Novak really should be up a break. Not only did the ball bounce twice, it was also out.

And he ran into the net. That's three things wrong by the umpire, and the running into the net was the most aggregious.

Djokovic would have admitted that.

I disagree. He played Murray in either IW or Miami in 2014 or 2015. Djokovic clearly reached over the net to hit a volley, admitted he did it, but claimed he didn't know that it was against the rules.

So that's now 3 messed-up calls: having the racket leave your hand, double-bounce, and out. wtf how did no one notice any of those lol :| that was terrible. edmund and the umpire should be embarrassed.
You forgot he also touched the net

Lmao that whole exchange was funny "over the net, yes over the net!" I think Novak is more is general gracious but let's not pretend like most pros in tense situations, he has his moments

Crazy last few minutes a few games ago. Why wasn't that point replayed when it bounced off Edmund's baseline? Second, in the next point, not only did the ball bounce twice before Edmund got to it, but Edmund missed the cross-court shot and also touched the net before the ball had bounced twice on the other side anyway, yet Edmund still won the point!

Absolutely horrible umpiring!

Yeah but he admitted to Murray and the umpire that he'd reached over the net, so if the umpire knew the rules he'd have lost the point

Bounced twice, the shot went out, he touched the net and he let go of his racket. He lost that point 4 times over yet still the umpire gave it to him. An absolute pathetic wanker sitting in that chair that has no idea what he is doing. Djokovic needs to pull a Nadal and request that this guy never umpires another of his matches for the rest of his career. In this case, it's warranted.

Wow! BLATANT CHEATING GOING IN FULL MODE like I have never seen before.

double bounce, shot so far wide, player touching the net, RACKET THROWN OFF HANDS

AND THE OFFICIAL, THE LINE JUDGE AND THE PLAYER HIMSELF turning DEAF, BLIND AND DUMB simultaneously.

Hilariously embarrassing.

And a pathetic wanker cheater Edmund for not conceding the point!!! What a disappointment - I started to like that guy over the last 6 months or so... Cheater!!

Good win for Novak. Hostile crowd and a disappointingly unsportsmanlike Edmund.

Wrapped up in 4 and he's off to the next round.

Not disappointing anymore.

He has a history of making snide remarks over Djokovic, especially in the period where he was at his all time low post Indian Wells/Miami 2018.

The ball wasn’t even close to the line and the line judge missed it. But I don’t get why touching the net wasn’t enough to automatically lose the point. Isn’t that how the rules work?

Yeah, I can see not wanting to overrule the far sideline, especially if you are focused on the double bounce and the player rushing into the net . . .

But if you were focused on those things, then how could you miss either infraction?

Still, why did Novak not challenge? Unless he already thought the point was his and by the time he realized it wasn't, it was way too late.

Yea the rules say you cannot touch the net before your shot bounces twice and he clearly did. The shot was also well out so I couldn't understand what the hell he was doing. That's about as bad as an umpire awarding an extra point at Wimbledon 2004 to Sprem in a tiebreak with Venus when she hadn't earned the point. That guy is incompetent.
