The WTA will launch a unique WTA Livestreaming subscription service in 2017 where tennis fans can view every WTA singles and many doubles semifinals and finals matches.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: Why aren't WTA matches livestreamed on TennisTV any longer?

A: We're launching a new and exciting WTA livestream subscription service in 2017 dedicated to viewing women's tennis both on and off court.

There will be an unavoidable gap before we can make this exciting service available to subscribers via smartphones, laptops and tablets. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

Q: Why did the WTA decide to create a new service?

A: After the digital rights for the WTA Tour became available at the end of the 2016 season, we decided to take control of our story by streaming women's tennis on our own platform. While the platform gets built, there will be an inevitable delay, for which we ask your patience.

Q: When will the new service be available?

A: We are working hard to bring this service to you as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience and we look forward to welcoming you as a new subscriber when we launch WTA Livestreaming.

Q: Where will I find out more information about this service?

A: Updated information will be available on wtatennis.com.

Q: How can I view WTA matches via livestream until then?

A: In the meantime, please find up to date "Where to Watch" live WTA matches on your local broadcaster's TV and digital channels on the wtatennis.com/tv-schedule page.

We invite fans to follow the tour on the wtatennis.com web site which offers live results point by point, live press conferences at selected WTA events, live and exclusive off court and behind the scenes content, player-commented match and video highlights, and breaking news. Follow the tour in real-time on WTA social channels like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.

Q: How much is it to subscribe?

A: Updated information will be provided on wtatennis.com closer to launch date.

Q: Why should I subscribe to the WTA Livestreaming service?

A: Fans will have access to every singles match live and many doubles semifinals and finals matches. For the first time ever, fans can pick and choose from over 2000 WTA matches and follow their favorite players behind the scenes like never before. Subscribers can follow the thrill and fun on and off court day in and day out all season long. This is new and it's exciting.

Today I signed up for a month. Right now only through a web browser, app hopefully will be available on Monday when it officially goes live.

It has the ability to view up to 4 matches at a time. You can also limit it to just 2 if you want. Streaming was very good (this on an old Chromebook with 2gb ram). Even watching 4 at a time I didn't notice any buffering.

Don't know what the app will be available on yet (phones, AppleTV, Roku, Play Station, etc.) but so far the browser experience has been good.

$75 a year. I'll probably sign up for the year because the BeIN sports WTA offering is kinda crappy (they switched from a live match to something else just today). I let my Tennis Channel Plus expire so between this, TennisTV, ESPN through SlingTV (for the slams) I should be able to get my fill.

Damn $75 for half of tennis? I hope this works out for them but I will probably look elsewhere.

Hmm,
Is this imminent then? I can't see that on their website..
As said before might be worth it if they don't have the geo blocking that goes on with the ATP's tennisTV.
I hope the in browser experience is a bit more feature rich than tennistv. But at least tennistv's stability is spot on since the update at the start of the year.

75 bucks a year for a far inferior tour, only get 3 days for replays, and a low quality stream

Should have stayed on TennisTV. They will be lucky if they get a couple thousand people to buy this

ATP should get rid of shared tournaments with the WTA

The price itself is not bad, but we used to be getting these matches on tennis Channel or tennis TV. So it's an additional 75 to get the same tennis we were watching this time last year. maybe I'm looking at it wrong though

I think if tennis is your real passion though it's real value for money. The NBA service is much more expensive, and frankly I think that's also super value for money. I'm going to make the assumption that it will be an advantage to have the services split and in the end it will yield a better overall product but yes you will have to fork out more moneyz. It's barely as much as an extra night out, right?

$6.25 a month. Sounds like a deal to me.

yeah I am probably just more irritated with how the WTA handled this, & Bein coverage has been pretty horrid. Like I said, I hope it does work out. I'll actually be traveling for the next few months, but will give it a shot at some point next season.

Agree with that. Simon (WTA head) said it was going to go live in January. That's some pretty lame management to miss something by 7 months.

$75 per year is okay as long as there is no commercial and no commentators on the WTA matches! A live feed like on the monitors in the tournaments. It a go for me. I will try a month worth to see what it is all about! Hopefully, they have a free two week trial subscription.

So now it costs twice as much to watch everything?

TennisTV is too expensive for what you get as it is. Just put in all the old matches, work out a deal to have the slams on there too, keep the price the same, and you've got a deal.

People like shared tournaments and many promoters demand that.

TennisTV is great for when you are away from home or on holiday and you don't have access to Sports TV. Even when I'm at home I sometimes watch TennisTV because not all the ATP matches are broadcast on TV and I can also choose the matches I want to watch, not just the ones they broadcast.

You are right though; we are paying just as much for TennisTV without the WTA matches, as we used to pay for both ATP/WTA access.

Couple of years ago TennisTV had a combined package or you could buy ATP or WTA separately. At the time the ATP was around $85 and the WTA $75 (I think, memory not so good these days).
Now TennisTV is around $90 with no WTA and new WTA service is $75 so the price has gone up slightly for both. Still the combined package was around $30 a year cheaper.

WTA service too new but will be interested in what they don't show. TennisTV is not showing Washington this week (didn't show Atlanta either), says "not shown in your country". Tennis Channel and TC Plus is showing DC so I'm sure that's some contractual thing as they show other tournaments in the US. So if I want to watch ATP DC I'd have to do one month of TC Plus. WTATV is covering it.

As a side note, TennisTV and WTATV both will show around 2000 matches a year. Tennis Channel Plus shows around 650.

There will almost certainly be geoblocking in place, since those are the conditions under which the tours sell TV rights within individual countries. In the UK, WTA matches are currently carried by BT Sport, which is only available to BT broadband subscribers. I'm not going to change my ISP just to get women's tennis. It will be interesting to see if that places any restrictions on what the streaming service will carry.

One more about quality.
I HDMI to our big screen.
I rate the WTAtv quality esp. ball flight smoothness as better than TennisTV.
In fact I can't tell the difference to terrestrial.
TennisTV even in their new stable platform, is not this good..

TennisTV got better this year but you're right, it's still not great. I've been Chome casting WTATV this morning and it's still going strong - no buffering, clear picture.

I'm live now and still just as good.
Rock solid like Eurosport and tennisTV but smoother.

I do wish they'd incorporate a forward scroll button for on demand / Replay matches like tennis TV used to have, BUT don't show the progress bar so you never know if it's a 2 or 3 setter. Really kills it when you see the bar and then know there is only enough time for one more set.. so you know who's won.
Nice to skip through the sit downs.

Commentators seem okay so far. I don't mind quality commentating, no babble during the points etc.

TennisTV don't seem to have commentary on the 250s any more. Not even the an screen score at Atlanta. Perhaps the semis and finals will have..

Hehe, go and buy one or two Mac's at £300-1200 each to watch ****ty streams on (I have two laptops btw). Or spend £58 a year for official sub and all that functionality :)

I used to have Windows 8 and got malware quite a lot from pirate online viewing. Now I've got a MacBook Pro but I'm too scared to try these pirate websites again so I've never tried on my new laptop.

Mac is much more secure as long as you don't click on silly links and enter your password.

I've been using http://www.fromhot.com/ for sometime, never had any problems.

Also: http://cricfree.sc/

I have windows 10 though which has a decent firewall, maybe that helps.

Would like to hear different streaming sites btw.

Excellent

I watch cable via PSVue and they dropped BEIN Sports three months ago

Glad I have a way to watch now

Where did you sign up?

I didn't even see a link for the streaming service on the WTA site

Then again, I'm on my phone so....

There's a link embedded in the prose about it on the WTA website.
I couldn't find it until I looked on my laptop. Maybe I just missed it though.
There's no app in Google play store that I can see.
But I would not really watch on my phone or tablet, so that's okay by me.
I guess they will sort them out soon though.

I tried the link on my phone in google browser (Android phone) and signed in no problem. I could see all the on demand matches,
after much tapping (a simple tap on play in the middle of the screen or down on the controls bar did not work), dragging the progress bar a bit started the feed. Full screen is fine as is the quality.

I could not get the live the feed of the Jiangxi to start on my phone no matter what I tried..
I've got that running on my laptop and the Woz / Mertens replay running on my phone at the same time no probs.
The quality of the Jiangxi live feed looks well dodgy at the moment, but it's only a high view of the rain delay so perhaps they are saving bandwidth?

I noticed they also have multiscreen up to 4 screens you can drag other matches into. Not tried that yet. Splitting my brain 4 ways doesn't sound like a good idea. I know TennisTV has this of old - not sure it still does since the relaunch?

Live finals , that's my afternoon entertainment sorted.

Fun and games.

The official go live date is tomorrow (the 31st) and I still can't find anything about an app. Could be it's browser only:

There are NO blackout for any tournaments they broadcast. I like that.

Today's the 1st time where I can see some degradation in the picture. In looks a little fuzzy on laptop and casting for both Bastad and Jiangxi.

I'm watching Isner Muller on tennistv catch-up just now. Quality seems a bit better.
Caro Woz later wtatv after I've done some serious Strimmin'

After a couple of weeks watching the French open I tried to watch WTATV as usual browsing on my phone ondemand / live.
I noticed a new look to the website.
I then went to Chromecast as usual (been doing this for ages now)..
Only to find the Chromecast icon / option is missing..

I sent an email to their customer support to see what's happened..

Here's the response I got

"Thank you for your email.

Please be informed that, our website has not been officially tested on TV or other devices.

I am afraid to say that you will not be able to mirror/airplay/cast from any mobile device to any smart tv. Because our site is not compatible.

Please also be informed that the casting the WTA is not yet made available using other devices. You can access the WTA site using any of the browser.

Our site does not have casting feature unfortunately. Our site can be accessed only in laptop/pc, mobile devices.

Please let us know if we can be of any other further assistance.

Best regards,

Customer Services

So it was working perfectly with a Chromecast button. Now it's gone.

I've followed them up on this as I struggle to believe they thick their service is viable without it.

I wonder if offering Chromecast costs? Are they cost cutting?

I won't be renewing my subscription if this doesn't get fixed.
