She said Petrova was controlling the match. What more do you want? You know Serena never gives complete credit, so it's not like this is some new phenomenon. And every time it's the same people saying the same stuff. Get over it. She lost, she gave Petrova credit, move on and get over it.

It is one of the 3 biggest wins of her career, and the biggest win she's had vs Serena. Again, attacking Serena for nothing, making a mountain out of a molehill.

Another misstatement of the facts. We are not, as you falsely claim, "attacking Serena for nothing." ......... We are attacking Serena for WHAT SHE ACTUALLY S-A-I-D.

Do you understand the difference? ..... I mean really ... do you?

She said Petrova was controlling the match. What more do you want? You know Serena never gives complete credit, so it's not like this is some new phenomenon. And every time it's the same people saying the same stuff. Get over it. She lost, she gave Petrova credit, move on and get over it.

My. Aren't you the bossy one!?!?!?

I told you what I want in my previous two posts, but for some reason you choose to ignore those parts.

you are right that it is not a new "phenomenon." It is an actual personality trait of Serena that she reveals FREQUENTLY in post-match interviews in which she is the
15_4_112.gif
, NAMELY, a very unattractive trait of "me, me, me ..... it's all about me." AS IN when Nadia Petrova beats her today, she says of the person to whom she LOST that she "has never played so good.” IOW beating Serena today is the best match Nadia has EVER played! Is there anyone who believes serena actually knows anything about nadia's career outside of her matches against serena?!?

IOW, it's all about Serena! Even Nadia's winning this one round in the China Open is, according to Serena Williams, the highlight of Nadia Petrova's entire career. It seems that when serena opens her mouth as the loser in a post-match interview, she's only able to come to terms with that loss by lessening its value by claiming she :has never played so good.”

hint: a lot of people find that unattractive characteristic self-serving, self-involved, and self-important .......... I'm sorry you dont agree, obviously the only thing we can agree on is that serena williams is no longer a player here at the China Open ....

ts's obvious we'll just have to agree to disagree, rather than subject other members to an endless and useless he-said-she-said that would hijack the thread.

Livetv4ever, channelsurfing, ustream, atdhe, justin.tv, sopcast, tennistv.. none of them have that match. I'm even trying to get help from folks on that WTA forum. Blasted Beijing event. HORRIBLE lines judges, terrible air quality, sometimes rude/uneducated fans, and I can't find a feed showing a top 5 player vs an up and comer in the QF of a Premier Mandatory event?!?!

Based on the "live" scores on tennis.com Kuzzy is two points away from victory. Still a good run for Pavlyuchenkova and hope to see more results like this from her next year. Of course this assumes Kuzzy takes care of business which is not always a given with her.

Kuzzy wins 6-3 6-3. Good going, girl!

Radwanska is hitting the ball so cleanly and consistently... and is about to take out Dementieva in straight sets.

Radwanska 7-5, 5-3 and serving for the match

Radwanska in straight sets 7-5, 6-3

Bring on Nadal/Safin!

Zvonareva takes the 1st set against her puppet Bartoli 6-3. I think Bartoli was up 3-1, but she always crumbles against Zvonareva. If history repeats itself, its a bagel or breadstick by Zvonareva next.

Zvonareva is just toying with Bartoli. This is Zvonareva when all cylinders are in motion. :)

I hope she grinds Bartoli into a fine powder

She's up 4-1 in the 2nd and already took the first 6-3

5-1 Vera... and then Vera headcase kicks in

Bartoli about to tie it up 5-5 in set #2

Zvonareva to serve for the match 6-3 5-2.

Mini-choke. Bartoli breaks. Still 5-3 Vera.

Bartoli in a groove. 5-4 Vera. Vera to serve.

Uh-oh. This is getting interesting. Bartoli is dominating the points.

5-5 now. Why does Vera find herself in these situations so often? She didn't choke but she gave Bartoli time to compose herself.

I lost the feed to the match. When I got the feed back, I see Bartoli takes the 2nd set. From 1-5 to 7-5. Bartoli played really good in pulling herself together. Now can Vera find her groove for the 3rd? Vera is better conditioned, but Bartoli has all the momentum at the moment.

Bartoli holds 1-0. 7 straight games won by Bartoli. If Vera somehow wins this event, she'll clinch making Doha.
Bartoli breaks 2-0. I haven't see Bartoli this aggressive and accurate....EVER!

3-0 Bartoli. Bartoli is playing great. Still, what exactly happened after 5-1 in the 2nd set to Vera? She was relaxed and on fire. The only flaw I could see was she didn't really try to finish off the set at that point and assumed she could serve it out. In the world of WTA, you're better off breaking to win.

Bartoli up 5-2. Vera to serve to stay in match.

This is an unbelievable comeback by Bartoli. This isn't even a meltdown by Zvonareva as she's dominated the tempo of the match with some well-placed shots and winners. I'm impressed and I don't even like Bartoli. Hoping for a miracle, Vera. Her name means faith in Russian, so I've got to stand by her.

Bartoli wins 3-6 7-5 6-2. Vera could have determined her own fate for the YEC. Better do well in Moscow then...

jamesblakefan#1, let them beat off to this meaningless win. It's not as though Petrova matters at all, won a slam this year, or has a prayer to win one in 2010. Some people love supporting career losers for all of the wrong reasons...starting with the detail that the player is a loser.

The semi-finals have 0 girls I'm an avid fan of. I'm unofficially a Kuzzy fan, but that's not much to get excited over.

That's exactly what happened in her match against Flavia, though, at the USOpen...she was in a winning position, and then played tentative instead of finishing things off with the same play that put her in the winning position to start with.

Sorry to hear she lost...I really enjoy watching her when she's playing well.

According to Venus, she has quaified for singles and doubles, but I thought others, like Vera, could still overtake her. But I am happy that Venus gets a chance to defend her title.

HAHAHA my god. Zvonareva is back to her old ways. Gosh I think she's worst than Petrova. Biggest headcase and drama queen I've ever seen.

Here have some tissues and go bawl in the lockeroom.

This is suppose to be the next big thing in Russia? Please go back to where you belong Vera (top 30 or so).

^^^Uh, no, Vera is not supposed to be the next big thing from Russia...she's a tour veteran.

Pavyluchenkova (I just butchered that spelling horribly I'm sure) is probably more likely the next big 'Russian' thing.

I think Kelybanova will be an even bigger player than Pavyluchenkova (sp?)

I'm sorry but at the end of last year, alot of people jumped into the Zvonareva bandwagon. But she was always a headcase while some thought she would no longer be a choker. Laughable at best.

But I do agree that Pavy could also be a force to be reckoned with.

I've been on the Vera bandwagon for a long time...it was nice to see her play up to her potential finally at the end of the year.

The game is there, her head is still too screwy.

^^^If Venus and Serena play doubles at the YEC, would it be the first time? Anyone know?

Yes it would be their first time playing doubles there, they are ranked 3 in doubles at the moment.

Also, YEC UPDATE - Azarenka & Venus have clinched the 6th & 7th berths for Doha.

The 8th and final spot has yet to be decided and it could go down to the wire.

The 5 contenders are

8. Jankovic - 3660 (+ 50 for Beijing) = 3710

9. Zvonareva - 3301 (+ 250 for Beijing) = 3551

10. Pennetta -3060 (+ 140 for Beijing) = 3200

11. Bartoli - 2715 (+ 450 for Beijing so far) = 3165
if she reaches final (+700) = 3415
if she wins final (+1000) = 3715

12. Radwanska - 2690 (+ 450 for Beijing so far) = 3140
if she reaches final (+700) = 3390
if she wins title (+1000) = 3690

All are playing in Moscow/Linz so this should go down to the wire. Bartoli and Radwanksa really need to win Beijing to have any hope though to qualify.

Kuznetsova leads 6-1 5-3. Petrova serving. Seems Petrova has been in headcase mode after Kuzzy broke for the 4-3 lead.

Kuzzy had triple match point but Petrova saves them. Deuce.

6-1 6-3 Kuzzy advances.

Radwanska vs Bartoli

Excellent!

Radwanska took set#1 6-4 :)

Aggie is really looking fit, lately. For awhile there she looked a bit on the thin side.

I fance Aggy's chances in this match, she has the ability to make Kuzzy press a little too much, plus its a final, which Kuzzy has 'issues' with sometimes,

Congrats Kuznetsova! :) 3rd title of the year. She's actually 3-1 in finals this year after 0-5 last year.

She wore the black ribbon to honor a friend that recently died. You did your friend and your fans proud. GG Sveta.
