version of Zverev, simply not good enough in the big events but can win the odd Rome or WTA championship.

Still reached a slam SF before Zverev did !

I like your optimism but it will be a very different player on the other side of the net for the final. Not sure that Simona will be able to dictate as easily as she did here in the SF. But I'd certainly like to see it.

Halep into her fifth slam final and gonna be hell for whoever makes it there between Barbara and Serena if she plays like this.

And I'm not sure why the hype around Svitolina.

She has won a lot of WTA events and played Tennis as good as anyone at her best. This season she has struggled with tondonitis in the knee and she really struggles to serve well and move as well as she did 18 months ago.

If it is Williams she can't run, if it is Strycova she can dictate like today, although Babs is serving better. Either way so long as Simona doesn't go back to heads gone mode she should win easy.

If I have the numbers right, Simona's record Wimbledon is 23-8. That puts her at a very respectable 74.2%. I believe that puts her a bit ahead of Kerber, who has made it to two Wimbledon finals and won one of those.

Of course, Serena's record is in the upper 80s. But both Simona & Serena are different players this week then they were in years past.

I have to pull a reverse Andy Murray and correct you. It would be the first Romanian woman if you are correct.

I don't know what years, but Nastase definitely made the final at some point.

72 and 76. Lost to Stan Smith in five, and was then the first to lose to Borg in Borg's run.

SW moving better today than she was last week. But she definitely cannot move anything like Simona can. But if Serena can dictate more of the rallies, then Simona will have to play more in counter-puncher mode then she did today.

Alison Riske played pretty well against Serena. But Serena was able to use her serve as her trump card. If not for the serve advantage, it would have been a much closer match and Alison might have even prevailed. With Serena serving big on both first and second serves and dictating more rallies, Simone out well on that early have her work cut out for her.

Yes about 3000 people quoted me telling me that. I like to pretend that Nastase doesn't exist.

Halep said that for the first time she is loving grass.
Co-incidence that its happening at probably the slowest Wimbledon ever ?

ESPN commentators noted that the Svitolina match played just as though it were Roland Garros because, as Bethanie Mattek-Sands has been telling them all tournament, the grass is "so much slower" (audible emphasis).

Could very well be the reason. Unfortunately, a slower grass could also give Rafa the edge of Roger in their SF match.

Nastase sends a message to Aussie Darcy:
