coco didn't really quit she is just getting a beatdown from AA and can't do anything about it. She can't double fault against players like AA and get away with it.
AA is looking hot and so is her game.

How on earth has Gauff ever won majors. She’s not a terrible tennis player, but someone with an awful serve and the flakiest of forehands shouldn’t even be top 20. I guess it’s an indicator of how weak the WTA currently is.

Coco can work her way through a lot of matches and end up winning, but there still seems to be foundational problems; plus a lack of confidence that exists on a sliding scale. Her 2026 should be fairly fascinating. So many players would benefit from calling it a season after the USO or shortly thereafter. But I understand they don't - money, sponsors and managers wanting them to play, loss of ranking points, etc.

They weren't always that awful or flaky. She's traditionally been a good competitor and defensive player who can win ugly and frustrate players in addition to some offensive competence. But, it seems to unraveling. The biggest thing is now the serve and forehand are in her head.

It's a great first serve but a terrible second. Most players would love to have Gauff's serve and then feel like they could work on the second.
Yeah the forehand is poor. If she had a Top Trumps card, she would have a hugely wide ranging set of scores from the great to the awful. She's won majors though and she might win more. She has a winning formula, as oddball as it is.

She makes less unforced errors and gets a lot of ball back forcing the opponent to hit 1 more and probably miss

Big Ups to Amanda "AA" Anisimova !! This is another major victory over a very capable, hard hitting, dangerous opponent with a very similar playing style! "AA" playing her best tennis once again when it matter the most!!!

Wasn't able to watch live over the weekend, and pretty shocked to see how badly Anisimova beat Gauff.
I thought Anisimova would be a pretty clear favorite, but that was a demolishing. She could have won both sets to love.
Guaff's defense is probably the best in the WTA, and that is enough to win a lot of tight matches where better players just throw things away (Sabalenka a both times).
But I totally agree that the current state of the tour is pretty poor. The vast majority of players just show up and hit their hardest, with whomever is having a better day coming out on top.
So many of these players lack the variety and tennis smarts to find ways to break down Gauff's defense.
