I wonder if the organizers will schedule this match after Fery vs Zverev so that it's in the evening and not in the afternoon

On the other hand, we should point out that the rhetoric about the Felix v Djokovic match needs to be put in perspective. While it's of course great for Novak from the standpoint of being able to compete with what the tour largely offers these days and he can still play long matches at his age, Felix had previously only ever won a total of 7 matches at Wimbledon in his entire career before this year.

That includes 3 straight first round losses to players most here would usually mock as well as losing in 4 sets last year to Struff, the same guy Sinner today beat in straight sets. FAA is not a good barometer of elite performance at Wimbledon. He can't perform in the forecourt, returns poorly and has huge liabilities on the backhand side. All of that provides a comfort level for a top player which Sinner absolutely does not. Let's not forget, Djokovic was tested by lesser players all throughout this tournament in fact.

The only real drama here is which Sinner we will get. Djokovic will be fine enough physically with the time he has to recover but if it's the Sinner who has regularly beaten down the field (minus Alcaraz) then Sinner should prevail.

Excellent post, perhaps the best in the thread.

You're absolutely right in pointing out that Djokovic winning by the skin of his teeth against just FAA could be a canary in the coal mine for what is to come in the semi final. FAA cannot shine Sinner's shoes, so ultimately it does come down to Jannik's level.

That's insane. He did it from 2018 to 2026, 9 year period, from age 31 to 39, 8 straight semis in 8 consecutive tournaments.. Unbelievable at this age!

Who could actually take him seriously as a top ATG if he loses twice to 39 year old Djokovic in majors in the same year?

If he loses again, he is just a De Minaur/Shelton beater

Jokes aside, why are people even debating this??
Sinner is by far the better player and he should win pretty comfortably on Friday.
Since the second round onwards, Sinner has looked better than Djokovic.

tbf Sinner tanked the AO 2026 SF match, so that one doesn't really count.

And as for Friday's match, there is no chance that a 39 year old Djokovic coming back from a 5h 14m match has enough energy to even remotely challenge Sinner.

So technically, we're looking at zero legitimate losses to Djokovic in 2026.

That match in Australia is a disaster, and a black mark for the legacy, but the truth is it was a very flukey/lucky match. But if it happens again, yikes.

Competition can take several seats as they say. At 39 Bull was fishing in Mallorca and Fraud was getting bageled by Hurcakz.. or was he in crutches?? Either way Neither of them were going for any streaks let alone make the world #1 player quiver in his boots lol.
It's incredible what the Serb is doing right now!

I think he was a bit unlucky. He had several break points in the 5th and Novak was super clutch.

That won’t repeat though. If sinner plays his normal game and heat doesn’t bother him he wins this and final.

Sinner I think shows this tournament why he clear no1 when alcaraz is out the picture.
 
Djokovic once again was right. WImbledon dont have rules. Sinner Djokovic should be first match tomorrow, but will be second. Good for Sinner, less sun for him :D

I think it still better for Djokovic too as he has a bit more time to recover from his quarter final.

It will still be hot but it less about heat and more about the level of play on the day.

Yeah it better for him if I’m honest. Neither sinner or Djoko like the heat or sun. It will still be hot but the sun will bother both players less later in the day.

We will see how long the Zverev-Fery match goes. I honestly thought that would be 2nd considering their side went 2nd and a Brit is in semis too.

It warmer more in later afternoon/early evening. The sun might be less in their eyes though.

If I’m honest though it better for oldovic is he as even a few more hours to recover. He had 2 days and now a bit longer especially if other semi goes longer.
