With Murray's loss today, is Federer guaranteed #2 Year End Ranking?
Is that a record?
What's the record for consecutive top 2/3 finishes?
I think so. Even if Murray were to win the WTF, I don't see how he would now catch Roger up in ranking points.
At least Murray has improved his YE ranking to #3 which is at least a step up from finishing #4 the last 4 or 5 years!
YE Top 2 : Federer 9, Connors 8, Nadal 7
YE Top 3 : Connors 12, Federer 10, Sampras, Lendl 9
These are not all consecutive though.
I can give you the consecutive weeks:
Top 2: Federer 346, Connors 300, Lendl 280
Top 3: Connors 507, Lendl 497, Federer 432
ant thats only because nadal is injured...
Excellent news. Now I can enjoy the remainder of the season.
Loving the upsets in Paris so far. Nice to see some new faces in the latter rounds.
Federer, Nadal and Djokovic were EQUAL in the race when Nadal decided to play no longer.
They were talking about Murray finishing higher than #4 for the first time ever because Naval is injured...
Roger forever #1 (or does that do in the other thread?)
ant here's the ...
Post of the month
p.s. thanx warmaster for the interesting stats.
Djokovic is guaranteed to finish #1.
Federer is guaranteed to finish #2.
Murray is guaranteed to finish #3.
It might be the first time the top 3 positions have all been unchangeable before the World Tour Finals exhibition event.
Don't forget Nadal is guaranteed to finsh 4th.
No, he's not, he could finish lower. But it hardly matters, since Nadal holds a winning record over everyone in the top 10, unlike Federer, who barely has a convincing H2H over anyone in the top 4, so winning slams should still be easy for Nadal.
Which he demonstrated by winning Wimbledon and the USO this year.
When will they get time to play an exhibition event!? They should instead be focused on the prestigious season end finals - the number 5 event on the tennis calendar!
What is his H2H against #100?
Guess if you are not active on the circuit, it is all meaningless anyway.....
#100 is ANDREAS HAIDER-MAURER and Nadal never played against him!
Yes if Murray wins WTF and Federer fails to gather a single win, Murray will have 9100 points max with Fed at 9465, so yes Federer guaranteed #2.
Not if Ferrer goes on a tear.
This also means that Federer keeps up the streak of finishing ahead of Murray as well. For all the hard work Murray has done over the years, as well as the positive h2h he has with Roger. There's no season in which he objectively performed better than Rog. I think that may very well be a novity for next year.
