Didn't electrify at Wimbledon like real life Pete did in 1993. Volkov shut me down in the third round in 3 straight sets.

RPG mode again. Pete said enough is enough and took on ROD LAVER as his new coach!!!! Made some adjustments after the huge spell of crap. I came back to defend my Canada crown and met Medvedev in round 3. He beat me 6-0 earlier in the year. My current Pete has less points total now. I think the adjustments must just give me something in my mind. Whatever it is, it worked here. Didn't get the screenshot, but I won 7-6 4-6 7-6. I was a break ahead in both tiebreak sets. That will be something for Mr Laver to help me work on. :p

Quarter final looks less daunting, although Volkov had not beat me before the Wimbledon match so must stay focused when I resume tomorrow. Was expecting Agassi, but Bruguera worked him out.

    All smiles in the future?

Reports say Rod Laver has brought Pete back from the dead.

We shall find out soon if the new Laver partnership is for real. Did not repeat the pre US Open double. Won Toronto, beating Courier in the final. Lost the Cinci final to Mr Bruguera. Three tiebreaks. Cruel. He is now playing with the defensive master Spanish intensity. All this sent me down to number 13 lol.

Made it to the QF of US Open so at least I wont lose points here. Playing Michael Stich. Dangerous times.

    Great success.

Michael Stich is pretty much a mirror image. He was painting and made my lobs look pedestrian at times. I did remember some advice, try and hit to the backhand when using the lob. It did get me some points.

As usual, you can see how tough it is by the stats. How many times I had to serve compared to him. At least it was on the first 4 sets.

He just couldn't hold his nerve in the tiebreaks. I was doing fine. The serve down the t on the advantage side kind of feels like a cheat at this point, but I'll take it. Some of them do miss. Not like Stich was lacking aces. He couldn't push me to the 10-10 stage when you become a nervous wreck. He made some errors at crucial points.

At the start of the fourth set I finally got a break point and took it

Edberg is waiting in the semi final. He has beat me a couple of times now.

One more for the day. This really did feel like a reborn Pete. The second set, I was 1-5. I'm pretty sure I've pulled back from a double break down before, but to do it against Edberg here. There was no way I would lose that tiebreak. My finest set of all time. Great stuff. A break in the first game of set 4 was awesome and then the inevitable final set tiebreak. Match points had to be saved by both of us and then he hits one long. Yay.

My third US Open final. Defeats to Agassi and that stupid disconnection against Becker in previous finals. Bad news is it will be against the player I like the play against the most. Not. Chang. I bring a 1-4 record and I will be lucky to hit 5 forehand winners the entire match. Just have to make sure my serve is firing and I'm there.

Think this performance deserves a new t shirt and shoes for the final. :p

I am going to enjoy the tennis tomorrow then try and beat Chang. Funny enough, my one win against him was at the US Open. That was best of 3. So it can be done. Don't want to be a three time loser.

The partnership is for real. First US Open title Pete. He's back! Now the quest to become number one is on.

Great play here. Seems like a more finely tuned athlete now. Timing was perfect for a lot of it. Managed 10-15 forehand winners. Awesome. :p

Really felt like I had the power at the US Open. No split second doubt before the vital serve or anything. You all know if you do that the chances are your serve will miss or be an easy return.

Key difference was the serve into the top left of the advtantage court. It became a get out of jail free card for a while.

    Chang was incredible 3.

    3-5 incredible is my limit.

On to 1994 now. Ended the year well. Won Shanghai and Paris. Skipped WTF.

Lost to Agassi (down to 20th) in round 4 in Australia. Definitely the toughest challenge in this current career. I was not making many errors and he was just killing the ball. I was still surprised that I took it to 4. (won a tiebreak :p )Just like real life, Andre has the edge in Australia. Will have to play him at a level lower next match. Must remember that.

Up to number 3 in the rankings now only 1500ish behind Courier now. Into the final of Dubai and my first encounter with Rafter!

Say hello to the new number 1. Victory at Indian Wells put me there. Could even afford to miss Miami because I had no points to defend and Courier has lost the plot. Something like 6-5 this year. Sampras ready to dominate on clay?

Really enjoyable match in the Dubai final. Handing out break points for fun. Aces were hard to come by this time.

I only played some exhibition matches recently. A bit rusty, making more mistakes than I did during my peak. :p Got bored playing with same players so I made WTA versions of some of them. Don't know why. Unrealistic to see girls run so fast and hit so hard, but I don't care. It's just exhibition matches, in a video game.

After playing so much at the same level, I am going to test myself against Incredible 8 opponent today or later this week. Wish me luck.

Trying to reproduce the AO final. SexiGOAT against Incredible 8 Rafa on plexicushion, best of 5. Here we go...

Average serving from both, but brilliant shotmaking. First set Fed 7-5. Really weird seeing Nadal with more net approaches, but that's what counters do in this game I guess.

Second set: Goderer unleashed. 6-1 with three breaks. No doubt that winning the first set does wonders for me. All about settling down and when you have the lead as well by the time you do that it's perfect. Plus Rafa isn't a troublesome opponent for me. Got to pick someone else for a true test later, after I hopefully seal a win here.

    _____

I actually lost! :( All went downhill from the middle of the third set. He broke me in almost every game since then. In the 4th he served for 6-2, I got one break back but lost my serve to give him advantage in the fifth. I break him at the start of the fifth but he wins 5 straight games and serves for 6-1 in the decider. I break him, hold my serve, get to a break point but he held on to win the match. 105 winners were not enough, he was putting everything back and reading my serve like a book.

I'll get you next time Bull!

Quite a breakfest in the rematch as well, but it was inevitable. Rafa's serve isn't great but he is such an insane returner.

I wasn't going to let him get back into the match. Not after what he did to me yesterday.

First and dominant win over Incredible 8 opponent achieved.

    lol Chef Ramsay approved. Stunning.

I find the lack of aces disturbing. More proof that Pete > Roger.jk That is a great win. Attack, attack, attack, attack, attack. I hate that chant. :p Staying back against Rafa is a sentence to death. Staying back against anybody is a death sentence for me.

Faded out of Tennis Elbow existence for a week there. Places to go and people to see. Last match I played before that was a win over Volkov.

Came back to it today and faced Goran Goat in the semi of Roma. I've only played the first set. He is having one of those in the zone games and doesn't matter if he is missing many first serves. Once the ball is in play, I'm fooked. ahhhhhh. Trying to mix it up as best I can. Guessing for all the returns. Might have to retreat and play behind the line. Patience, use the force. BOOOOO I do have the habit of using set one to warm up, although he did beat me at Madrid in straight sets.

    Pete's kit is sexy.

How awesome would it be if you could have a Gordon Ramsay cameo during the commentary?

He just keeps repeating stunning after you hit a stunning shot. It would be music to my ears compared to the ''come on, Roger'' that I have to hear before every serve. That is the only real problem I have with the soundtrack.

Lost that match to Goran. He beat Courier in the final.

It's happening. Sampras vs Kafelnikov in round 2 of the French Open. Excite. This will be a rare time that I put a round 2 match to 5 sets. One of my toughest opponents in a previous career. The benefits of being number one gave me the easiest match possible in round 1. 6-0. All I really had to do was serve at Ramos and he would hit it out. Disgraceful play. I'm a much better player now. A more complex cigar. :p

When it comes to guessing, I figured the auto-positioning (it's set fast for me) does a lot of work for you. Servebots never bothered me again after I mastered this. Holding any shot button while the opponent is hitting his serve or any other shot will drag you in the direction his ball is going to. You don't even have to guess it yourself, while that little drag at the beginning will get you a little step closer to the ball before you're doing the actual running with the arrows, making it easier to reach it. If the ball is coming close or right at you, holding the shot button will place your player in a great position to hit and the shot (slice, topspin, acceleration, any) is more likely to be successful.

Don't try this when you are in those powerful, tough angle crosscourt exchanges with the opponent though, because this trick can backfire and wrong-foot you in those cases.
Not just Sampras. Pretty much every pro since 1990.

I do know about auto-positioning. Didn't realise it can be used during a rally as well. I'm sure I've done it without knowing. The quest to learn everything continues. Cheers. I'll hopefully get an easy first round at Queens to experiment.

The lack of drop shot will always be my real weakness. It's there, I can use it, but I just never feel comfortable. I played that match against Kafelnikov. Lost in 4 and was in many of his serving games. Not taking back what I said about being a better player. I wasn't blown off the court or anything. He ended up winning it all, beating Becker in the final. New star is born to give me a headache.

I got all post 1990 players when one of my colleagues sent me some download link for the game half a year ago but the link expired now.

Probably has to do with some patches. The rest of the guys in this thread can tell you more than me.

Yes, the auto is Petch approved. A convincing 6-1 victory. He had this to say.

Pete had me living on the edge of the line. Amazing performance.

It was a killer against Rafter. He got a lot of aces, but overall, it was the ticket. Many return winners and opportunities gained. Damn, I know it won't work against everybody, but it definitely worked against Rafter.

The math is a little off on long rally points. 101% lol. Why not just round me off to 62? I won't complain, but now that you have made a mistake, I have noticed. And don't think I haven't noticed you cheating against me with your AI BS. :p

Hey guys, anyone else who feels that Rafa's CC FH is way too overpowered in this game?

I mean I am painting the lines with my FH DTL playing with Djokovic and he just pushes me out of the playing screen with his CC FH.

And his drop shots are just God like. Always precise and from anywhere in the rally.

Yeah, his BH service return is also very unrealistic and blows my mind how he hits some of the winners from standing 20m behind the baseline.

Spin and Bounce have no effect on his BH returns.

But, JRAJ, nothing is as ridiculous as his CC FH where he creates angles out of his asss and generates height closer to Karlovic's serve.

Competing on the tour as an "old man" (final season of my first career), winning my final Slam at the 2018 AO earlier in the year - the last ATG performance, haven't won any tournaments after that - AO Title #12, Slam #20 is mine. Gonna start my new career on a higher level Inc. 7 (maybe Inc 8 for low-ranked players) afterwards.

AO SF was an epic comeback from 0-2 down against Stan (who never really morphed into Stanimal). Final was a more straightforward encounter with Zed The Younger.

Young Zachery Zverev already has the mug of the year award tied up on my own fantasy tennis elbow awards. Can you imagine the forum reaction to such a performance? The amazing display from OLD JAMES :p will be ignored. Tut tut tut.

On my end, Rafa Chang has come back from the dead. Beat me in Wimbledon semi in straights. Can you just try and imagine that in real life? Bloody hell, mate. He then went on to lose to Edberg. That is twice they've met in the Wimbledon final, both wins for Edberg. hmm, Edberg can beat him and I struggle. Da hell is going on here? Anyway, he went on to end my Canada streak in the qf. Was going for 3 in row. Now I have Becker in Cinci semi. I lost to Bruguera in the final last year. The other semi is Chang vs Bruguera. Monnnnnnnn.

I do love a Nadal drop shot. I'm actually relieved when he does one. Think I've mentioend that before. If only he attempted it every single rally. I'd have a few more wins under my belt.

I misspoke. Becker was quarter final and I had already defeated him. What waited in the semi was something worse: Alberto Berasategui. Ended up being an enjoyable match against the man that parks his bus. Not quite on the upper tier of defenders, but still a pain in the neck.

This Pete is made of steel and I still thought I could get back in there even though I was a set and a break down. And I was right. Slice to the backhand and net rushing on return got me back. I just don't fancy net rushing when returning. I turn into a baseliner on return most of the time. The slice gave me the split second I needed and when I got the break back in set 2, I knew the match was going to be mine. Even if I went 4-1 down in the tiebreak. 2-6 7-6 7-5. Poor fella only had 2 double faults. Both in the last game. Just shows you that Laverised Pete is the man. One of my all time worst matches at the net. Had to figure that form of the day stuff was working because I missed too many sitters.

A good warm up for Chang. Was there ever any doubt that he would be lurking once more?

Some Karate Kid style training for the final. :p Mike ''Chang'' Barnes is gonna get it. Kata is much more than breaking a sweat, dude.

I did some more reading about playing against defensive players. Patience, patience, patience. Yes, something about patience. And mixing it up. It is always a struggle to maintain the patience. I'm a lousy student.

The match will be continued tomorrow. Left off at 5-7 3-0 because it is well past my bedtime and I gotta be up for an appointment. Yep, a break right at the start of the second set gave me the joys of Spring, and check out this wee image. Do you think my excellent patience is getting to Mike ''Barnes'' Chang? hmmmmm, I'll let me be the judge of that. Hell yeah.

Just one last thing to point out. 10 forehand winners at this stage are very good for me.

Meh, I just had to continue. I'll be fine, staying up late and getting up early is what I do. If only I had brought this at Wimbledon. First 3 games of his serve, I didn't win a point, but I didn't allow myself to scream SAME OLD ****. I kept calm and kept at it, slowly, but surely, he started giving me the chances to get at the net on his serve, even moving him out of the court after 10 normal shots and then an acceleration. Boom. A very satisfying win against the current nemesis.

3 consecutive finals and 2 victories at the real slam. No tiebreak needed.

I wish I got Jimmy Connors in the first round of US Open. Wildcard. His 41 year old stats make Petch look like a world beater. Can I finally defend a GS crown?

What is your secret lol. When I play on more than Incredible 3/4, even if I hit all the lines at full power(with Fed, who has a perfect 100 forehand nevertheless), the AI still gives it back with interest. :p

Or is it that somehow Fed has much higher stats than Nadal in your career?

It was a match in the training club, I am not playing career. Federer is better than Nadal but only slightly. Service and volley stats are in his favor. Forehand and backhand are almost identical, but with clearly lower top spin Federer is more likely to hit winners. Speed, stamina and counter are in Rafa's favor. All of Fedal's stats are in 82-98 range or something like that, nothing lower and nothing higher. Only Nadal's forehand consistency might be 100 but that's it.

There are times I forget to switch to elite controls since simulation is the default one, but as long as playing Nadal is concerned, this is my secret. More of a signature move actually.

Repetitive insane forehand crosscourt angles and the guy is toast. :D

Doctor Devil, I have to disagree with you on this one.

My Nadal at Pro 10 chases every shot no matter how insane the angle is.

Simply bringing him to the net is the only salvation point for me.

Reading your earliest post in this thread,Why don't you install this one ? It has full ATP patch already pre installed which you can play for a week.

He chases majority of the shots here as well but once he only slices back I can either approach the net or stretch him with another insane forehand or a backhand crosscourt. At least the control of the point is mine. The way I said it earlier sounds like it's simple but usually I have to hit at least 3 "winners" just to win one point.

Looks awesome but if it's time limited then I am not sure it's worth it.

    Yeah, the patience once again.

Don't be prepared to win the rally 25 times, be prepared to win it 30 times, before you lose it once.

Question for anybody: Does your opponent ever hit the ball into the net during a rally on Incredible? The only time my opponents do it is when my serve is too good. Apart from that, they never hit the ball into the net.
