Hewitt's Giant Killing run has taken shape 8)

Przysienzy-Janowicz-Robredo-Federer-Wawrinka-Nadal-Djokovic/Murray at worst

Yay for easy draws :'(

When was the last time Hewitt won 2 top 20 players consecutively ? I hope he gets to the 4R though.

If a British dude was fixing the draw, here's what they would do:
- Make sure Murray has the easiest week one draw, and easiest QF
- Make sure Djokovic has the most difficult draw, so he doesn't reach SF
- Make sure Nadal has to face Rosol again and another basher (but I think they'll find Karlovic will only break Nadal's serve once, if at all, so its tie-breakers or bust)
- Make sure Federer reaches the final, because Murray has a better chance in the final vs Federer (whom Murray beat at 2012 Olympics at Wimbledon) than vs Nadal

Interestingly, that's exactly what's happened. Also, Wimbledon is a British tournament!

:shock::shock::shock:

The organisers have done a truly superb job.

Terrible draw for Novak . Tsonga, Berdych, Murray. Could not have been more difficult.
OTOH A cakewalk for Nadal and Murray. When is this farce going to end.

It's true that Federer would personally probably prefer Ferrer in the quarters because it's one of his very best match-ups. Still, I just don't much respect Stan on grass. He doesn't worry me. No quarter-final match is a gimme against a top 8 seed but it's the match-up that would give me the least worries except for, as you say, a Ferrer match-up. Ferrer's pure results on grass have been superior in recent years though.

Raonic wouldn't be bad either. He's never made it past the 2nd round and never done anything on grass if I remember correctly. Stan at least won the small warm-up in the Netherlands last year.
None of the 5th to 8th seeds are sure to be in the quarters. Wawrinka and Raonic because of their general upset-proneness on grass, Berdych and Ferrer because of Gulbis (but on grass?) and Dimi.

I dont think Rosol will get through Paire, he's a good player and sure he will break the hearts of thousands when he denies the dream 2nd round matchup.

I'm not too sure Rosol would relish a return match against Rafa at Wimbledon. Ir's highly unlikely that the stars would line up again in his favour. Rafa has beaten Rosol since anyway in straight sets.

Since you think Novak is the out and out #1, no draw should be difficult for him, it should be routine stuff.

I always believe, think tomic will do well though.

It's Nick who I'll watch more closely than either. Always keen to see Llegs do well though... must be the nostalgia.

Chanwan, Gulbis on grass is a big question mark, Lost style. Who would I feel more worried though if Federer had to play Stan and Murray had to play Dimitrov? The Muzzard, of course. Winning Queens ain't no joke! You're right, I was thinking of Raonic who also hasn't shown much on grass during his career but I've got a funny feeling he's going to come up good on grass in the end.

Rafa's got the toughest draw in the first 3 rounds, Novak's got the toughest from the 4th round onwards imo. Out of the big 4 that is.
If Rafa survives the first week, he's the favorite to go all the way, I think.

Agree with the above except for Raonic producing something this year, doubt Gulbis has enough time to set up his forehand on grass. But man was he looking good at RG!

Yep, even when Rosol beat Nadal, it was 6-4 in 5th set, after Nadal completely dominated the 4th set (before the roof delay). So even if Rosol plays just as well as 2012, Nadal may well win.

Well you keep insisting Novak is #1. So they give him the #1 seed and the draw that goes with it

Stan is not going to face Fed. I think Lopez will.

Murray might have to get passed Dimi and if he plays ping pong against Goffin he might not survive him. Andjuar is a capable player too, I wouldn't just write him off as a claycourter. Bautista-Agut is also a very good player.

Murray is a dead certain for QF. Might have problems vs Dimitrov but so would anyone on grass. I don't know why but today I decided Grigor is winning the whole shebang.

Since queens has same grass and balls as wimbledon i would say Dimi has a pretty good chance. Its just the 5 set factor that makes him weaker in wim maybe, just as for Federer. Federer in 3 set ok, but not 5 anymore.

Just looking over the draw now. I'm pretty annoyed that Dimitrov, Harrison, Saville, and Thiem all ended up in one tight block with only one of them coming through. How can we possibly expect young guns to emerge when all we do is smash them all together and just test the one who comes out?

It's called draw rigging.

Can we please stop the Harrison-hype at some point? I would be quite surprised if he ever got anywhere near top-10.
In his last main draw event, he lost 0-6, 1-6 to Donald freaking Young.
Apart from that, I agree.

A player like Rosol can only find that level once in a lifetime, I'm afraid. Plus, Rafa will be even extra motivated. Still, one can hope for that kind of tennis again. Easy quarterfinal for Rafa, but not an easy first week, when he's usually vulnerable.

Benneteau in the 2nd ain't easy for Fed either - he almost always gives him trouble.

I'm not sure. Rosol is hit or miss, literally. But he still has a big serve and moves relatively well. 5th set Rosol was crazy sure, but Rosol from the first 4 sets was good, but not unbelievably great. I'm not saying he'll beat Nadal if they both get there, but if he catches fire again you never know. He doesn't necessarily need to find THAT level again. In fact, more important for Rosol in the 2012 match was that he got early breaks in every set he won, therefore he could swing out at what he wanted to.

It doesn't really matter. Rafa that match... his tendon worse than ever in his life.

fair point. If Nadal brings his usual first week form, he could be in trouble in any of the first 3 rounds.

Worse than ever? To quote myself from the Rafa's back thread:
"in 2013 my knee was not doing well. I played on painkillers the entire year, getting shots of Voltaren [a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug] every day. The grass demanded a mental and physical effort from me that I was unable to bear. I remember I went to an exhibition game against Nishikori as training, and I did not feel well. Seeing myself helpless, seeing I could not find something to motivate me, prevented me from making the effort

Q. Did you become afraid of the grass?

A. It’s just that my knee was hurting. Not fear. Pain. It’s not a matter of fear. I am not a fearful person, but when it hurts, it hurts, and when there’s a limitation, there’s a limitation. I am going to Halle because I want to try to play well on the grass again. After that, if my back does not respond or if my knee acts up ... that’s the way it will be, I will have tried."

Such a warrior!!! What courage! And now we all have an explanation should he fall early again.
After many years of watching tennis, I'm now convinced that Rafa hasn't lost a match without an injury playing it's part since Tsonga at the AO 2008.

LOLWUT ? Rosol-Nadal R2 ?

Weren't Isner-Mahut drawn to meet in R2 "coincidentally" the year after their marathon happened ? (of course the match never happened thankfully).

I don't think Rosol is going to make it to round 2 this time.

Keen to see Saville and Kyrgios hope they do well.

If all Aussies were to make the 2nd/3rd round I wouldn't complain. Would like one to do well though, hopefully 4R/QF/SF

Only one's who could do that in my mind are Tomic, and Lleyton via a miracle.

But if Fed's playing S&V at Wimby, and Lleyton makes it to a match with him, I'll be excited.

Kyrgios to hopefully give Gasquet a good run, I feel his game transfers well to grass.

Wow, Murray got a really good (easy) draw!

Bautista Agut, Fognini, then Ferrer. On grass!

Also, lol at Nadal getting Rosol in the 2nd round. Just, lol.

2013 Aegon Champs

Dimitrov and Del Potro

2013 Kooyong Classic before that: Raonic, Berdych, Del Potro ;)

2013 Kooyong Classic is exhibition. That doesnt count.
2013 Aegon - Dmitrov was not top 20. But Sam Querrey was .

I would like Hewitt to make the 4R. He has had so many tough draws since 2005, mainly at AO.

Worse than ever? To quote myself from the Rafa's back thread:

But you must have understood what i meant. His knee was no good. in 2012 it was the worst. I have the same knee injury, its easy too see when the knee is bothering him too much. Also on bit humid grass it was slippery. I live 20 min walk from AELTC, this year the weather so much better, dryer. Better grass. Rafa with much better knee also.
Really great he didn't go far in Halle. He should never have played that tournament anyway. Queens is exactly like Wimbledon, same grass and balls. Much better practice before wimbledon.
They test the grass types(which has changed many times past years) and also the length of tha grass. Obviously they try to get rid of serve and volley.
I can give an h speech about this. lol
And they use the same people to do the grass as in wimbledon. The grass testing is in middle of uk, not london. If someone interested i can make a thread about this. but only for nerds maybe.
I met a guy that works w the lawns aeltc, i asked a lot about the grass and such the years federer ruled and 2008 when rafa won. And now.

But in the end I mean, its much more than the grass and balls that determine a winner, hahahaha. so much more.
