Women: What racquet do you use and why?

We see so many posts from men about which racquets they use and why. What do you women use and how did you pick that particular racquet? Do you typically change racquets often or stick with the same one for a long time.

I may be a man, but I am gifted with women's intuition.

Anyways:

My mom: 50 something and using Prince Thunderbolt OS
My sister: 25 and uses Prince Diablo OS (only in available in asia)

I currently use Fischer M Pro #1 UL, but have only been using it for 4 months. I used a Volkl Cat 6 prior to that, but wanted something with feel but more stability.

I keep a Wilson HH 5.3 in my bag for when I want a totally different feel and want to hit the pooh out of the ball. I have used it for whole matches or for when I feel my serve just isn't getting my punch. It is a great serving stick, but lacks some consistency. It is light and powerful, which sometimes I want.

The Fischer is slightly heavier than what I have been using over the last 5 years, and has such nice feel. Volleys work well also.

I have a full swing on both sides, and like to play aggressive. Both racquets have great qualities and also some limitations. I know I need to stick with one, but just can't resist sometimes the urge to switch around to a totally different feel.

I use both a n6.1 95 and a Redondo MP. Specs-wise, both are very similar aside from the flex. I like to use the Redondo when I haven't played in a while b/c it's so comfortable but the Wilson is my main racquet. I like the ~ 12 oz. racquets and they work well for a one handed backhand and full swings on both sides.

Gocard, did you go to Santa Fe yet? I remember a post but didn't respond. I live in Albuquerque and could give you some tips, or maybe even hook up. What level are you? I know a few folks and could get you info.

my mom plays with the prince 03 white, sister with the wilson ntour (1)... and girlfriend who is on scholarship on a d1 tennis team uses the new pure storm with lead @12

I'm currently using Volkl DNX 3. I do well if I use the same racquet for 2 years since I either just want to try something new or the frames go dead. I just started demoing racquets this week and since our pro shop no longer carries Volkl, I'm starting from scratch. So far, the only racquet I like is the Wilson KFour OS. I play doubles only, now, so like a fairly powerful racquet but also good control.

I switched from a Head Radical OS to the Wilson KFour MP last December. I wasn't planning on switching, but during a lesson my pro pretty much ripped the racquet out of my hand (in disgust) and replaced it with her racquet (the K4 OS). Instant improvement. I never hit with the Head again, though after a bit of demoing I decided to go with the MP over the OS because of better control and overall feel.

That's good to know, Topaz. I'm going to try the KFour OS again tomorrow but am concerned it may have too much power so will also try the MP.

Definitely try both! I was *thisclose* to getting the OS, but everything was just a bit better (for me) with the MP, and I've been loving it ever since.

PS...and the MP still has plenty of power!

Tell your mother that she has something in common with my favorite two handed American player. ;)

I use a Prince Warrior MP. My coach was a Prince Pro at the time I started taking lessons (2002) and he got me a great price on it. If I find something I really like I might switch. I demoed an 03 Red for a few weeks and kind of liked it, but not enough to drop $200+ on it. I don't play consistently enough these days to spend that kind of money on a racquet.

I am a wannabe Serve and Volleyer, which means that I usually serve, approach the net at the WORST time, and get passed at least 60% of the time. ;) I play with an Eastern grip (old school baby!) and have a two handed backhand, mostly flat strokes, a little bit of spin on my forehand. I mostly suck at tennis, but I don't care. A bad day of tennis is better than a good day at work. :)

Doesn't seem like any woman (at least not ones that visit the TW message boards) uses one of the women's lines of racquets from Head and Wilson.

I've had two female friends, one about a 3.5 and the other about a 2.5 that have demoed those and don't like them whatsoever.

Most of those racquets geared toward women are so light. I don't see how anyone can use them. BUt thats just me.

I'm using the Boris Becker V1 MP. I switched from the Volkl V1 Classic.

Volkl V1 Classic is still an option for me. I have never hit with one, but I do love Volkls and I like the specs on it.

One to keep in mind next time I feel the need for a switch.

My wife uses the old Wilson 4.3 OS frame. A lot of women she plays with use mostly lighter Wilson and Prince models. She is rated 3.5 and plays both 3.5/4.0 if that helps.

Oh yeah, she prefers it because it's an oversize and light.

My Gurl, uses a Nblade OS. She was using Prince o3 White, wasn't enough control, and was to stiff for her. She also uses the Fischer mag tour from time to time, but She prefers the Nblade OS. More power and its a little longer, better for her 2 handed BH and serves.

I use a Babolat Pure Storm Tour. It's a nice weight. Most of my friends prefer Wilson and Prince models.

lol i use prince speedport black w/ o ports instead of grommets...
surprised that lots of women used it in the tourney because here i barely see anyone using it..
got it because of all the good reviews plus i demoed it and it was the best demo i tried out of numerous racquets..
plus i loved the fact that it was black :)
