Wow, strong result for Oudin. She just had another great turn in Fed Cup, too.

She's definitely in pretty good form ATM, and I suspect she'll be popular with the French fans eventually. I heard one of the male commentators mentioning the words "petite" and "jolie" .... very important of course! :p

Swiss Miss Patty Schnyder just beat Frenchwoman Virginie Razzano 63 76

Another disappointment from Virginie. :-?

But I'm rooting for Aravane anyway. A win here would be great for her. But the road to the title is not an easy one, with the top 3 seeds standing in her way in all likelihood, and/or the red-hot Oudin.

Well, at least I will have something to watch while snowed in (again!)...I'm sure someone is streaming this, yes?

Good thing they changed the name from "global warming" to "climate change," eh? ;)

Tuesday they were showing the Paris matches @ http://www.livescorehunter.com/Livescores/Livescore-Tennis.html where they put up links shortly before each match begins. Just now, they're showing that they will have links to the Aravane Rezai match, which is the first match of the day! :)

^^ Thanks for the pics, LG. Did you watch the match? Impressions?

Meanwhile, Yanina seem to have trouble getting past Martic :-?

Martic was super impressive. She'll be around for a long time if that performance is anything to go by.

Unbelievable.

Oudin has a shot at going to the semis now that both seeds are out of her quarter. I think this can be the torunament that will turn around her slow start to the season

Gotchya, thanks for the update. The previous post had me thinking she got through, just had trouble doing so.

Hopefully Oudin takes advantage of this! I think she will.

Wickmayer reminds me of Del Potro. Even her body is similar.
Great match today, even though she lost.

damn, just picked wicky at 1-2 in 3rd, damn delays!!!

doesn't matter anyways, no one is watching the matches, stands are 60/70% empty.

Im really rooting for Shahar as well, i hope she can make it to at least the semis, but she will most likely have to get by Schiavone, which will be tough considering shes in great form recently

youre welcome! :) ...... I was doing something else at the time, just watched with one eye, but according to the announcers Aravane was serving extremely well and rodina just managed to hang in the first set. Second set she got broken by rodina and had her coach come for a visit, then broke back and won the second.

Martic had a medical time out to get her left thigh wrapped, and the announcers were wondering why wickmayer wasn't testing it by trying to move her around. here's a post-match quote from yanina: "I was super super tired today. I had a very hard weekend, playing in Fed Cup, so it was very hard for me," Wickmayer said. "She played a very good match. I tried everything I could but my legs weren't there. She was just too good. That's how it is, that's tennis. You win some, you lose some, and today I lost."

========= for some reason, the website is showing a picture of Ana in the SI Swimsuit edition ...

Suprising that nobody has voted Schiavone to win this tournament!
If Lena can't take this tournament home this year either then I expect either Schiavone or Rezai to win.
I believe Rezai will improve her rankin further this year... :)

Yeah id say Schiavone is expected to come out of her half of the draw, i dont think her fellow teamate Flavia has anything to hurt her

That is true...she did a lot of playing over the weekend. I like her, I like her a lot...she has a great game and seems to have a great head on her shoulders, too. I'm sure she'll bounce back pretty quickly, and how exciting is it to have 3 strong Belgium players?!?

I've heard from different sources that Martic was playing at a very high level. She's still young and possibly on the rise. Looking forward to see her play. And yes, I think it's OK for Yanina to be a bit tired after her Davis Cup weekend, I forgot about that.

About Aravane, I'm about to repeat myself, but a win here on home soil would be great for her. She's beginning to get some popularity here, and she seems to like it.

Keep dreaming  lol Rezai has a long way ahead of her if she wants to win this

Of course, I've said as much in my previous post. But she's been really improving the last couple of months with her new coach, she's the #5 seed. If she can beat Elena, she has a good shot at the title.

Flavia has already beaten her in two easy sets in Auckland this year! And has beaten Francesca in their two previous meetings, so "on paper" should be very able to hurt her.
Well, before we get to that match, Francesca must beat Safarova that seems to make their match very even...

Berdych's GF raking now ..... she's up the double break 4-1, nothing Schiavone can do atm.

Sorry to hear about Patty losing-I had a feeling she would. Great picture of Amelie-she really is a pretty woman.

Shahar has started the year well, and looks to be in good form. I hope she continues playing well. If not her, I want Elena to win, she is my favorite atm (along with Shahar) and after that epic match with Justine at AO (best match I've seen this year, including the men matches) I think she deserves to finally win some big ones.

I agree, but I just hope Shahar and Melanie make it to the finals, Oudin hasnt had a great year yet and i want her to start getting some more confidence, and Shahar deserves it

Yeah, especially when she's not feeling well, too. I hope she has something left for her next match!

She's the 'comeback' kid! I loved the talk she had with her coach after the 2nd set...he was asking if she was ok and she smiled, nodded, and said yes as if 'heck yeah, I can go forever!'.

Edit - Lordie, she is really sick...has almost no voice in the post match interview!!! Up next, Dementieva!!! Oh oh, payback time!
