Wimbledon and now the AO are fast again!

Wimbledon has been fast these last two years, AO is back to 2007 speeds, is the tour being sped up to get the boring, unmarketable Djoker off the top and prolong money machine Federer's career?

Federer has lost equally as bad on slow and fast courts of late bro.

I love the guy's tennis, I think he's the GOAT and all... but I also witnessed Rafa dismantle the guy at the WTF and Cincy... 2 tournaments where Federer is probably the GOAT at.

If this is a ploy for Federer, it's too late.

If they want to this to swing Fed's way, maybe they should have a ball boy accidentally dive into Ralph's knee

Except that Federer disagrees with your dumb assessment. Wimbledon (2nd week) and AO are still slow as molasses.

AO is up to moderate speed now. They really need to keep Wimbledon fast all tournament. It's not just Djokovic that can get boring. Most feel that Nadal is at least equally as boring. I personally don't feel that style is boring; I also don't think Sampras-style tennis is boring. They both should have a place. Turning everything into clay court speed causes fatigue for that style. It's nice to have a variety of surfaces to create more parity and make being an "all surface player" something a little more rare.

I think the people who make decisions about the court surfaces are all dingdongpingpong players so they have to slow all the Slam courts down or they wouldn't have anyone to look up to in tennis.

It's not a dumb assessment, but even being faster they are light years slower than the 90's.

Wimbledon is as slow as the FO was in the 90's, I wish more fans would be aware of court speeds and their significance. I mean people talking about Nadal being better than Federer, yea maybe on super slow courts, but put them H2H throughout the history of Tennis and Nadal would tell you himself he'd be no where near Federer.

AO this year is faster than it was in 2007. AO was never fast since 2003. The court this year looks more like Montreal type. Maybe a tad slower. Something like USO courts.

¤ The grass at Wimbledon was changed in 2001
Wimbledon website:
- The grass plant itself has to survive in this dry soil. Expert research has again shown that a cut height of 8mm (since 1995) is the optimum for present day play and survival.

-Courts are sown with 100 per cent Perennial Ryegrass (since 2001) to improve durability and strengthen the sward to withstand better the increasing wear of the modern game.

¤ The courts of USO were slowed down in 2003.

Fed didn't win any Wimbledon & USO titles before the courts were slowed down.
