I just tried this wrist device called the WristAssist that my husband bought for me (a friend at work told him about it, so he bought it for me online). I've been taking lessons for quite a while, and I always have trouble following what my pro is telling me--he'll tell me to hold my wrist back during the shot, but in practice, I find it hard to do.

Anyway, this device holds your wrist in place so you can't move it. I can actually feel what the correct position is like in a real hitting situation. It has really helped me hit better shots. I'm going to continue practicing with it so I can ingrain that correct feeling.

I know my husband bought it from their website, so you can probably Google WristAssist.

diamondgal, welcome! Constantly, I see ads for things like that on Tennis Magazine. Some look like gimicks, while others seem interesting. I'm glad that this one is working for you.

Call me a cynic, but whenever I see a new user (jeez, your very first post!) telling me about some great new racquet/string/product I've never heard of before, I just assume the person is advertising. Come on, hang out awhile, post a few messages, build up a little track record to let us know you're a real person before you try to sell us something.

Yeah - I had the same thought. As for:

Anyway, this device holds your wrist in place so you can't move it.

From a physiological perspective, it sounds terrible. Removing natural supports and replacing them with an artificial support should only be done at the direction of a physio or similar....

Tried it myself and I am having the same results as Diamongirl, (very pleased so far), just a matter of getting it set in my muscle memory and transfering it into real matches.

I'm not a salesmen either.

ps OrangeOne its not what you think it is, the site that sells it is squarehit tennis, check it out.

John.

No, I don't believe I'm being too critical at all. It may or may not be a great product; I have no idea. The fact that Brad Gilbert has his name attached to it is inconsequential -- he's just taking money for an endorsement. What does raise my suspicion is the fact that a person who has NEVER posted on this forum before chooses to make their very first post a testimonial for some product most of us have never heard of. This doesn't sound at all like a friendly recommendation from a person I've come to trust, but a blatant ad, most likely from a person who has some stake in that product. It has the same sort of feeling I get when I receive an email from a stranger telling me about some worthless stock that's about to take off. It's just spam.

Thats exactly the response I thought this product would receive on here so I never posted about it. I asked the question on here somewhere before I purchased it, to see if anybody had any experience with it but nobody did. So I took the gamble and I am happy I did.

OK, there's an endorsement that's more plausible. But I'm not buying "diamondgal" at all until I see that she's more than just a front for that vendor. I may be totally wrong, but if you're not a little suspicious of tactics like this, then you're just not paying attention. The Internet DEMANDS that you always be aware of scammers.

Agree w/ your thoughts. I have changed to 1h-BH recently and was having trouble w/ 1h-Volleys. Was also concerned b/c of having T.E., but now the stroke has improved greatly. I already kept wrist firm during fh volleys and had well developed stroke so didn't gain anything from it on that wing.

I also am starting to use it on FHs, and prior to it I thought I didn't snap/release the wrist, but now realize afterwards. I'm looking at the Hitech tennis site about using the shoulder to extend through the shot and the device helps in keeping me honest.

Currently, I use it to warm up w/ mini-tennis. My friends thought I was weird for using it, but my elbow doesn't hurt and I'm much more confident. I also will use it to drill FHs. Overall spend about 5-15 minutes with it per week.

I think it's overpriced for $60, but it is a useful device to give you feedback kind of like a pro yelling at you "Keep your wrist firm":) If you have a one or two buddies, then it's definitely something you can share as a group. I also secretly hope my kids will go into tennis and justified it as an expense that will one day be used to hone their volleys/strokes.

Disclosure: I do not work for SquareHit tennis or have any conflicting interests that prevent me from providing honest review.

Their are comercials for it all over The Tennis Channel. It's endorsed by Brad Gilbert. I can imagine that it could help for volleys, because it's important to keep a firm and upright wrist.
