World #1 Novak Djokovic has not....

Both Masters wins were weak diluted fields where Djokovic never faced a top 10 player. He was still challenged at the fake Cincy Masters only for both guys to fold like a cheap tent. I fully expected him to win everything during that time on HC. Not because he was unstoppable but because of the comp either being inferior or choking on cue. No Nadal, Federer, Wawrinka. Then Rome where the two most in form players (Thiem & Zverev) couldn't come because of stupid stacked schedule while Nadal hadn't played in 5-6 months. Easy pickings via superior skill or choking.
You can’t expect Novak fanboys to be objective. Anyone with half a brain knows he vultured the two weakest masters titles of all time, including a fake Cincy. This added to the 6000 freebie points from W+Shanghai+Paris+AO

Nobody cares about what you think when the numbers are there and Djokovic is the most dominant player by far. It's his tour atm and no one is close. Deal with it
... and right on the cue the troll.

Agree with you, as long as his main rivals are:
"clayboy" Nadal
and a semi-retired Fed

so you essentially just confirmed weak era happening as we speak.

Well, I don't know of many people who have waxed lyrical about Fed's form outside of the slams in 2009.
Go ahead and include the slams! Fed choked in the AO final against Rafa (who played a 5+ hour marathon in the semis), and it took him an extended 5 sets and 4+ hours to get rid of Roddick in the Wimbledon final. And let's not even discuss the 2009 USO final. Fed was two points from that match and instead choked massively for the last 2 hours of the match. Fed's 2009-2010 form sucked for the most part, despite winning slams and other events.

No doubt Novak was not in his peak form during all of 2020, but the situation was the same for all players. Players chose their schedules, not Novak or anyone else. Fact is though that before the Covid break Noval won the AO, beating Federer, then Thiem in the finals. He also won the ATP Cup, beating Nadal in the finals. Even though it took Novak 5 sets to beat Thiem in the AO final, still he won. He then won Dubai. After the break, in his supposed lousy form he won 2 Masters, and reached the FO final. Had he not been defaulted, he may have won the USO. No doubt Nadal and Novak are no longer in their peak form, but like Federer at their age, both could still win more important tournaments or perhaps a slam or two.
No one is doubting that Djokovic or Nadal can win more slams. In fact, that's part of the point I'm making. Djokovic was gift wrapped 2 Masters and a USO (if he hadn't been careless) due to Covid. Skipped Paris because he was handed that. Tanked Vienna. Can do whatever he wants for the next few months and break a record doing it. All the while saving his body for the future if he so chooses. Say he gets down a set or two sets at AO and wants to say screw it. He can do that and in any round. He could break a bone or tear something. So what? Still get the points. He can fake it. The options are endless.

good joke man.
by the way, to make it clear to everyone that you are joking, I suggest that you write stronK.
The joke is trying to downgrade the level Thiem and Medvedev have shown lately. But also overall top 8. They are crazy strong.

That focus on the finals definitely undersells many of Fed's performances in the slams that year. Also, the bolded is pretty much irrelevant. We all saw how unaffected Nadal was and I don't think prizes for guessing why are going to be dished out anytime soon.

by lately you mean one tournament?
yeah, sure, this makes 2016 - 2020 very stronk years, because they played well in 1 tournament.

On the other hand "People's Champ" got about 1000 points for the whole 2020 season and is protected at #5, sipping latte somewhere in Switzerland...

Not 100% fact. Still had to show up and win matches. Still had to put his body on the line and add miles to it. By October and the end of this year who knows what kind of shape Djokovic would have been in? We don't know. He didn't have the option to sit out slams or know in the back of his mind that he could lose early and it wouldn't matter. Not saying he will sit out but you get the point. The option is there. Djokovic could literally take a 4 month vacation right now. Not even show up to Australia and make an assault afterwards with everything behind him. It's ludicrous.
He was the best player before the break, his best tournaments werent played and he still led 2020 points, sure an asteriod can wipe us all out so not 100% certain

Anything short of Djokovic winning AO or him going without beating a top 5 player between now and March you can rest assured there will be questions surrounding his deservingness.

It doesn't matter where Federer is ranked. Who cares? I don't. I prefer that he meet top players early myself. Federer isn't the one being handed a record.

Yeah this.

If he wins AO, he kinda puts it to bed. Still lucky to vulture 2 weak masters but stamps his supremacy with another slam.

If he loses early, Thiem/Nadal go deep and he wins hardly any matches then definitely an * on the record amongst any intellectually honest tennis analysts. Will need to clear the record by 90-100 weeks, not just limp past it.

I'm willing to be fair on this. Djpkovic just needs the results and I will concede (y)

Exactly same. If he wins AO I’ll concede he would’ve been number 1 anyway without COVID points.

If Thiem or Nadal wins and Novak would have lost points then I’ll award an * until he clears it by at least a year’s worth of weeks.

I won't put a number on the weeks just yet, but I'll say that it has to feel right. Won't know until the time comes.
