Present. It's been a roasty toasty 2 days on the metal bleachers. Great conditions for players. i'll give you more later. It was so hot had to leave a match I was totally looking forward to mid first set. Priscilla Hon and Renata Zarazua. Hon has one of the smoothest serves ever. Zara gives you a little Bethany M Sands vibe with a nice little fun game.

Impressives for me first 2 days - NBartinkova and DGalfi - a surprise was DayanaYaz practicing behind me with one of the lighter hitters from my region on this blue marble, KVolynets - and something u don't see every day. Four gals on one practice court with one at the net, off hand behind back, hitting backhand volleys.

Will Naomi complete her R2 match?
How is she seeded so high? What has she done in the past year?

Got break that two-handed WTA backhand habit!

^ But Zakharova ain't bad player at all!?? (And what a super-cute service motion she has! )

Who on Earth is Urhobo???

Interesting to see what tall and powerful recent junior-star Lilli Tagger can achieve. Gracheva should be quite good meter for her level.

Ouch, Katie lost in 3.

Galfi & Hon both bounced in straights.

Hunter, Townsend, & Parry qualified.

It’s amazing to recognise the longevity of someone like Serena winning slams for so long when you see athletes like Kenin and Sloane Stephens still at it despite accomplishing nothing for so long since their one slam wonder. Both not at all the favourites to simply win a 1R match here and just sticking it out.

So, yesterday, Boulter to the left of me, PHon to the right. No sooner had I uttered Boulter could make a mini run here, she, incredibly, loses the next 2 sets. Crazy upset to a player I did not know. Boulter would have beaten CMcNally in the first round and then against Naomi in the 2nd ... PHon lost 5 and 5 straights in a winnable match. Obviously so close each set. She's a fun underdog to root for. So likeable. And, of course, that serve. Almost forgot this. I'm obsessed with the towel boxes. How do you know which one's yours? What if u grab the wrong towel? Yuk. Yesterday PHon did a cool thing I'd never seen. She was switching her rackets serving /returning in the second set. She placed the replaced racket in the towel box if it wasn't a changeover. I was thinking I bet that's illegal - keep **** out of the towel box rule - very cool nonetheless.
