Wrawinkas 3-shot tactic worked all day against Nadal!

Just re-wathched the match again with Martina Navratilova commenting. I love her insight.

In essence how Stan set up the points and took over every time against Nadal. Never noticed it the first time I saw the match but here it is:

1. During a rally, Stan waited to get a forehand on his duece court..
2. Stan blasts a forehand down the line from his duece court to Nadals forehand, forcing Nadal to hit cross court 99 ercent of the time...
3. Anticipating Nadals crosscourt forehand, Stan, rather than hit a backhand as most folks do, runs around his backhand hits an inside-out forehand back into the corner of Nadals forehand...
4. Thus leaving Nadal no choice to but again, hit cross court again to Stans backhandside, only again, Stan runs around the backhand and pounds a forehand down the line to Nadals backahand!

So in essence, Stan's strategy was this:
1. Forehand down the line
2. Run around back hand hit forehand inside out cross court, then lastly
3. Run around back hand hit forhand down the line..

Nadal had no answer to this... Watch the match again if you can, youll see Stans brilliant pattern as he worked over Nadal all match...

Well yea... A "3 shot tactic" will work on a guy thats struggling to move with a bad back. Stan would obviously have to bring more than 3 shots if he wanted to beat a healthy Nadal. ROFLMAO

for sure Stan was clearly the superior player in that match but it isn't true that Nadal had no answer because he did win the 3rd set, ie Stan's 3-shot tactic didn't work in that set :)

He did this the entire first set and a half! When Nadal was still 100 percent healthy! Then i noticed when Nadal went 0-2 in the 2nd set, Nadal calls for the MTO! LOLOL!!!

90's, will you finally drop this 'bad back' red herring? Wawrinka was pulverizing Nadal before the injury timeout; it is only after it that Wawrinka actually slowed down a bit.

And he did bring more than 3 shots actually... 5 service winners in a row (3 of them off second serves), for example :)

What makes you say that? Nadal only needs one to beat a healthy Federer

Because Wawrinka was totally not S&Ving, forcing Nadal into hitting backhands, and generally crushing Nadal in general

I half noticed this strategy at the time, but I thought this can't be good because he is never going to get into position to hit a good ball, but in fact he did.

I'm pretty sure Fed has tried this strategy earlier on in his career, but Stan was hitting through the court more so it worked better for him.
