Crazy this is Gauff's first final since Auckland back in January and that she's managed to hold her top 10 spot all year.

Did make the SF at both the Aus Open and French along with Indian Wells and Rome.

Just a terrible day for Muchova and a better day for Gauff and Coco wins 6-1 6-3.

Gauff gets her 2nd 1000 title and her 2nd title of the year.

Coco's FH didn't breakdown today. Muchova tried attacking that side in a few points to no avail. Not Muchova's best game today, clearly looking frustrated with her misses/UE.

Maybe quite ironical that Coco won this WTA 1000 right after splitting with Gilbert. Maybe instead of seeing like that, it's the honeymoon effect of new coach.

Good for Coco. Seems like an important win after the disappointing summer. Is it just me or does it already looked like her forehand has a slightly less complicated take back? I only watched the 5 minute Beijing final highlight video, so that might not be a big enough sample size.

Really surprised to see Gauff take the title here after watching some of her earlier matches, but gutsy stuff

The key to win Beijing, find a right pal to visit Forbidden City!

It's great to see the players taking time to enjoy traveling. Many of have said it's hard with the schedule, but some experiences can't be beat.

And to have two young champs in one snapshot is golden for the Tours.

People implying that Gilbert was talking to her too much are funny. In a way I agree, that he was wasting his energy, but mostly because she wasn't actually capable of doing what he was asking her to do.

Brad has coached some amazing talents, and I think he expected Gauff to do things she simply cannot do.

Is it a positive that Gauff is getting through these matches using tenacity alone? Or is this outweighed by the fact that her game is in such disarray?
That's always been her biggest weapon. The best part of her game by far is defending, and that is the easiest thing to maintain under pressure. Chasing balls down is chasing balls down, no matter how tight you get. And with today's WTA tour, you see how far it has gotten her.

Criminal that Muchova is not top 20. Just one of the best on tour every single time. Especially against the top 10.
Well, she has barely played. Her best level is easily top 5 in the world, if not better. It's just a question of her being healthy enough to play on a regular basis.

If expert double players can't beat non-caring singles, it's maybe time to quit.
Tennis at that level is pretty much a meritocracy, and so indeed winning is the best way of making a point.

These no-name doubles players also need to understand that they have essentially zero appeal at the moment. Doubles tennis does not generate much interest in general, and if nobody knows the players involved, nobody cares.

I didn't say it tells me a lot about you. Just enough in this context.
Again, what is it telling you "in this context"? I'm dying to know. Just say it, unless you aren't capable of articulating your thoughts for some reason...
