I am not sure about this. Level of play wise, Sinner is way off of his usual self.
Again a usual Sinner beats this Djokovic in straight sets but this isn't usual Sinner. Struff was outplaying him in play and Sinner only got by due to his serve. Djokovic is able to defend more, inject more pace and not just from forehand but both wings and will return more balls in serve than any player that Sinner had trouble against till Quarters.
Unless something radically changes, Djokovic is outplaying Sinner. The question is for how long and if that length will be enough to get a decisive lead. Even if he played 5 hours, he still gets 2 day rest.
It all depends on how much the 39 year old has left in the tank to actually complete the match.
For Sinner, I have never seen his game be this disjoint. Never seen his Backhand cough up errors on routine balls and his Forehand is shambolic right now.
He is doing a 2010 Federer without a Berdych to knock him out and end his misery.
OK yes, I agree.Wanna bet? Like if Djokovic wins you have to delete your account and never post again
How many hours has Djokovic played at this Wimbledon so far, 16 or 17?An impossible obstacle to pass. Had sinner not been here I think he may have found a way even after a long time on court and Father Time. No chance now though.
Something like that! How many hours has Djokovic played at this Wimbledon so far, 16 or 17?

In the decisive tie-break, Djokovic did his thing and FAA self-destructed with so many unforced errors.Well also, Felix did some heavy choking in that first set, and he could have won in 4 too.
The fact they played on Tuesday makes this interesting for me. Obviously Djoker will be creaking harrrd from that match yesterday, but will he still be creaking by Friday morning if he takes today super light?
Will Sinner allow lightning to strike twice? Or will he exert his Gen Z dominance over his Millennial predecessor? In the decisive tie-break, Djokovic did his thing and FAA self-destructed with so many unforced errors.

In theory he should win in straight sets, but he has lost some of his mental consistency this season in the Major tournaments. Will Sinner allow lightning to strike twice? Or will he exert his Gen Z dominance over his Millennial predecessor?
Djoko went into wall mode in the last set tiebreaker. He was like I’m not missing and Felix cracked under pressure with the errors. In the decisive tie-break, Djokovic did his thing and FAA self-destructed with so many unforced errors.

That’s the only small straw us Djokovic fans can cling to.The fact they played on Tuesday makes this interesting for me. Obviously Djoker will be creaking harrrd from that match yesterday, but will he still be creaking by Friday morning if he takes today super light?
I didn’t watch the match yesterday apart from a brief period in the 2nd set which looked pretty meh (after he faked a calf injury(?)), but from what I have read, it seemed like a classic match where the quality was pretty good overall - at least enough to suggest that if Djoker brings that level from set 5 on Friday, Sinner will have to play well
And this is the thing - Sinner looks still really off for me. He has had no fear factor at all this tournament, no sense of invulnerability. Someone who can serve better and hit the ball harder than Mochi, can move and return better than Struff, would have done real damage to him in the last 2 matches. Djoker obviously fits both categories
If Sinner locks in and produces his level from last year’s SF, then Sinner in 3. If he plays like he has so far this tourney… Sinner in 5??
LOL - Novak's level today was far better than anything Sinner has shown this tournament.
Not to mention Sinner doesn't have a big serve like FAA did.
Djokovic, if he plays his A game, is more likely to win in straight sets under 2 hours.
In the decisive tie-break, Djokovic did his thing and FAA self-destructed with so many unforced errors.

It's crazy how well that still works for him, but he hits the shots to back it up lol. I have to give it to him, it's still INSANELY hard to beat him in a BO5.
Make or break match for Sinner. I don’t ever wanna hear hype words for him if he loses this
Incredibly neither are on my ignore list, so I don’t mind who comes out on topI propose a duel between @TheFifthSet and @Kralingen to decide who keeps the match thread
Previously, your mettled was tested against ATGs in their primes?Great players raise their level against the best, despite being scrappy in the earlier rounds. Big 3 were always like that. Now let’s see what Sinner is really made of. No excuses losing this one. I know for sure Alcaraz would have the clear edge against this Novak. Not so sure about Sinner. He’s lost so many close ones now.
That's fair but Djokovic is very far from being a normal 39 year old, he's still really really good even in his declined from prime form.Previously, your mettled was tested against ATGs in their primes?
Now it is tested against 39 year olds
Even if he is not your regular 39 year old, he is still not 25 anymore and will never play like he was 25 ever again. He is still easier to beat. That's fair but Djokovic is very far from being a normal 39 year old, he's still really really good even in his declined from prime form.
Regardless, if Sinner doesn't win this match I'm not sure where he goes from here as that would be a big hit to his confidence to lose back to back to Djokovic and go slamless in Carlos's absence (assuming, praying that he's back for the USO) so even though 25 is an important achievement I think this match is WAY bigger for Sinner's legacy. I think Sinner gets his revenge on Friday and he better get his revenge or some questions will really come into play for him.
It’s a knock-out tournament. Every match is a must winIt’s a must win match for Sinner and I think this one time he won’t fail to deliver
Sing with the Fed fans bro! Super sinner will save you all!Sinner in Christmas mode in 4 sets.

It’s always very satisfying thoughwatching Sinner spank zverev the 60th time is the least interesting
If he loses this slam as well without his main rival and failing to beat Cerulnoldo and past prime Djokovic he'll be really questioning himself.Make or break match for Sinner. I don’t ever wanna hear hype words for him if he loses this.
Not in terms of legacy. He can lose in the final and it won’t change how he’s seen in 10 years, but he can’t lose against ancient Djokovic as a 25 years old defending champion at the peak of his careerIt’s a knock-out tournament. Every match is a must win
already happened to him in januaryNot in terms of legacy. He can lose in the final and it won’t change how he’s seen in 10 years, but he can’t lose against ancient Djokovic as a 25 years old defending champion at the peak of his career
That makes no sense. Are you saying it worse to lose to 39 year old Djokovic who won 24 slams than to Zverev/fritz/cobolli? The odds have Djokovic the 2nd favourite after sinner so losing to Djokovic least the embarrassing result for him.Not in terms of legacy. He can lose in the final and it won’t change how he’s seen in 10 years, but he can’t lose against ancient Djokovic as a 25 years old defending champion at the peak of his career
Totally agree. If it were say Fritz instead of FAA it would still be noteworthy considering the form and grass court capabilities. On the other hand, we should point out that the rhetoric about the Felix v Djokovic match needs to be put in perspective. While it's of course great for Novak from the standpoint of being able to compete with what the tour largely offers these days and he can still play long matches at his age, Felix had previously only ever won a total of 7 matches at Wimbledon in his entire career before this year.
That includes 3 straight first round losses to players most here would usually mock as well as losing in 4 sets last year to Struff, the same guy Sinner today beat in straight sets. FAA is not a good barometer of elite performance at Wimbledon. He can't perform in the forecourt, returns poorly and has huge liabilities on the backhand side. All of that provides a comfort level for a top player which Sinner absolutely does not. Let's not forget, Djokovic was tested by lesser players all throughout this tournament in fact.
Yeah, but happening again would be the final nail in the coffinalready happened to him in january
Not great when viewed on the broader scaleThat makes no sense. Are you saying it worse to lose to 39 year old Djokovic who won 24 slams than to Zverev/fritz/cobolli? The odds have Djokovic the 2nd favourite after sinner so losing to Djokovic least the embarrassing result for him.
I might be wrong but I firmly believe if not for sinner, Djoko would still be the favourite for winning his 25th slam right now. Even at 39 and after a 5 hour match.
I agree it not a good look but if we honest whoever sinner loses to is an embarrassing look. He really should sweep any player left from here if he turns up and mentally strong. Not great when viewed on the broader scale
how many finals nails is his coffin capable of getting?Yeah, but happening again would be the final nail in the coffin
Not really! It would be a big blow but it not going to stop him winning future slams and tournaments.Yeah, but happening again would be the final nail in the coffin
No matter how many more slams he wins, we know he is winning them in a weak era for sure if he doesn’t win on FridayNot really! It would be a big blow but it not going to stop him winning future slams and tournaments.
I agree though to get his aura back now and validate him the true world no1 in needs this slam. He majored in minors so far in 2026 but a players of the class of sinner has to end this mini slam drought especially with Alcaraz out.
That’s fair enough to say!No matter how many more slams he wins, we know he is winning them in a weak era for sure if he doesn’t win on Friday
