Would Federer have beaten Djokovic today

So many are saying berretini played well. I did not see that at all. Forecourt play was embarrassing. His drop shots were worse than mine and mine are bad but at least i get ball half way up the net as opposed to bouncing before hitting the net.
His BH was just dreadful and his two big weapons the serve and FH were very inconsistent. Yet he took Djokovic 3 and a half hours and got him to go psychotic.
Now, picture this. Roger Federer on other side of net. Whole crowd raucously supporting him . Federer has 20 Majors. Djokovic desperate to chase him down. Federer has a better serve than Berretini, nor has hard but much better directed. His returns are 10 levels above Berretini. His forecourt game 20 levels above.
On the basis of what Djokovic brought tonight could Federer have beaten him? I think he could have done i really do. I think Djokovic woukd have imploded like he did at the end today but a lot earlier.
Federer would have thrashed Berretini in r16 as he would have sliced every BH as Berretini cannot hit his FH or BH off low paced slice shots.
I said it at the time and ill say it again. Federer made a mistake withdrawing. He had a shout at SF. We will never know of course. Neither will he. And that is kind of the point.
Well TBH if Fed could have won the first 2 sets he could have won. But I would reckon Fed could have lost in 4-5 but the sets could have been more closer at his current form.

No wonder Djokovic fans would now elevate Berrettini level of play as ATG in that quarterfinal eventhough they know berrttini failed to create a BP.

Not in a million years.. Don't understand how anyone can even contemplate 40 year old Federer defeating Djokovic on clay

Right, we desperately need "Federer is 2021 RG moral winner" thread.

The last two sets Berrettini played at an extremely high level, and so did Djokovic who played at a very high level throughout the match. Djokovic couldn't break him once except the very last game and if you look at the return games there wasn't much Djoko could have done in those. Berrettini played exceptionally well, and for Djoko to break he needed a few loose errors from him wich actually came in that very last game.

I doubt Federer would get past Berrettini so easily, and no, I don't see how Federer who is way off match fitness and form could take out a well playing Djokovic. I actually think Berrettini was the toughest player Novak could have gotten.

No way this old federer manages to hit through nole in night conditions.
Blazing hot sun and I'd maybe give him a chance, gentleman.
