Coco killing Siegemund as she should.
I see she’s still serving a ridiculous amount of double faults. 6 in a very easy match.

She’ll be facing a top 10 player next. Hasn’t beaten once since that hideous French Open final.

Let’s see how she handles either Paolini or Swiatek..

6-1 6-2...in a little over an hour

did you watch?...I didn't see it, what the hell happened?
yeah paolini was on fire her fh was dominating and iga was making a lot of errors while trying to hit through paolini kinda surprised iga didn't change tactics much after first set but credit to paolini

I thought Iga was fully "back" after Wimbledon, but looks like she's going to be more up and down from now on. I know there was always a chance for other players to beat her outside of clay, but the way she can get beatdown now is surprising.

It's been yet another easy draw for her, and once again she should (in theory) only have to win two hard matches in order to grab a title.

But somehow I doubt it will happen...

I don't think she will ever be the same. She will have some very good tournaments, but her air of invincibility/superiority is gone forever, and that was just about the only thing keeping her mental game from being a total mess (as it often is now).

Pegula has won 4 straight three setters. When's the last time that's happened in the WTA? Has anyone ever won 5 straight to win a 1000?

@Gizo

The title runs I'm aware of with 5 wins in 3 setters (non-consecutive):

2015 RG - Serena
2025 Australian Open - Keys

The title runs I'm aware of with 4 straight wins in 3 setters:

1994 Wimbledon - Martinez (her last 4 matches)
1997 Luxembourg - Coetzer (all 4 of her matches at the tournament)
1997 Philadelphia - Hingis (all 4 of her matches at the tournament)
1999 US Open - Serena (her R3 to SF matches)
2008 YEC - Venus (her last 4 matches)
2014 RG - Sharapova (her last 4 matches)
2017 RG - Ostapenko (her last 4 matches)
2018 YEC - Svitolina (her last 4 matches)
2021 Olympics - Bencic (her last 4 matches)
2025 Australian Open - Keys (her last 4 matches)

Other titles run I'm aware of with 4 wins in 3 setters (non-consecutive):

1994 Philadelphia - Huber (including her last 2 matches)
2002 Berlin - Henin (including her last 2 matches)
2005 Estoril - Safarova
2019 Australian Open - Osaka (including her last 2 matches)
2020 US Open - Osaka (including her last 2 matches)
2023 US Open - Gauff (including in 3 of her first 4 matches)

How is Gauff actually playing?; I haven't been able to watch. That's a nice win over Paolini after getting beat in Cincy. She hasn't lost a set this tournament.

Gauff in straights...every time you kind of give up on her, at least being a #1 with many more slams coming her way, she wins another big title...just has to make that serve level better and keep that FH in check and no reason to think she can't do it

whoever was calling the final on Tennis Channel, the male lead (Peter someone) said at one point Pegula must be frustrated having to deal with a junk ball...tried to smooth it over after

Yea hopefully with that new coach and an off-season she can get that serve and forehand ironed out....though I feel like we say that every off-season.

2023 - Cincinnati + US Open
2024 - Beijing + YEC
2025 - RG + Wuhan

3 consecutive years of winning 2 titles at WTA 1000 level or above is nice going, especially for someone that's still only 21 years old.

I was in Centre Court to watch her 2019 Wimbledon R3 win vs. Hercog, when she was 15 years old. That feels like a different lifetime now (anything pre-COVID does to me).

7 double faults in an easy straight sets match. When is someone going to work on Gauff’s serving game???

This is beyond a joke.
A further 8 double faults today. Embarrassing state of the tour that players can’t beat a player who’s hitting such high numbers of double faults. She leads the WTA in double faults and has 118 more than the #2 and that’s before the stats are added from Wuhan.

She averages a staggering 6.75 double faults per match. Diabolical stats for the tour.
