I really love 7 of these 8 players and am excited with these quarter-finals. I don't like Tiafoe but the other seven excite me. Secretly hoping Alcaraz Garfia wins this tournament but am not expecting him to win. I love Pablo and would love for him to win too. Just worried about Tiafoe, otherwise a fun tournament with interesting quarterfinal matchups!
 
With the quick turnaround time before embarking on Bo5 in a testing climate it’s a wonder anyone with real ambitions for a deep run at USO is still playing. Yeah, I’m talking to you, Senor PCB. Time for a non-obvious strategic tank vs Ivashka so a bit of rest happens before Flushing 1R.

Why don’t you like Tiafoe? He seems extremely likeable.

Odd that Tiafoe is the only player you don’t like out of 7 some of which are not exactly big time player I wonder what it is about him you don’t like?
 
Busta my fave. Then Tiafoe. That Wimbledon win over Tsitsy was delicious.
 
Tiebreak between Carreno Busta and Ivashka in the first set of their match...
 
Ivashka wins the tiebreak - can Pablo turn this match around? It's incredibly close! Both are playing well.
 
Ivashka is serving like a madman.

Also - in person I felt the courts were around Cincinnati level-fast. How does it look to you guys?
 
Ruusovuori is playing poorly; Gasquet is winning in this first set... Can Ruus make a comeback??

Interesting that you mentioned Hurk...

With the slight parsing that Hurkacz had somewhat better results than Ruusuvuori at the same age,

Hurkacz born in February 97, wins 2019 W-S
Ruusuvuori born in February 99, ??? 2021 W-S

This could be the breakthrough tournament Sinner-lite has been looking for.
 
How can you not like Tiafoe @Vamos Rafa Nadal ? He gets it, the entertainment aspect of tennis. His serve and FH are deadly when firing as well. He’ll be perennial dangerous flyer material for any HC slam and really seems to be enjoying himself out there.
 
I am rooting so hard for Carlos, really hope he wins tonight...
 
I would prefer for Carlos to win his 2nd tournament but if not there will be a first time tournament winner for certain! I like Giron but I LOVE Alcaraz Garfia!!!!

So happy with Ymer's win!

He beat Berrettini in Paris last year which was an amazing win for him.

Yep. Getting a little infuriated with the “Vamooooos” guy, he was here last night and was actually chatting quite a bit to Fucsovics. Clearly one of those who doesn’t speak Spanish either just says Vamos like hola or gracias lol.

I don’t mind a fan and tbh I love the Alcaraz game but talking like that to players is a bit much.

Ymer Tiafoe was fun. Ymer especially would be a fan favorite if he was a little better.

I don't know how the Alcaraz FH looks on TV but it's an absolute rocket in person.

The service games will be very cringey for the next few years but his ground game is already, even at 18, well accomplished. Great match quality-wise.
 
YES! Way to go Carlos!!!! Carlos has the potential to become a top player in 3-4 years, if he stays healthy, and continues to grow. I haven't been this excited about a player in a very long time!
