Worst Crowd in Tennis, USO

"Thanks for talking between points, during points....your conversations were fantastic!"

Only Nole can get away with saying stuff like that:D
Fed and Nadal wouldn’t have to say that because no convos would take place during their matches. The crowd would be interested and respective enough to watch them play. Djoker is not a darling of the NYC crowds and never has been.

Not exactly true. They loved him in 2007 when he was doing the impressions. Then in 2008 Roddick mocked him in a press conference and he shot back in the on court interview after he beat Roddick in the 2008 QF, which wasn't the smartest thing to do even though I understand he was defending himself.

Then he did his little damage control skit with McEnroe in 2009 which was well received I thought. The NYC crowd likes Djoker. They just don't like him beating up on an old man. ;)

You’re extremely misinformed about the USO crowd and playing off grotesque stereotypes.

And as I attempted to explain, there isn’t one “USO crowd.” The bad behavior seems to happen at Kids Day which is a day many come out to that never go another day. There are plenty of non-NYorkers that come to it from other cities (e.g., Philly, Boston, people on vacation) so there is no solid basis for assuming where the bad actors are from.

I’ve been to other tournaments in the US and you can obviosly get awful behavior anyplace.

Incidentally, the USO is a great sporting event that will move from NYC well never.

And we won’t get into the multitude of ugly stereotypes of Florida of all places: “It really bothers me when non-Americans confuse Floridians with mainstream Americans. We don’t all spend our weekends at gun shows and our nights at strip clubs.” :p
So the Osaka-Serena finale was at kids day, was it?

Interesting kids they've got in NY, all grown up with beer-bellies.

The US Open crowds behave like children every time. Maybe that's why you believe it's due to kids' day?

As for Florida, I suggested it simply because it happens to be the CENTER OF TENNIS in the States. Kind of obvious, or was supposed to be.

That said, the US Open should remain rowdy and annoying as it is the entire point of the event
So the point is that... you enjoy watching players being annoyed by rowdy crowds?

The US Open would be a great slam without the annoying crowds. They can be loud, but not obnoxious. There's a difference.

Lol this is so wrong. The USO crowd is hardly a NY crowd anyways. I bet it’s not even 50% NYers on the weekends.

And to complain about tennis crowds based on Kids days where the entire purpose is to promote the game to non tennis kids and families is hilarious beyond belief. The people here are largely parents and families who don’t know much about tennis at all, but their kids want to see their favorite Disney performers in person.
I didn't complain about kids's day. Kids' day doesn't last two weeks. In fact, as far as I'm aware, there is not one day in the week that lasts 14 days.

The USO crowds are obnoxious, and because USO is held in NY, I will have to assume there are way more NYers there than Brazilians or Swedes.

I assume you are using “behave like children” in a negative sense ? If so, IMO bad crowd behavior as opposed to I don’t like how they cheer between points (or boo) involves such examples as attempting to or actually touching a player or interfering with the match by calling out during points or bothering fellow members of the crowd during points by, for example, constant talking during points or blocking their view with banners/flags.

Also, the crowd is not monolithic. It’s really not. If your point was the Women’s Finals crowd “always acts like children” you would have to explain specifically what that means before I could agree or not but if you mean booing when you prefer it not the crowd is sometimes not as informed about what is happening and/or why than the TV audience. So they may just hear “penalty” especially one causing loss of a game and boo. If you mean such things as repetitive chanting of Ole’ I might agree somewhat but say it may be more or less annoying to some but not “bad behavior.”

Bottom line though, if you find them childish in a negative way then so be it. I don’t get why they clap during the point challenge reviews but they nearly always do. Something to do I guess. It’s supposed to be fun so if it isn’t don’t watch.:)
