yeah, but this girl is 17....would be far more impressive to me than a hardened veteran of a decade who was in a slam final years before...great achievement by Keys, never thought she could do it, but nobody is thinking this is now the player that will take over the game ...Andreeva is years younger than Sabs and Iga and has a long runway ahead of her with no one around her age that's anywhere near as good as her or accomplished...Gauff is four years older but is not better than Andreeva now...if she's not a future #1 with multiple majors I'd be stunnedWell… let’s not forget that is exactly what Keys did at the Aus Open.
She beat Swiatek and then Sabalenka back to back in the SF and Final. And that was for a slam!
And then look at how she just fared yesterday against Sabalenka for the rematch. Let’s not base one or two matches and decide if it cements someone.
I’m not downplaying Andreeva, I’ve been speaking and hyping her for 2 years. But beating #1 Sabalenka and #2 Swiatek isn’t something new as Keys did it barely 2 months ago and that didn’t exactly turn great today.
