Wow this place is unbelievably calm. Federer fans take NOTE.

I slept in late today, woke up and saw Federer lost and couldn't believe it. I wanted to see him go deep, and would have been fine with him winning. Really not happy about this upset at all, and hope he comes back strong. For those Federer fans that followed the match live, I can't imagine how much agony it was to see him lose 3 sets after being up 2! Had to be horrifying. He will bounce back though hopefully. But please take note of how calm this place is. I haven't seen a single thread from a "*******" dissing Federer, his loss, or talking crap. If Rafa somehow loses this match to Fish, this board will OVERFLOW with haters and venomous threads from vile trolls on here. We would really, really like the same respect from here on out. You guys can be insane. Proud of you Nadal fans, obviously I haven't read every post within match threads and someone of course will have said something stupid. But overall, this place really looks good, and im proud of u guys for being the better men today.

Fed is not a real threat anymore which is the main reason people don't care to bash him that much anymore.

Were you proud at your fellow Nadal fans in 2008 and 2009 following some of Fed's losses in those years?

I've seen the class of Nadal fans when Novak was beating him this year, some insults people hurled at him were pathetic.

There are girls here too, you know. :-|

Of course, some of us are sad because, as well as Jo played, we'd hoped to see Rafa face Roger once again.

Some Federer fans are pathetic. The majority are fine. With regards to Nadal fans. Most of us respect Fed I guess. Little to dislike about the man tbh.

Ech, Rafa will go through the same thing Roger's going through, they're both classy guys, maybe the internet forums are starting to get some etiquette and the more incendiary posters on both sides are starting to grow up a bit.

You're congratulating people for not being inflammatory while dissing Federer fans for a phantom scenario? Well, whatev.

OP- you know what? I like your posts but don't try that with us. If you've been here long enough you'll know Nadal fans like to stick it right up after Fed's losses more often than not.
It's VERY easy to be all sympathetic and nice about a guy who's a shadow of his former self ( and even then you can see fans like Veronique crawling out of their holes to rub salt). I'd like to see this dignity from you if he were to ever win something big again. Because otherwise, you're just talking smack.

Note-When I say 'you' ,I don't mean you per se. I'm talking about your fellow fans.

Agree, the way they threated Novak(ie an actual threat)is far more telling than their current attitude towards the guy who barely reaches slam finals these days.

I can prove that statement wrong if you'd like. It's actually quite easy considering alot of Nadal fans provide so much ammunition to use against them.

How many Rafa supporters do post in Fed's threads compared to Fed worshipers that pollute every single thread where Rafa's name is mentioned?

Exactly. I mean, seriously? These are fans who didn't think twice before ripping Roger apart after the AO '09 final. These are fans who didn't think twice before vilifying him after his French Open victory. These are the same guys who blew that stupid jacket thing WELL out of proportion after Wimbledon and so forth. And they're trying to set example? Trying to prove they're great by not taking beef out on a guy only because he is not what he was? Wow..

Are you for real? There will be tons of threads don't worry. LOL at you trying to infer that Rafa fans are more reasonable than Fed fans when there is a loss. That is NOT the case. Both extreme *******s and extreme *******s are NUTS. Plain and simple.

Phantom? It's ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. And I said trolls, not Federer fans.

Those of us who follow your posts will know better, but the thread title does say "Federer Fans take note," so I can see why some people might get the wrong idea.

Thank you for your kind words in the opening post though, it's nice to see genuine tennis fans being considerate to one another :) I wish there were more people on here with a sense of empathy.

I'm absolutely gutted :( Jo looked thrilled though, and if he makes the final I'm a lot more optimistic about him making it competitive than I was for Berdych last year. It's just such a shame that Roger lost like this, especially after all the progress he and Annacone have made in the past 12 months. I'm not sure how Roger will recover from this.

LOL what? I think the OP is nice but if he's going to tell me Nadal fans are being the epitome of class by taking pity on a guy they once didn't think twice about before ripping apart, sorry. I won't buy it. If you do, that is your choice.

Also on average Nadal fans are perhaps younger and less bitter.

Younger and more naive for sure. Usually when you are a little older than a teenager or early 20's which most Nadal fans are, you have more experience with all things in the world and you are wiser. That is just the way it is.

I agree. Ridiculous. MichaelNadal is one of the nicer and more rational *******s but for him to say Nad fans are more calm when Fed loses? LOL!

You have to have a thick skin to be tenns fans because anything can happen at any time. Nadal could go out now for instance

There is nothing thick-skinned about arguing on the internet, it doesn't require a thick skin, it requires taking offence at every imaginary dig, and it also doesn't require a backbone, as it's under a blanket of anonymity.

No, that has always been the situation. Fed worshipers are more interessed in seeing Rafa losing than Fed winning since they know what 'd happed if they both meet in the final (or in any other stage of any tournament).

(You're not one of them i should add).

when it comes to human rationality, i wouldn't use age as an indicator. This forum is great testament to that.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that point, it was quite different back in 2008 and 2009 IMO.

True. Some Fed fans are extreme as well. Both sides can be extreme but I guess everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion at the end of the day right?

Nope. Because visual evidence in the form of (blogs) suggest many rafa fans are around 50's up. And also some people i've seen in tournaments. What's your proof?

It's a very sad day for us Rafa supporters. We 'd rather have Fed in the finals(guaranteed win for Nadal) than Tsonga:oops:

Speak for yourself.

I'm a FEDAL fan, and I'm pleased for Jo because he played out of his mind -- but I really wanted to see Roger against Rafa in the final, because they bring the best out of each other, and so FEDAL matches are the best tennis.

Yes, age is not an indicator of rationality but my point is that when one is no longer a teenager or early 20's you have more life experience and are usually wiser. If not, what is the point of having hindsight.

oi that's not my feeling. I didn't want fed in the final because it's a guaranteed win, I wanted him there because Fedal finals have always been and continue to be exciting.

I would like Djoker in the final, because Rafa has to beat him sooner or later.

I have been going to the tennis tournament in my city since I was around 6 years old. That is my observation. It is a generalization. I am not going to go out and take my own survey any time soon if that is what you mean. I'll leave that to you. :)
