i guess i was wrong, Safarova broke Pennetta at 4-4 and is now serving at 5-4. Good luck Falvia

This is just Lucie's week so far .......... now she's into the Finals! :D
I guessed Elena for the championship, but I wouldnt mind if Melainie beat her today ....... tho I don't really think that's gonna happen ...

Set 3 has the making of a break-fest. First three games broken.

Oudin up.. a hold. 2-1.

Yet another break.. 2-2 ED to serve.

Lena holds. Oudin serving 2-3.

Lena breaks with a lucky net cord. 4-2 Lena.

Lena holds 5-2.

Oudin finally holds. She looks tired, but now makes Dementieva serve to close it out. 5-3 Lena.

Lena closes it out with a nice bh volley.

How do they still not have challenge system at some of these premier events? That shot from Dementieva at 0-15 was definitely in.

Oh well, net chord evens it up to give Dementieva the break 4-2.

Elena was in the final last year, but it was Amélie who won the title. ;)

oops brain fart  ... hello! how could I forget? I posted some pics of her retirement party here and knew then that she won it! :( ah well, how quickly some of us forget! premature alzheimers!

melanie had that one in the bag, if she just held at 3-3 i think this could have been a different story

Also the UEs ... melanie's 52 to elena's 39 ... and they both had the same number of winners. melanie's coach mentioned to her about cutting down the errors, but knowing what to do and doing it are of course two very different things. There were several times in this match that I thought Mel would win it, but Lena's class came thru in the end.

Very entertaining match yesterday between Dementieva and Oudin. Melanie Oudin continues to impress me. It isn't just her fight that's impressive anymore. The girl's got serious game.

Anyone watching the final? Both players are active and try to put a lot of pressure on the opponent, it's an entertaining match to watch. Safarova 3:2 in the third set, on serve.

Safarova looks either worried or in pain. Very close (and interesting) match. Lucie serving to stay in the match.

Lena's got an MP

Lena finally closes it out. Her 1st time winning Paris. 16th career title. GG!

Good fight from Safarova. Hope this will get her on the right path.

A good fight from Lucie, indeed. I hope she can repeat the performance (along with beating both Italian No. 1 and 2, as she did in this tournament) in Fed Cup.

Nice win for Dementieva but she started out really slow in the quarters, semis and the final. If it were better opposition would have been really hard for her to stage a comeback and win.

I'm happy for Dementieva, I like one of her coaches, little guy like me. Harold Soloman

Another high quality match. Great win for Dementieva. Probably the best serving display I've ever seen from her. Hopefully, she can keep that level up.

I just wonder how much easier she could have made it on herself if she had more confidence hitting DTL off her BH. Safarova was doing a great job controlling the middle of the court with that big lefty FH just waiting for the short crosscourt BH return. Fortunately, Dementieva's one of the fastest and fittest women on tour. Not too many other women on the tour could have run down those shots.
