WTA 2026 Doha 1000

I'm not sure if this is a hot take, but Mboko is better than Andreeva imho.
Not sure about that yet. Despite some stereotypes people love to make, she actually doesn't look that athletic. Her age is helping her in that sense...

And she's a big hitter. The tour is full of them, so let's see how it pans out for her. But Andreeva is more of a well rounded player and talent, she just needs to get it all together (especially between the ears).

I would also say that we need to see what happens once players/coaches figure out Mboko's weaknesses, but most of her opponents simply can not, or will not, adopt some different strategy to what they are used to, so it might not even matter.

Anyway, in the long run I think Andreeva goes further.

Crazy stat.

Mboko- outstanding. That lob in the game to break back...
The countdown for a Canadian slam winner has begun.

No reason she can't win this tournament now. The draw is wide open.
What game did this lob occur in? looking for a replay. its not in the highlights in the WTA YouTube channel

Doubles semis understood the assignment.

Errani/Paolini (1) v. Hsieh/Ostapenko (3)
Danilina/Krunic (4) v. Dabrowski/Stefani (5)

There was no 2-seed thanks to Mertens' back injury.

Not a gimme for either, but I'd say Muchova has more of a long-term fear issue, with just 1 title. But she has beaten the best
Let's see if Gronenveld (since 2026) does it for her

I feel that there is no losing for the WTA no matter who wins tomorrow. If Vicky wins...they've got a great new star on their hands. If Karolina wins, it will be a chance for a good player to proves that she belongs.

I'll be cheering for Mboko, but I won't be disappointed in Muchova wins.

I'm really looking forward to this match. As a Canadian tennis fan, Mboko's meteoric rise has been a joy to watch.

I don't know if Muchova will ever win a slam but I don't think there is a more enjoyable player on the WTA side to watch when she's on. No one else plays with her variety. If she can stay healthy, she's gonna be a problem all season.

Mboko is so impressive. What a talent. Sky's the limit. Proud Canadian.

I like them both a lot and feel I haven't seen quite enough of Mboko's rise (hasn't had much time for viewing this week, for instance). What's your favorite part of her game these days? And is it time for us to not be surprised if she finds herself in a slam final this year already?

Her movement, forehand, tennis iq, drop shot ability, demeanor & competitiveness are very impressive. I'm not sure about a slam this year, but future slam, yes.

I don't feel she'll be a flash in the pan, 1 time slam winner the way fellow Canadian Bianca Andreescu was either.
