Okay here we go folks.

H2H - 1 win each

Last match - US open 2022 SF - Carlos Def. Tiafoe 67(6) 63 61 67(5) 63

Coming into this match - Alcaraz has won both of his R128 & R64 matches in Straight sets while Tiafoe had to come back from 2-0 sets down against M. Arnaldi of Italy in R128 before straight setting Borna Coric in R64.

So, who wins and how many sets will it be?

Discuss and vote.

Tiafoe has given a pretty controversial statement this week by saying that he'd been losing to clowns in the last few months. He followed it up with yet another loudmouthery by saying that "I'm coming for Alcaraz" in the post match interview.

Alcaraz, when asked about it, laughed it away by saying "well then I'm coming for him too" with a big grin on his face.

Let's see what unfolds on court.

Should be a fun one! Hope Tiafoe can bring a good level, because Alcaraz certainly will. I don't really give Tiafoe much of a chance of winning, but he could certainly make it interesting and take a set if he plays well.

Love that response. It adds to the hype, but also keeps it light-hearted, not falling for the media's bait to try to get him to comment about Tiafoe being disrespectful or whatever.

(My bias - always - is to try to take generous interpretations of what players say and not assume bad intent or disrespect or anything like that. These players are being genuine and I'd much much rather hear about Tiafoe's frustration about losing to people he thinks he could beat to than have him attend a media relations course and learn to say "you know, every match is a new day, I'm just taking it one day at a time, I congratulate [yesterday's opponent] on his great play" regardless of what he actually feels about his play or his opponents' play.)

Dangerous opponent if alcaraz is not on his game. Always with the ocasional loose service games could be a disaster in this match.

Can FoeZo the Clown make an impact? [Note: I'm trying to make Foezo a thing - and I've generally been a fan.]

I actually think Tiafoe will make this more interesting than most people probably think and just in light of recent form. The clown comment, as lame as it was, at least suggests that Tiafoe has turned a motivation/focus corner. And this is the sort of match he lives for - big stage, big opponent. And I think he'll be loose and have a "nothing to lose attitude." Big thing is if he serves well. I'll guess Alacaraz in four, with at least two of the sets he wins being fairly competitive. I wouldn't be shocked if I'm totally wrong and Alcaraz breezes, but I'm giving Foezo a good chance at making it a good match.

That’s hilarious Tiafoe calling others a clown when he is definitely one of the biggest clowns on tour.

Hopefully Tiafoe will employ serve and volley tactics and force Alcaraz to react quickly on returns and chase down volleys instead of letting him stay in his comfort zone and being explosive while hitting heavy ground strokes. He will need to serve extremely well to make this match competitive but his grass tennis is much more entertaining than majority of matches we've been seeing in the last 20+ years - an endless baseline exchanges over and over again.

I can’t believe how huge that Tiafoe kicker is. Combined with how high bouncing the grass is nowadays it is devastating. Every second serve is fizzing and bouncing a foot over Alcaraz’s head. He hits it pretty front on but still gets so much fizz and action in the ball.

LOL MUGafoe. Multiple break points and still buggers it all up. Then he wonders why he spends his career bending over to clowns. What a loser. American men’s tennis in a nutshell for the last 15 years
