WTA Indian Wells 2025

Well… let’s not forget that is exactly what Keys did at the Aus Open.

She beat Swiatek and then Sabalenka back to back in the SF and Final. And that was for a slam!

And then look at how she just fared yesterday against Sabalenka for the rematch. Let’s not base one or two matches and decide if it cements someone.

I’m not downplaying Andreeva, I’ve been speaking and hyping her for 2 years. But beating #1 Sabalenka and #2 Swiatek isn’t something new as Keys did it barely 2 months ago and that didn’t exactly turn great today.
yeah, but this girl is 17....would be far more impressive to me than a hardened veteran of a decade who was in a slam final years before...great achievement by Keys, never thought she could do it, but nobody is thinking this is now the player that will take over the game ...Andreeva is years younger than Sabs and Iga and has a long runway ahead of her with no one around her age that's anywhere near as good as her or accomplished...Gauff is four years older but is not better than Andreeva now...if she's not a future #1 with multiple majors I'd be stunned

Well, it's already pretty impressive to make back-to-back Masters 1000 finals.
I don't expect Mirra to trouble the world nº 1 in this kind of form. But all things considered she probably made the best start of the year (other than perhaps Keys?).

It's also great to see Conchita Martínez happy and fulfilled, their sarcastic/affectionate relationship is a gem.

The weather and the wind wrack havoc since last week. I wonder how different the tournament could be if the weather would be better. The ball is kinda unpredictable, so basically the one who could adapt better would win the match. I would go crazy in this circumstances.
I used to watch Indian Wells on TV back in the 90s and early 2000s and I don't remember this kind of unpredictable weather. Perhaps it wasn't at this time of the year back then?
I just remember players sweating profusely.

Not to defend Swiatek cause that looked bad but the ball didn't hit the kid, we've seen players literally hit balls kids with their recklessness and not get punished.

But I will say she's really not endearing herself to the fans of the tour. While Sabalenka, Keys and Andreeva are highly marketable and funny/charasmatic, Iga just keeps doing this crap.
What was her problem? Any idea what she was going on about with the chair?

Between our two most likeable WTA players (wink, wink): Iga and QinwenZ. Who would you rather root to win :D
I read somewhere today from a highly reputable news source (Daily Express USA) that Qinwen allegedly refused to feed lobs during practice to her opponent (Kostyuk). That's a new height of likeability factor.

I strongly condemn Sinophobia - as popular as it may be (wink, wink).

The unknown (to me) pair Asia Muhammed/Demi Shuurs have won the IW dubs. Both pairs of finalists were unseeded. En route, AM/DS took out the number 3 seeds Errani / Paolini & the number 1 seeds Townsend / Siniakova. This article gives a bit of ackground about the winners, in case of interest.

Errani not to be denied though, winning the mixed title with Vavassori, as the top seeds.

This is not sinophobia. I used to root for her until I found out what a nice person she is. (wink, wink). I even started questioning Navarro after that little clash they had. Turned out Emma was right all along.
So you claim to know for sure what happened between Navarro and Zheng (in the locker room)? Your source the "Daily Express" again (wink, wink)?

Sort of. Since you mocked the daily express that I myself sarcastically quoted ...

Seems like her legal team might have asked SI to take it down.

Shocking result in this Sabs vs Keys match. Outch.
Not shocking at all. Sabalenka is is one of the most formidable, talented female players of the past decade, and she always means business.
All credit to Sabalenka, she's a bad ass. Full stop.
Without a doubt.

Swiatek....with every passing tournament, she stops pretending she is anything other than a violent, PED addled, habitually cheating, entitled low point for professional tennis.

Sabalenka made it look easy. Everything was working for her - serves, returns, defense, drop shots, ...
Let's see if there will be any momentum switch.

This is a good learning experience for Andreeva.
She's not winning any of the important, possibly match-turning points, and that's something she will eventually incorporate in her game.
She's incorporating all these elements at a much younger age than any of her current rivals and it can only benefit her in the coming years.
You're always gonna have a bad final, better get it out of the way now.
