Darn. I was about to create the thread.

That said, you could have just made it a 3 choice poll: Serena, Venus, and Other.

This is for all practical purposes the Williams' Slam.

Woz is NOT coming out of her group.
Venus should advance.
Serena might have more trouble.
Jankovic never does well here, so she's not advancing.

The Williams sisters definitely lucked out. What a cakewalk draw for both, but especialy for Serena. Not that I am complaining. I would like to see a Venus-"Schiavone quarterfinal. If Schiavone can bring the same net rushing and varied tactics she showed in winning the French that could be a fun and interesting match.

Henin and Clijsters really got a terrible draw. Only 1 of them at most even in the quarters, and Petrova could potentially come out of that section too especialy as Petrova seems to be playing well this year and has beaten Venus, Serena, Clijsters, already in 2010.

I'm disappointed to see that Lisicki withdrew, haven't seen her play in a long time. Her rankings gonna drop to 70-80 too...will be tough to get back to the top 20.

On another note, I don't plan on paying attention to the Womens game that much. Every time I decide to watch my player loses :(

Serena is the obvious choice in my opinion... Venus would be my second pick.

Can't exactly fathom how people think Henin is going to win it though.

SW is the favorite, but I want to see Venus take this from some hungry players and remind the world of her status on th surface. Henin's section..well this will be the test for her "win Wimbledon" changes to her game. Should be interesting no matter who emerges from that section.

It's possible like anything, but yeah she has got to fix her serve or she won't make it past Clijsters.

That's such a crap draw for both of them though. Whoever wins that match probably advances to the semis.

Honestly I think Stosur has a decent chance to win, but I don't see it happening unless Venus Williams goes out.

Yeah, same ankle injury that occurred at the US Open. She still hasn't fully recovered from it, been out since Miami. Shame too, she has the game (and the serve) to be a GC contender in the future.

Serena should come out of her section.
Tough between Azarenka and Rezai, Stosur's not a great closur, imo.
Tough between Kim and Justine, too. Kim's too streaky, and so is Justine in her comeback.

Venus-Serena final. Serena winning!

By not being blind WS fanbois.

One doesnt have to be blind to see Henin failed in epic fashion to win the slam that nearly everyone assumed (with good reason) that she was a virtual lock for. One doesnt have to be blind to see Henin has won only one tournament in her comeback thus far. Thus given this evidence there is zero relevant reason to pick her to win the only slam she hasnt won for the first time. Not that it is impossible but there is nothing that suggests it is remotedly likely this year.

As a betting site article I read recently said- Henin's form is simply not GS winning calibre right now. If it were she would have won the French Open.

Agreed; she changed her game for this slam, but her fans cannot guarantee such a troubled, new style is going to pay off--or give her the ability to defeat the best on this surface. Only time will tell.

Uh,Venus win this please. I'm looking forward to your 6th Wimby crown shortly after your 30th birthday. The title should make a great present.

By the way,I'm looking forward to potential R16 exciting matches - Serena/Sharapova and Henin/Clijsters/Petrova. I think Masha is a dangerous floater and Henin just won Den bosch. I know its not a huge title, but I heard Henin's coach saying that she came back to tennis just for the sake of winning Wimby. It has become her main and sole purpose staying in the WTA tour for now,so I believe she will have even more determination and willpower to go far than ever. So I think Henin will reach the semifinal at least.

With Safina withdrawing, Oudin takes Safina's seed. Slight chance of the the deck. Dubois takes Oudin's original spot.

Voted for Schiavone, dont think she will but hope she does, a refreshing change in a very stale field.

Venus and Serena should both come through to the Semi's. Jankovic and Woz being the other top seeds, I don't see either doing well. Jankovic has never been past the 4th rd here, Woz may do better but I don't see her in the Semi-Finals. Honestly, this slam is still Williams Territory, with Stosur, Clijsters and possibly Henin and Sharapova as very distant outsiders. Oh wait...Sharapova has Serena early on...scratch her she won't be able to build the momentum she needs to take out Serena.

That's assuming Sharapova even gets there. She's been woeful at Wimbledon the past 4 years.

Sharapova hasn't beaten a TOP 40 player all season long. Top 40. I really don't like her chances, unless Hantuchokva does her Hantuchokva thing 3R. People just aren't intimidated by Sharapova anymore.

Daniella will carry on her tradition and mentally retreat after a few great games of play, regardless of Sharapova form, though do think Dani has got the game to take out Maria and expose her, but she wont.

Serena will win.

Venus is 30 already and she is not Steffi or Navratilova. Not good enough to win slams in her 30s...

As if Venus needed more help in her section...as of now the only one that has a sliver of a shot of taking out Venus on grass is Bartoli, and that's VERY unlikely.

Unless Bartoli's skills have matured to a degree beyond the level seen in their previous Wimbledon meeting, Bartoli will be nothing more than a minute egg for Venus.

Lol, that vortex guy is pitching a fit in the other thread b/c Henin's on Court 12. Called the tourney organizers imbeciles, and Jankovic-Robson mugs. Funny how the mugs both have Wimbledon titles (Jankovic mixed, Robson juniors) while his girl Justine still doesn't!

Venus was injured from her 1st match and made the finals, this year she is in good form & in health, so I dont see why she cant win this year, she got a great chance too.

Graf retired at 30. Her last slam title was when she was 29. Navratilova is an anomaly.

Navratilova was a super late bloomer, probably the latest of any great player in history. She had won only 2 slams before her 25th birthday. That is why her prime continued into her early 30s unlike any other players. Even she won only 3 slams after her 30th birthday though, and only one once Graf began her prime (one which Graf lost before playing her).

As for Graf she won her final French about a week before her 30th birthday then lost the Wimbledon final at 30 before retiring.

I would like Justine to win Wimbledon so very much, but I know it ain't gonna happen. She will probably lose to Clijsters.

Serena is winning this year's Wimbledon. I just cannot see anyone in the draw stopping her, not even Venus.

First match of Wimbledon 2010 has started,Clijsters vs Camerin.

Clijsters has raced to a 4-0 lead so far. The grass on Court 2 is looking real lush and green, beautiful sight to behold. Clijsters is striking the ball well, very very clean strokes.

Camerin just gets lobbed. 40-30 Clijsters on her serve.

5-0 Clijsters. What a way to start. Amazing return from Clijsters puts her up 40-0 on Camerin's serve.

First set to Clijsters 6-0. Camerin,I believe has bounced and tossed the ball more than any other female player, except for Ivanovic and Venus.

Lol Doubles and Juniors titles are serious business, I hear. Way better than 2 finals in real competition, right?

Brits are really hilarious if they think other people are interested in seeing their "local hope" get embarrassed, but whatever I guess, that Robson girl can have her 1 hour of glory (if that).
