I think Djokovic does it in five.
When he’s in this mood, he can do it. And Sinner hasn’t been tested in some time.

he just won against Fritz.Real question is why does Zverev have a slam in the same year where he is currently 0-6 against top 10?

Djokovic has played several more hours than Sinner this time, unlike what happened in Australia.I think Djokovic does it in five.

still waiting...OK yes, I agree.
This time, for real. I promise.
It’s a very pertinent question.Djokovic has played several more hours than Sinner this time, unlike what happened in Australia.
How is it possible that a tennis player over 39 years old, with greater physical demands in the tournament, can defeat his rival at the peak of his physical condition and with fewer hours of playing time on the court?

I agree with you that Sinner isnt at his best, but just look at it; he is in the semis vs Djokovic as a 82% favourite, and has won the 3 last matches in straights. If he isnt at his best then the best version is pretty far ahead of the field lol. There's little doubt that Sinner is not at his best. Part of that has to do with his physical state as well as his own confidence and part of that is that other players right now are not as pressured into going for too much thinking they have absolutely no chance. His mechanics are unchanged otherwise.
On the other hand, we should point out that the rhetoric about the Felix v Djokovic match needs to be put in perspective. While it's of course great for Novak from the standpoint of being able to compete with what the tour largely offers these days and he can still play long matches at his age, Felix had previously only ever won a total of 7 matches at Wimbledon in his entire career before this year.
That includes 3 straight first round losses to players most here would usually mock as well as losing in 4 sets last year to Struff, the same guy Sinner today beat in straight sets. FAA is not a good barometer of elite performance at Wimbledon. He can't perform in the forecourt, returns poorly and has huge liabilities on the backhand side. All of that provides a comfort level for a top player which Sinner absolutely does not. Let's not forget, Djokovic was tested by lesser players all throughout this tournament in fact.
The only real drama here is which Sinner we will get. Djokovic will be fine enough physically with the time he has to recover but if it's the Sinner who has regularly beaten down the field (minus Alcaraz) then Sinner should prevail.
This is my point too. Nole has been more or less injured sinse AO, and instead of a w/o and retirement from Musetti, he now played 5h vs FAA.Djokovic has played several more hours than Sinner this time, unlike what happened in Australia.

Well, we will have to wait until the end of Friday to make any final decisions.still waiting...
i think it's better to take 1.55 as winner of the tournament, basically it's the same to meSinner surprisingly huge odds fav once again (2/9, or 1.22 decimal)
That’s not surprising. That’s too low if anythingSinner surprisingly huge odds fav once again (2/9, or 1.22 decimal)
To be fair, Sinner has yet to face a single seeded player. He has not played anyone as good as Rinderknech, let alone a top-five player like FAA. Djokovic played some low-ranked players and didn't really look any better than Sinner, but he also didn't look a whole lot worse than Sinner either. Novak has also gone further than Jannik at both of the other slams this year. I think the bookies aren't giving Djokovic enough credit here. I mean, Sinner's for sure the favorite, but not an 80-20 favorite in my mind.I agree with you that Sinner isnt at his best, but just look at it; he is in the semis vs Djokovic as a 82% favourite, and has won the 3 last matches in straights. The problem is that current version of Sinner is as far away from the peak Sinner as you possibly can. To me, I've never seen Sinner play this poorly for a long time.Oh, Sinner's best version is HUGELY ahead of this field. So much so that it's only Alcaraz who can even convince himself he has a chance against that Sinner.
If that version of Sinner were in question, we almost wouldn't even need to see a match.
Bro, Alcaraz is clearly a level ahead of Sinner, has gears that Sinner has never yet displayed in his career. Has Sinner ever pulled off a final like the one Alcaraz did against Novak at Wimbledon 2023? Or won a match like RG2025 semi? Alcaraz doesn’t have to convince himself of anything. He knows he’s better and has proved it time and again across surfaces and seasons. That said, Sinner is not far behind, and definitely is more than a handful when he’s peaking.Oh, Sinner's best version is HUGELY ahead of this field. So much so that it's only Alcaraz who can even convince himself he has a chance against that Sinner. We've seen even Djokovic show something pretty close to resignation when he came up against that version of Sinner and Zverev looked like he wished he had chosen a different sport.

Funny how this mythological beast lost 5 in a row to Alcaraz, lost both HC slams to him and still hasn’t caught up career-wise even though he’s 2 years older and Alcaraz missed 3 slams in the last 3 yearsOh, Sinner's best version is HUGELY ahead of this field. Maybe the UsOpen loss to Alcaraz (where he was outclassed), an AO loss to a half injured Novak and then French Open heat capitulation broke his confidence?
Right now Sinner looks like the young player he used to be 4+ years ago, when he lacked consistency on his forehand, serve and net play - and used to get beaten by the big 3 and top 5 players all the time. Will Sinner recover his game and confidence? If so, then he should be the favorite. Will he continue to be scrappy? If so, then Novak could pull this off.
“it's only Alcaraz who can even convince himself he has a chance against that Sinner” is a weird way to put it then, when the H2H since Sinner peaked in 2024 is 7-3 Alcaraz. He doesn’t need to convince himself he has “a chance”You should have noticed that Alcaraz was the one player excluded explicitly in my comment. Both guys at their best reduce the field to irrelevance.

Yep, focused like a laser.Djokovic in five. He's coming for Sinner.
Indeed.Make or break match for Sinner. I don’t ever wanna hear hype words for him if he loses this.
I totally agree with you. You are saying only Alcaraz can either match sinner or go to a higher plane than him. Only he can do it. It only best of 5 where Alcaraz can raise the bar even higher at his absolute best.Sigh. This is a thread talking about Sinner not Carlos and you're deliberately misreading what was said which addressed being seen as insufficiently recognizing Sinner's advance over the rest of the field by that other poster to whom I was responding.
Of course Carlos is in a different category entirely which is the whole point of my comment on him in passing. I know very well the relevant statistics and if anything am a bigger fan of him than I am of Sinner in the first place.
It’s a very pertinent question.
Perhaps we will learn in ten years.
Just 2 will do.how many finals nails is his coffin capable of getting?
Zverev’s late successes also play into the weak era theory. He has his best year since a long time likely in his whole career. Dimitrov and Fognini showing/showed glimpses against the big guns also doesn’t look good.No matter how many more slams he wins, we know he is winning them in a weak era for sure if he doesn’t win on Friday
Well, Z had to take advantage of the CIE himself eventually.Zverev’s late successes also play into the weak era theory. He has his best year since a long time likely in his whole career. Dimitrov and Fognini showing/showed glimpses against the big guns also doesn’t look good.
Make that 2025 AOWe are on course to see the most boring GS final since 2024 USO
Sinner vs a peak, rejuvenated Zverev is still better than Sinner vs Fritz, tbfWe are on course to see the most boring GS final since 2024 USO
Zverev is taking advantage of no Alcaraz present. That’s good on him though. He’s been on the other side of draw to sinner and the Italian lost early at French to a freak result.Zverev’s late successes also play into the weak era theory. He did but just needed Alcaraz out the way. I knew if one of sincaraz wasn’t in draw that might be all Zverev needs to win 1.Well, Z had to take advantage of the CIE himself eventually.
He has not beaten Sinner since Sinner became who he is not, and he has not beaten even an older Djokovic in recent years—the one win he did get came against an injured Djokovic. He is also just 1–6 against top-10 opponents this year. Beating Alcaraz in 2024 is a legitimate point, but the only reason he pushed Alcaraz this year was that Alcaraz started cramping.Zverev is taking advantage of no Alcaraz present. I always said Chainz was knocking on door and just needed a player or 2 out the way and he wins 1 and maybe 1 or 2 more in future.
Zverev is a great player and when he’s on is a difficult player to beat. It all been mentality with him and FH can be lose at times. Even against sincaraz and old Djokovic he’s pushed them in big matches or occasionally beat them.
It is not surprising Zverev is having his moments as he kept going and now his opportunities are here. Since winning RG he now playing more aggressive too. Let’s see if he gets to final how he does if it like sinner or even old Djokovic. Most likely sinner though.
This is true! Completely forgot about that one lolMake that 2025 AO
He did not win in Wimbledon easily. 4-6 6-4 6-4 6-4 is a relatively tight scoreline. Some people forgot how strong is Sinner mental. He lost last year at final RG, then win Wimbledon easily. This year he was too confident in Australia, lost by margin in fifth set( a lot of breaks that he didnt convert) and then start dominating till RG and problems with health. For sure he wants revenge for AO26. If Djokovic needs 5set with choker Felix, i dont see his win with Sinner who is much more better player then Felix, even if he dont play fantastic during this tournament so far. Also, all the matches which Djokovic lost a set could have turned out completely differently if he had lost this sets in first set. Health Sinner can't lost a match on Friday
I'm open to other suggestions if you feel that is not specific enough.Good.
