With a Us open win Nadal will have his best ever Grand slam season.

With a win at flushing meadows Rafa will have his best ever grand slam season at the age of 36 with a record of 26-0 eclipsing 2010’s record of 25-1. It’s amazing if he will have another 3 slam season and will be 1 behind Roger and Novak in that department which is quite good considering his favourite surface has only 1 out of 4 slams

Maybe the Biden admin will pull a Wimbledon and ban Russian athletes. That would improve Rafa’s chances even more without Novak and Russians. Plus Kyrgios getting sick from bad sushi.

But has he reached his peak superiority relative to the field that has been declining in strength around him?
Could be, the same scenario occurred with Djokovic last year. Now Nadal has the benefit of the same field and a Djokovic who has done the favor of eliminating himself from BOTH HC Slams.

So either we’ve got a weak field, or perhaps 35 is the golden age. Not sure yet.

Same for me. If I win the USO 22, this would be my best GS season

Yes we'll just pretend it's better than 2010 because he withdrew instead of taking a loss at one of the tournaments.

You seem SO fun lol my goodness what a drag, it's literally mind boggling how you've managed to never even make a halfway positive post about ANYTHING. The black hole of ttw  suck us all in bestie :D

He’ll be undefeated in every slam for the whole year.

but it’s very unlikely that he’ll win. Most likely he’ll retire in the first week

It's a shame he had to wait until Fed was gone, Nole banished from AO, & rusty up to the FO! Nadal might've gotten his CYGS but for Djokovic back to standards! :-D
Fed's 40 with 3 knee surgeries, he's just not a threat anymore sadly. Even if he played this year, he'd win as many slams as he won without playing in them and that's zero

I didn't say FED was a threat! That was the point of the comment, "Roger's old" and out of it! :giggle::D:laughing::-D

And the most important factor at the US Open is Nadal's record vs. Medvedev which indicates a huge mental edge that is only getting bigger! The mental power generated by coming back from 2-sets down in the AO Final and then the 63 63 beatdown at Acapulco was Nadal's best performance of the year :happydevil:
The best US Open draw for Nadal is maybe to get Medvedev in the SF, and then get a debutant in the Final because debutants are almost always too nervous to win anyway....

So much for this clay-court specialist.

I find it wrong to insist on the "unbeaten" thing (26-0) if he pulled out of a tournament. However, the statement "best ever Slam season" would still be true with 3 titles and a SF. Would be slightly above 2010 with 3 titles and a QF.

Don't underestimate the Laykold factor, guys. This kind of HC that the USO has been using since 2020 is also in Miami, where Nadal has never been able to win a title. Nadal will have a tougher time at Flushing Meadows than in the recent past (2017 & 2019).

In 2010 he beat Soderling, Berdych and Novak for the titles.

In 2021 he beat Medvedev, Ruud and ??? for the title. Cool.
