what is the worst string
This is entirely subjective.
I hate ALU Power, but hundreds of other people love it. Makes no difference to say what's good or bad.
forten nylon, is probably the crappiest string i can think of
Kirschbaum Pro Line I and II, complete crap
5 year old poly.
Kevlar. Stiff, harsh, dead, no feel, no power.
Gamma synthetic gut, the one with Wearguard in it...
Agreed, but I do love the vanilla version of Gamma synthetic gut.
BlueStar...before dad bought me gut he bought this crap for my Donnays.
Have you used it?
Tecnifibre Polyspins by itself, in a hybrid with Gamma SynGut it feels nice but this is just me
agreed. one shot with that stuff and i could scream in pain for days.
PHT 17 in a K90.
I agree with Kenny above and wonder the same. I will admit Forten Competition Nylon can feel mushy in a full job, but for the price you really can't complain. Where the Forten really shines is when hybrided with a moderately stiff to stiff Poly. Many have used Forten Nylon with stuff like Gosen Polylon Ice. I've tried Forten Nylon 16 (for the cross strings) hybrided with UATennis Super Polyester 17 (Generic) and it feels really crispy and very close to a full job of standard synthetic gut.
But yeah, this question really can't be answered as everyone has different tastes. I'd say the crappiest string I remember using was some thick 15 gauge beige Nylon, think it was Klipper brand.
I'm sorry J, but that Kevlar Rig in the BLX90 was argh.
Can we string it with ALUR @ 60, please Santa?
hollowcore is one of the worst strings ive used. next is any of the head synguts.
Wilson K-Gut Pro. Stiff, harsh, dead, no feel, no power.
What's your regular string? A poly?
Technifibre Promix - absolutely terrible, cut it out the same day played with it
Ashaway Liberty - had high hopes but played very boardy
Premium Blue Star - a nightmare to string and plays even worse
Gamma synguts - a truly mediocre line of strings; you have to pay me to play with them
Can't forget Ballistic Polymono... Only string I've ever cut out in exactly 15 hits both times I've tried it... I've even given multi more of a chance and I can't stand multis!
I hate Pro Hurricane Tour. Love Pro Hurricane though.
But like someone said above, this is completely subjective
i'm definitely NOT a fan of PHT...
PSG! Everyone who's had it, says it plays like crap. Another mediocre string mostly sold at sports chains.
*Prince Synthetic Gut
The stuff that comes on Walmart racquets that have been sitting on the shelf for a year or more.
I have to go with Ashaway Liberty. I guess you get what you pay for with that.
Other than that I am not a fan of any string that moves much at all. If they move I cut them out no matter how they play.
Prince SG Duraflex IMO
Moves like crazy, no feel, no power, no nothing.
prince topspin 15L
why do you say that ?? they were one of the highest rated poly in the history of polys..:???:
4 hour used Luxilon Alu Big Banger Power in the mains or 3 hour used Luxilon Big Banger ROUGH in the mains - just horrible elasticity maintenance for the steep price
Pro Hurricane Tour - hate this string, after 1 minute I hate it, after 10 minutes I hate it, and after 2 hours I hate it even more
PHT is one of the best strings ever among polys. Do you like the Babolat Revenge then ?? if so why ?:-?
Haven't tested the Revenge.
But have used the PHT several times and It's NOT for me
That string feels completly mute. I can get a better feeling from a cheap poly.
Don't even know if it is still available but by far the worst I have ever tried is Tuff Tight. Brings a tear to my eye even thinking about it.
You liked the Kevlar in the Bollocks Tour?
No which is I asked santa j0lly if we could string it up with Rough.
head syn gut pps and psgd...hate that stuff, feels horrible. but i like the babolat syn guts tho, lots of feel and nice power compared to the other two
i really don't like prince tournament nylon, cheap but not worth it
right now my set up is prince pro blends, but usually its phts 16g at 65
OK, just as I thought. Anyone that likes just about any poly will hate Hollow Core. They are polar opposites. For example, I love Hollow Core and hate polys. Hollow Core is soft as a pillow while poly feels as stiff as barbed wire to me.
Head RiP Control should go shove itself into a hole and stay there
tecnfibre x1 biophase
gosen og sheep
any forten string.
Gosen Polylon 16 gauge only lasts 2 hours max before all elasticity/power/spin find themselves in their afterlife.
I was a strict poly user for over a year, and have now switched to full syn gut. But the only poly worth mentioning (out of all the Poly I've tried) is Cyber Blue. (It was as soft as some of the stiffest/cheapest syn gut, with just as much power/elasticity, but with extra spin/control.) You just have to string it a few lbs lower than your normal full syn gut setup. Hmph, and the only reason stopping me from going back is the fact that they only last 4-6 hours before dying. (Since I use $2 syn gut that lasts nearly twice as long, it's hard to consider going back to all that.)
Gosen og sheep is a fine string in the 17 gauge natural option.
Sounds like you didn't really like poly all that much after all if there is only one poly "worth mentioning". Sounds to me like you're more of a nylon syn gut man.
And I agree. Full $2 syn gut beats almost all other set-ups, and definitely beats any poly, full or hybrid, for me.
You cannot be serious. Gosen OG Sheep Micro is one of the most loved strings worldwide of any type, and has been for decades.
At the time, I loved poly for the strokes I had. Luxilon/Babolat/Technifibre/Topsin came in at the top. But after commiting/making the switch, I found myself more in love with feel/easy power, rather than going all out on every shot. And IMO, Poly is for the player that loves to hit beyond what synthetic gut is capable of, and the extra spin/control is just a by-product which lands everything shorter. Ask J011y about his Kevlar/Poly setup.
You mean the 5.5 player that also breaks full Luxilon in 20 minutes?
I'm capable of neither.
I'll stick to syn guts, thank you very much. I also enjoy not having my arm in a sling.
