WOW....Jankovic's section is just.....
no words can explain that
Now that is rigging a draw right there

Oh I just noticed; 5 qualifiers in one section of the draw? That has to be a record. Jankovic will screw it up somehow though.

Good to see Lisicki back from injury.

Jankovic is so frustrating to watch. She plays way too passive, has poor forehand and usually gets blasted off court by some red hot ball basher. A loss to Azarenka or even Rezai wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Poor Ana, facing that evil shrieker Azarenka in R1. I hope she wins, tennis loses everytime Azarenka wins.

Even with Jankovic being hurt her draw to the semi's is not that strong. Firstly, 5 Qualifiers in 1 section??? What is up with that, its insane, and then another 4th only has 1? how is that an even distribution? Schiavone isn't that big a threat, she hasn't played well since winning the French. Rezai...ehhhh, hasn't really played well since Madrid. Even though Azarenka just had a good run she is still sloppy, so Jankovic can hopefully at least make the Semi's and not lost a ton of points.

Kim's section is a little trickier, Pennetta is tough, Zvonareva although she retired with an injury from doubles in her last tournament is still not to be underestimated since she beat Kim at Wimbledon. Petrova may also be dangeorus if she plays well. I'm pulling for Kim here though.

In the bottom Half Elena has a pretty easy section and if she isn't serving terribly, Na is the only one I can see beating her before the Semi's. In Fact I think Elena has a great chance the finals.

Pulling for Elena for Kim for the trophy...but we'll see.

The whole Jankovic section is a COMPLETE JOKE, winner of Vika+Ana will take a joy ride into the semis.

Sharapova vs Kuznetsova??? Who made this draw? No seedings??

There are seedings, both of them are just ranked low so they didn't earn one good enough to get a bye. I don't even think Kuznetsova is top 20 at the moment. There are only 8 seeds with byes, and all top 10 players (well Li may be number 11) snapped them up. If they were doing better, one of them might have been seeded better. Its a bad first round for both of them though, especially considering 2 first round matches consist of 2 qualifiers, but it is what it is. I don't think either of them could win this even if they were seeded better anyway.

Ivanovic can't get any luck can she drawing Azarenka.

Yeah, that's three bad draws in a row (meeting Bartoli, Peer and now Azarenka early).

This is the problem when a player's ranking is low. Never gets seeded and needs the luck of the draw to win a couple matches & regain confidence.

Snowball effect.

Still a graceful and fun player to watch though. Hope she finds a way out of her funk.

Interesting, I thought there were places specifically allocated to qualifiers. This draw shatters that notion or at least suggests that qualifiers are all placed in the first seed's section, much like human hearts placed at the altar of an Aztec god.

Happy that Rezai was upset, but sad that Jankovic now has to only play qualifers to the quarterfinals. Lucky b*tch ....hate her

Ahahaha Azarenka choked serving for the match. Go Ana! :)

Ahaha Ana takes the tie break. Thanks for the choke Vika.

I live outside DC, and I have attended LM for several years. Look up past threads I've started, and you'll see a few years of LM blogs!

Cincy will be new for me this year...and we're driving. Ugh!!! :)

(have tentative plans for Wimby next year...going to be in nursing school next fall so getting it all in now!)

Sounds absolutely fabulous! Hope you can blog from Cincy too:D

Are you planning to stay thru the atp next week? :?:

seems like azarenka had a meltdown like kuznetsova last week, except she couldnt pull it together. good for ana, hopefully this begins to put her on track

I hope Ana wins this tournament. Her draw just got a little easier. If she can improve after today, she can make a good run.

Great win Ana, but from what I´ve seen from her in the last couple of years she´ll loose to Shvedova or Schiavone.

I thought Ivanovic was toast after the first set. Great win. Whether or not Azarenka melted is of no consequence. Ivanovic should take confidence from this victory and push on for more.

Christina McHale on the verge of upsetting Petrova. Up 7-6, 5-3 now serving for the match.

And Petrova RETIRES?! What a load of crap. McHale wins via retirement. Biggest win of her career. Horrible stuff from Petrova to retire there.

I always find it funny when players retire 1 game from defeat. LOL

"Gee, my shoulder really hurts, maybe it will go away if I keep playing...damn it's still hurting but heck I'll keep going...(match game) oh it's just too much I can't go on"
