Yeah, its great how she took charge when it was needed. Compare that to others who DF on MPs!!!!
 
flavia is tough as nails. she didnt give an inch on all those match pts down, just swinging away and finishing pts with accuracy and placement. that set had real drama, not multitudes of df and errors like other wta matches.

dent is gonna get murdered anyway, so enjoy this while it lasts.
 
I just don't get why Zvonerava didn't take a crack at one of those balls on at least one of the match points. Maybe you miss it, but at least you actually try to win the match instead of waiting for your opponent to lose it. SMH!!!
 
Zvonareva has 7 match points blows them all, Pennetta has one set point and wins it. She choked. The way they were grunting on match points, it felt like they were fighting to the death.

I wouldn't call it a choke.Almost every one of those MPs was saved by Penneta rather than lost by Zvonareva.Not converting MPs doesn't equal choking,there's another player across the net who affects the outcome as well.I thought Penneta played amazing to save those MPs,I expected her to flinch each time but she stayed rock solid.
 
Its amazing how any player could blow 7 match points, all in one set. I agree with with others have said that Zvonerava should have been more aggressive on the match points such as hitting an approach shot and rushing the net or chip and charge of Pannettas serve.
 
Zvonereva is undergoing a grade-A meltdown here...WTF happened to this girl?

Both knees taped up, ankle brace, all sorts of tape, 7 match points blown, slipping, falling, hitting herself, crying, yelling...It's weird...
 
Zvonareva is so mentally fragile I don't know whether to cheer her on or recommend her to a therapist.
 
I love how Zvonareva's grunts get progressively higher pitched whilst the rallies go on whilst Pennetta just shifts her around the court without a sound. Pennetta has completely crushed her mentally
 
Historically, this has been the case with Vera. It had been what's kept her from really breaking into the top. She got better at controlling her emotions, rose up the rankings, had a great season last year. Her ankle injury seems to also have conjured up her mental demons as well.

Flavia, on the other hand, is about as mentally strong as you can get, IMO. Though, she does always play her best when she is down in the score.
 
Daniel Koellerer is funny. I loved it when Koellerer threw his hands in the air when he won a point against Del Potro down 40 love near the end of the match. We need more Daniel Koellerer's.

Pennetta is doing everything she needs to, Zvonareva has capitulated after failing to take any of those mp's

even the net cord going Pennetta's way now =p

I couldnt stop laughing when Daniel Koellerer threw his hands in the air, yelled yes! then kissed the net towards the end of the match while Del Potro was up 40 love.
