Jack Sock backs up his Delray title with a flame out in 1R Acapulco to Nishioka. Zed the Younger wins Montpellier and then loses 1R to Mahut. Twice in three weeks!

I can remember one more prominent occurrence of title hangover...Tsonga won Toronto'14 and then crashed 1&4 to The Colonel at TRS. I also know Kohlschreiber has done it twice, winning Halle'11 before failing in 1R Wimby to Istomin and also winning Kitzbuhel'14 before losing 1R at TRS
to Sousa.

Anybody got some other title hangovers to share???

Have you not seen Octobrina, NSK before he got banned, nadal_winning, (more like whining if you ask me) or clay queen?
Tell me about it. Have never defended rabid Nadal fans either. If you have read my posts in the past, you can see that I've called out BOTH sets of fanbases for their imbecile behaviour. But none of those guys you mentioned above are liked on this forum or get glorified as "funny". So I don't understand why Vive gets a free pass and his blatant hatred is bypassed in the name of "humour" and he doesn't get called out for what he is? - an extremely sadistic hater who takes pleasure in someone's miseries more than the success of his favourites and devotes his time hating a player so much as if he has caused some personal harm to him.

What do you think is the reason that 99% of haters are called out as total morons by others and sometimes even by their fanbase while vive gets a free pass? :D

Its a real shame that a guy like you whose only purpose on this forum is to spew hatred on a great player gets termed as "funny".:oops:

Personally I find it more of a shame when people fail to detect humor and confuse it with the actual heinous elements in here just because one's favorite player is the butt (no bun pun intended) of the jokes. See and compare e.g., a poster blasphemously named after Scottish spirits for an example of purely unfunny hatred of the Nadal.

And yeah, what @Doctor/Lawyer Red Devil said — why do you think that the vast vast majority in here agree that Vive is benign and hilarious compared to other 'haters' (also compared to other Nadal haters)? It could of course be that they are all wrong and you're the only one who really gets it, but the more likely explanations would perhaps be that you're simply not 'getting it'.

And Canas again in Miami...Zed the Younger just deflated very similarly and now skips Acapulco to regroup. Hope it works.

That year Roger also lost back-to-back against another player from my country: Nalbandian (Madrid and Paris)

I'm sorry, but if you cannot sense the difference between VLBJ! and the already mentioned certified Nadal-a s s kissers, then I pity you.

Just looking at Simon right now, and he lost in the match after his title wins in Marseille 07, Bucharest 07, Casablanca 08, Bucharest 08, and Hamburg 11. I don't think it's that uncommon really. Lots of factors could play a part in this, fatigue, jet lag, zoning opponent, etc. It's not that uncommon for a player to have a little letdown after a title win.

Edberg's upset IMO helped Sampras a lot that year in winning the USO.

Edberg was a bit of a nemesis for Sampras in slams. Pete lost to him in back to back slams at one point: USO 1992-AO 1993.

Right, and Sampras was much better at 21 than at 19, while Edberg was worse at 26/27 than at 24 - plus he was quite severely injured in the 1993 AO (playing with a back brace from halfway through his 3rd round match against Mansdorf), and still won in straight sets despite Sampras leading 4-0 in set 1 and 5-3 in set 3. Because of his back spasms, Edberg was warming up very slowly, hence going down 0-4 against Sampras and then 2-6 1-6 against Courier in the final.

All in all, I'm confident that, had Edberg not made a pig's ear of his match against Volkov, he'd have gone into every match en route to the final as firm favorite. Sampras would have had an outside shot, but it would have been an outside one. As for the final, Agassi was obviously very dangerous and could have beaten everyone, but judging from how he actually did play in the final, there's every chance he wouldn't have shown up against Edberg, either. Had he played to his full capacity, he'd have been a very tough proposition and it would have been a 50-50 match. If I recall correctly, they split four matches that year, with Edberg winning in Indian Wells and the round-robin of the Masters, and Agassi winning in Miami and the final of the Masters.
