Wow, just looked at Vekic's wiki page and she's never made a QF at the 1000's tournaments. She's played 56 of them and not one QF.
Obviously we know she's been around a long while and is an Olympic Silver Medalist, SFist at Wimbledon last year and QFist at the AO in 2023 and USO in 2019.

Some good matches coming up for sure. I think Andreeva will take down Rybakina, and Bencic can certainly beat Gauff if she stays composed.
Kostyuk vs Zheng should be interesting, since Zheng is such a jerk and doesn't like losing to anyone, especially girls that are better looking than her.
Her game doesn't look all that different, but she just seems to have completely lost it mentally. Either that, or somebody figured out something subtle that works against her, and everyone else has started to copy it.

I could sort of see that, since Kostyuk is physically strong (like Sakkari) but mentally a little weak in pressure spots (like Sakkari, who is very weak mentally). I do think Kostyuk's tennis is a little better though, so that could help in the long run.
Sure, she can have an opinion, but it just sounds strange in context when a player is complaining about slow balls when they aren't an attacking player, or a player known for any sort of shot making.

It's not strange at all really. Because of that fuzz, the balls bounce higher, they come at different speed that they're expecting or used to at IW - that's enough to throw off some players rhythm, shots. Displeasure with unexpected surface change is not reserved for attacking players.
