I bet most of the people who came to see the match never heard of Garcia or Kvitova. Stands would be full if Serena would make it to the final.

Most have probably heard of Kvitova. Garcia, not so much. When I went to semi in Cincy for semi's many a years back, stadium really emptied out after Serena played. Azerenka and Jankovic in the other semi.

Kvitova just doesn't have it in these big matches these days. Not trying to take credit away from Garcia, who is serving clutch. But the number of laughable UE's from Kvitova toda is embarrassing.

She's old and worn out. I was shocked she even made it to the final. That speaks for her immense talent, she still made the final despite moving like a 60 y.o. now

And she came back from that crazy knifing attack, so I totally agree. I've had her going deep in my Wimbledon brackets for a couple of years but after watching today, I think my faith has run out lol

2d place trophies are too big. What are you going to do with a 2d place trophy anyway? ATP/WTA sponsors need to be realistic:

So they're only interested in selling drinks and food?
Possibly who knows. My brother was there early in the week said it was packed. The problem I think with these tournaments is the finals are priced way to high. My brother has money but he likes to go early, watch tons of matches, not watch 2 matches for hundreds of dollars that doesnt appeal to him.

If Cargo can keep this up, I’d say she has a decent shot to quarters at USO

If she plays and serves like she has the majority of this tournament...she's winning the whole thing. Big "if" but still...who is gonna beat her? Who has looked like she's in mad form? Absolutely nobody imo

I thought after she won Wuhan/China back to back in 2017 she was nailed on to win a major (or more) and maybe become a world number 1. Hard to understand where it all went wrong after that. Too much doubles maybe - Gauff take note.

Garcia though is still a huge underachiever for me. Maybe she's finally maturing and this time she'll sustain the success for whatever she's got left (5 years?).

And there's the risk of the one final match being a dud. I had a free day in Munich when the BMW Open final was scheduled but decided the ticket wasn't worth it for just one match. Turns out the match ended in retirement after just 7 games.

Yea very good point. I went to the Indian wells finals years ago. Murray vs Nadal believe it or not. The conditions were horrible super windy for both the women and mens matches. Both were two quick sets. Super windy. Said I'm never going to a finals again we paid a lot. Better to go on a Tuesday and just watch tennis all over the place.
