Would Nadal and his fans trade.....

No.
WTF is irrelevant. It's a big title, yeah, but it's not meaningful. Otherwise, Nadal would have made sure to win it at one point, like he did with everything else that's worth having on your trophy cabinet.
Wasn’t for lack of trying. Played it 9 times, reached SF 5 times. Reached finals twice.

if not for Djokovic and Federer he’d probably have 4 WTFs by now and it would be among his best non clay tournaments.

does anyone argue that Nadal doesn’t care about the Davis Cup? Yet Nadal played only two more DCs than WTFs. The diference wasn’t in the interest Nadal showed, it was in the results

With the current AO competition? I don't see anyone beating Djokovic in AO in the next 5 years at the least.

I would pick a slam over anything else, no matter what. WTF is not nearly as important, and winning 1 such title will not really give him anything. It's not like he can bring some records in WTF or on the indoor hardcourt surface in general.
Current competition will not remain current for FIVE YEARS. You understand that, right? Current at a stretch might account for the next two. Even considering January 2022 current is kind of over the top.

Oh to live in a world where ifs and buts were facts. I'm not dealing with those parts. Those vacuums would have been filled by others who would have stopped Nadal.
Nadal did try, yes. He always tries. Have you ever seen him tank a match?
You keep your facts vague which suits your agenda. No mention of Nadal's lack of success on indoor in general or the number of times he's missed WTF.
You are now counting Davis Cup up there with WTF? Oranges and apples.

You seem to imply that Nadal never won the WTF because he wasn’t interested. I’m pointing out the data doesn’t support that. He was interested. He just couldn’t win it.

Winning the WTF this year, and winning zero slams in 2021 ?

What we thinking?

Obviously he could untimately win no majors next year anyway, but if you could have a slam or a WTF ?
Is this a trick question?

1 slam >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 5 WTF titles

Huge Nadal fan here. I would easily be fine with him not winning any additional slam for the rest of his career and taking 5 WTF titles instead.

world 'toast' finals where players are toast and are allowed to lose twice to win the title........how can anyone consider it equal to qatar open where everyone is fresh and cannot lose to win the title, let alone something as huge as a grandslam tournament is beyond me.........

A lot of Nadal fans downplay the WTF (just an exho, meme tourney, etc) but I do think it's an important tournament that is missing from Nadal's vast accomplishments (just like Fed/Djoker with the Olympics). But the answer is no. Winning another slam (even if it's "just another RG") means way more than the WTF.

In 15 attempts he has not won. Why dont we actually wait to see if he makes it to the final this time ?

How many of the next 5 AOs do you think Djokovic will win?

Why do you think he was laughing at it, genius?

Because he thought I tried to lie by calling myself a Nadal fan, which is why he only bolded the first sentence ? Nobody asked you anyway, mind your own business.

I would trade two Masters 1000 on clay for a WTF title for the great Spaniard.

I'd prefer to see Rafa winning an other slam than Roland Garros, but I would prefer to see him loosing anywhere but RG :-D If I can give him only 1 win next year, it is Roland Garros.
So definitely no trade.

Or he bolded it because that's the part he found funny...

I'll mind whichever business I want... nothing you can do about it... genius

And that's precisely the part he found funny because he thought I was being serious. Hence the smileys which are a way to say "lol you're not gonna fool anyone with your bs".

Wow, you'll mind whichever business you want ? So intimidating. Lol, keep acting like a tugh and embarrassing yourself. You're being annoying for something that has nothing to do with you just for the sake of defending a fellow Nadal fan without even properly getting what he really meant. You're not really in a good position to sarcastically call someone else a genius.

Yeah but less intimidating than you telling me to mind my own business on a public forum...

There's no embarrassing myself by pointing out that you're an idiot.

It was between him and me. I made a joke, he reacted to it in a certain way and I replied. Unless you're in his head and can speak on his behalf, you had no valid reason to interfer, even if it's a public forum. Not to mention he replied to me and we both moved on afterwards, which makes your intervention even more nonsensical and highlights your simple need to show everyone how big your third leg is. So yes, in this case, if somebody comes out of nowhere to take sides against someone in what is a personal matter for no good reason, it's only natural to tell him to mind his own business, that's not an intimidation attempt. Nobody talked about your legal rights, we're not in a court.

Keep calling me an idiot if that can make you feel bright. That's rich, coming from someone with such a simplistic view ("him Nadal fan, good, but him Djokovic fan, bad").

You're not bad for being a Djokovic fan...

You're bad for jumping the gun and trying to make him look stupid... you were happy to sarcastically call him a genius, yet can't take it the other way when I pointed out a completely valid way that he might have been thinking.

Next time think it more through before you try and put someone down if you don't like when it happens to you so much...

I don't care about you calling me a genius, that's not the point. It's about you interfering in this and doing so for the wrong reasons. Besides, when I called him a genius (which was of course not meant to be taken literally, the fact he didn't get the joke hardly makes him an idiot), it was because of his mockery and twisted interpretation of my humourous message. Whereas you're calling me a genius for something that doesn't even have anything to do with you to begin with. But again, that's not the point.

Wtf is overrated. Hyped by ATP.
Players take Indian Wells and Miami more seriously than WTF.

By season end, usually the player who remains the most fit gets it. Just see
17 - Dimitrov
18 - Zverev
19 - Tispitas

There's no competition. Slams are way ahead. It's just another ATP 1000 in terms of importance.

I don't want Nadal to win the WTF, so obviously I would not trade a slam title for WTF.
I want Dimitrov/Zverev/Tsitsipas to win it each year, because that ruins its credibility.
Whereas if Nadal wins the WTF then it suddenly has credibility and we have to hear people say "Djokovic won the WTF 5 times and Federer won it 5 times, while Nadal only won it once" (or whatever the number of times they've won it).
The fact Nadal hasn't won the WTF, hurts the WTF.
Logic 101. Idiots Federer and Djokovic failed to realize it, won the FO and gave it credibility. They could have ruined it by letting Gaudio, Söderling and Wawrinka win it every year.

Nadal should have let Berdych win and ruin Wimbledon, too.

The former german football player Franz Beckenbauer once called the UEFA Cup the "cup of losers" in the 90s, meaning that if you don't participate in the Champions League, then you are competing against other losers for a worthless cup. That's what the WTF title has become in recent years, the Slam losers have won that cup 4 years in a row and nobody really cares.

Kaiser Franz was right. However:

Forget trading WTF for a slam (a ridiculous question as several posters have pointed out).

I wouldn't even trade a WTF for Rafa winning a 2nd Olympic Singles Gold medal next year. WTF is nice to tick off a title he hasn't won, but it carries no weight compared to slams, and I think most players value OSG more.

I don't think Andy Murray is an ATG (still not enough slams), but his 2 Olympic Singles Gold medals probably help make him the greatest 3 time slam winner in the history of the game (and maybe even help give him a case over a 4 time slam winner like Jim Courier), and do a lot more to bolster his legacy than his WTF title. Outside of his slams and reaching #1 in the world, the most special achievement in Murray's career are his 2 Olympic Singles Gold medals and I'm pretty sure he'd say the same thing himself.
I'd say outside of slams was his Davis Cup performance. He almost single handedly won it for Great Britain.

No. I'm sure Murray is proud of helping his country win Davis Cup, but it does not trump the most important individual accolades of his career. His Olympic Golds matter more to him I'm certain.

Well I feel most genuine fans realize Nadal is missing a YE title.

So its a genuine question.

Cant stand these deluded people who claim that the WTF doesn't matter...
So what you're really asking is, would Nadal fans prefer to have him on 20 slams + 1 WTF vs Roger's 20 + a bazillion WTF titles.

I think the answer is pretty clear.

WTF doesn't matter.

No hes not. Have you watched anything from Paris ?

Nadal is hanging in with mugs. His form is terrible.

He has zero chance of winning either.
It was his time to do it either way, but he fell short once again. Atleast in the first leg. All you have to do is look through my post history to see how low I rate Nadal on this surface. Not all posts are as they appear.
