Would Henman have won a final at Wimbledon?

The trials and tribulations of Tim Henman at Wimbledon are well-documented with his numerous semifinal and quarterfinal losses. However, were he to win any of those matches, would he have gone on to win Wimbledon?

1996: Lost to Martin in the quarters, would have played Washington in the semis and Krajicek in the final
1997: Lost to Stich in the quarters, would have played Pioine in the semis and Sampras in the final
1998: Lost to Sampras in the semis, would have played Ivanisevic in the final
1999: Lost to Sampras in the semis, would have played Agassi in the final
2000: Lost to Philipoussis in the fourth, would have played Agassi in the quarters, Rafter in the semis and Sampras in the final
2001: Lost to Ivanisevic in the semis, would have played Rafter in the final
2002: Lost to Hewitt in the semis, would have played Nalbandian in the final
2003: Lost to Grosjean in the quarters, would have played Philipoussis in the semis and Federer in the final
2004: Lost to Ancic in the quarters, would have played Roddick in the semis and Federer in the final

I think his best chance was easily in 2002, though he could have mounted a challenge in 1996, 1998 and 2003 as well.

2001 and 2002 were his best chances.

It wouldn't have been easy against Rafter but I could see Tim, spurred on by the home crowd, winning in 5.

2002 of course, had he played anyone other than Hewitt, he would have won the whole thing easily. All the other top players were dropping like flies in the early rounds.

The problem would have been that even if had managed to make a Wimbledon final, the huge expectations of the British public would have been insurmountable for him. He had difficulty handling the expectations in the earlier rounds, let alone a final. And he always lacked something in his game - he was a solid player but lacked any one weapon to take him to the top tier.

2001 - he was 2-1 and a break up against goran (if I recall correctly). He was a terrific player on grass and it's a shame he never made a final. In addition to playing in the petros era, he didn't have the mental strength required.

That was a shame; he was totally rolling in the 4th against Goran. Then it rained, and they had to come back the next day, and Goran took it.

Yeah, it was annoying, Henman won the 3rd set 6-0 and was all over Goran.

But then the rain came...and came...and kept coming for a few days, and eventually Goran squeaked through.

2002 is the only one I could have seen him winning. Maybe 1998 as well. Otherwise I'd have him as the underdog all other times.

2001 and 2002 were his best chances.

He was so good and consistent on grass, but he was playing in a terrific grass era. So many great and dangerous grass players in all those years.
