Wintergreen in VA

Anyone been here lately? How does the tennis experience compare to a Saddlebrook or Bolleteri/IMG? Impressions from reading online reviews are that it attracts few players and seems less intense? Is that right? Would welcome any first hand impressions.

Well, I learned how to ski there when I was like 5 years old, and I remember dancing pretty hard in one of the bars (my parents were pretty cool).

But that's about it. Sorry can't be of more help, just bought back memories for me.

I live in Charlottesville and have attended 2 Wintergreen "Academies" and done individual instruction there. I loved them! The facilities are really nice and the instruction was top notch. Admitting I don't have extensive experience I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I did drive from home each time so I can't comment on the lodging, but Wintergreen looks like a pretty nice place to stay.

Last time I was at Wintergreen was the summer of 1982. Played the Wintergreen Classic (I believe it was called) in the U14s. Won my first round and then lost 6-0,6-3 in the second round to a guy named Joby Foley (the first seed). The problem with the first set was that it was... a golden set - I didn't win a single point. (Then, of course, I won three games in the next set - go figure.) Arggh... you play enough tennis you'll see some strange results.
