I have been going to the tennis tournament in my city since I was around 6 years old. That is my observation. It is a generalization. I am not going to go out and take my own survey any time soon if that is what you mean. I'll leave that to you. :)

Your generalizing on various subjects is annoying.

Which ones have you been to recently? I don't think rafa was around when you were 6...at least, i don't think so. how old are you?

No, that has always been the situation. Fed worshipers are more interessed in seeing Rafa losing than Fed winning since they know what 'd happed if they both meet in the final (or in any other stage of any tournament).

(You're not one of them i should add).

You must be delusional or something; were you here after the AO 2009 final? I think Federer took so much flak that some people were attacking his credibility as a person (*cough* TennisAndMusic *cough*) because he CRIED. LOL.

My point is that I have seen many tennis tournaments and many players since I was about 6 when my parents took me to tournaments or maybe I was 8? I have seen all of the players pretty much. I have seen Rafa many times in the past 6 years or so thus that is my observation about Nadal's fans. Also I belong to a tennis club and speak to a lot of the kids there who are mostly fans of Rafa. I am not doing a scientific study on the subject. It is just my opinion.

I slept in late today, woke up and saw Federer lost and couldn't believe it. I wanted to see him go deep, and would have been fine with him winning. Really not happy about this upset at all, and hope he comes back strong. For those Federer fans that followed the match live, I can't imagine how much agony it was to see him lose 3 sets after being up 2! Had to be horrifying. He will bounce back though hopefully. But please take note of how calm this place is. I haven't seen a single thread from a "*******" dissing Federer, his loss, or talking crap. If Rafa somehow loses this match to Fish, this board will OVERFLOW with haters and venomous threads from vile trolls on here. We would really, really like the same respect from here on out. You guys can be insane. Proud of you Nadal fans, obviously I haven't read every post within match threads and someone of course will have said something stupid. But overall, this place really looks good, and im proud of u guys for being the better men today.

Rafa fan as well and I was bitterly disappointed with this loss. Such a shame. Good for Tsonga though. I love to see him in the final

Speak for yourself.

I'm a FEDAL fan, and I'm pleased for Jo because he played out of his mind -- but I really wanted to see Roger against Rafa in the final, because they bring the best out of each other, and so FEDAL matches are the best tennis.

So you don't count since you 're serving 2 "masters" at the same time hi hi hi :)(please note: I'm a huge Rafa supporter but i never bashed Fed).

Open a thread and ask Rafa fans who they'd have preferred in the final: Fed or Tsonga.

Huge Nadal fan, but Federer is very much still a danger, an all-time great who can rise up and beat anyone, as we saw at Roland Garros.

Those of us who follow your posts will know better, but the thread title does say "Federer Fans take note," so I can see why some people might get the wrong idea.

Thank you for your kind words in the opening post though, it's nice to see genuine tennis fans being considerate to one another :) I wish there were more people on here with a sense of empathy.

I'm absolutely gutted :( Jo looked thrilled though, and if he makes the final I'm a lot more optimistic about him making it competitive than I was for Berdych last year. It's just such a shame that Roger lost like this, especially after all the progress he and Annacone have made in the past 12 months. I'm not sure how Roger will recover from this.

Thanks man, it's nice to see you know what I meant by my post and appreciate it as well. You're a good guy.

I agree. Ridiculous. MichaelNadal is one of the nicer and more rational *******s but for him to say Nad fans are more calm when Fed loses? LOL!

Are u SERIOUS man? These boards overflow with Rafa hate, loss, mto, or not. It's all you see sometimes on here, it's sickening how much people hate him or namecall, etc. RARELY does a Nadal "****" post a thread dissing Federer. He lost today and that was hours ago now, and there's still no dissing. It's as plain as day. We should all be way more civil on here, but the outrageous Nadal hate needs to stop. Had he lost today there's be 50 troll threads right now and you KNOW it.

Fed is not a real threat anymore which is the main reason people don't care to bash him that much anymore.

Were you proud at your fellow Nadal fans in 2008 and 2009 following some of Fed's losses in those years?

I've seen the class of Nadal fans when Novak was beating him this year, some insults people hurled at him were pathetic.
and novak's fans are rabid dogs

marc45

G.O.A.T.
Agree, the way they threated Novak(ie an actual threat)is far more telling than their current attitude towards the guy who barely reaches slam finals these days.

novak's fans are pigs, he and his family have brought much of it on themselves...they're are every bit as rabid as rafa and fed's fans....don't give me the poor novak routine, pathetic...the king

So true. I think that's the main reason that Nadal fans don't do that, because it looks so ugly, juvenile, and childish.

I can't imagine coming on the board to gloat because Federer lost a match. That's just crazy. He has some decent fans on here, even more reason not to try to rub it in their faces, out of respect.

Evidently many posters don't see it that way, because like you said, if Rafa loses, this board becomes almost unbearable.

Is it totally unconventional and wrong to like both Federer and Nadal?

I mean, come on, those 2 have made men's tennis what it is for the past 10 or so years.

Really? So why were Nadal fans resorting to unrestricted character assassination after the AO '09 final?
Do you only see what you want to see? Did you see the magnitude of hating on Fed that ensued in 2009? No,you didn't . So don't talk of class. Don't think you're great because you managed some semblance of pity on Roger at this stage of his career.

It's absolutely nothing compared to what goes on here with Nadal. It's not even the same stratosphere. You were here yesterday I imagine? I don't really remember what happened here after AO 09 in terms of specifics, but Federer was pretty lambasted in the press as well I believe for being a spotlight hogging drama queen during Nadal's moment. It wasn't that he cried. It was that he was incredibly rude. Anyway, kind of besides the point. Nothing that has ever been said about Federer approaches the outright hate and vitriol that Nadal receives here. MN is right on the money.

That was yesterday? If you were here and had an ounce of honesty you'd know that Federer was bashed not for one day,two days but for MONTHS together. And yes, Federer was bashed in the press like they always love doing much like Nadal got called out by the PMac et al.
As for vitriol-Let's not go there. If you're dishing it, learn to take it.

I will never understand people who hate this or that tennis player.I mean what have they ever done to these people other than play tennis, sometimes well, sometimes not so well? We all have our personal favourites and some we are not so keen on,but to HATE any of them as if you know them personally and they have done you some sort of personal harm is just weird and grotesque! It speaks volumes about the hater and scarcely anything at all about the tennis player they waste so much time hating!!

As for Roger,I was quite shocked he went out today after being 2 sets up.He didn't seem to be playing badly at all.Tsonga just seemed to step it up when it counted and didn't give up even after being two sets down. The mark of a true fighter.Congrats to him for a deserved victory but I just hope Roger doesn't feel this is some sort of turning point for him.I feel there's plenty more to come from him yet (if not perhaps as much as were used to seeing in the past).

Haha totally true but from dealing with a lot of football fans it starts like this.

1.) You admire a team or player due to the way they play the game. They entertain you therefore you support them. You dislike another player/team due to the way they play the game. You find their style boring therefore you do not support them. You do not hate them, you just avoid watching them play.

2.) The team you support starts to get defeated by the opponent with the style of play you find boring. This bothers you a little as the guy you have supported is losing and the quality of play is being brought down. You find this disapointing but this is sports and everyone loses, not the end of the world.

3.) Supporters of the team that beat your team finds it amusing to rub it in your face that your team has lost adn they are inferior. This angers you and instead of ignoring them you direct your anger to the opposing team when in reality it is the team's supporters that are jerks.

This is generally how it starts.

It's not in the same stratosphere because Federer did not take a MTO to disrupt Tsonga's rhythm in the third, fourth & fifth set & didn't blame his loss on injury.

The second reason is that Federer hasn't been dominant for a long time now, and when he loses before the final it's not as much of a shock as it used to be. His loses before the final & in the final during his peak years were ALWAYS followed by a hoard of *******s & Samprastards taking cheap shots at Federer in pages and pages of threads! Don't pretend like it never happened with Fed.

The third reason is the Nards must be shaking in their boots now that Nadal's whipping boy is out of the equation & there is a chance The King will put him in his place once again in yet another final.

Well I think we have to agree to disagree on this one. Over the top Rafa fans are just as bad as over the top Fed fans. The Rafa fans "claim" to respect Federer but that does not stop them from dissing him every chance they get. A lot of them are hypocrites in this area. They are the type that tell you to your face that you are wonderful but then behind your back the knife comes out. Phony baloney. Of course I am not referring to you or other sane *******s. There are about 5 that are bat$h-t crazy. Then there are the ones that are more subtle and finally there are a few who like both Nadal and Federer.
