Qualifying is done. Players who qualified:

Petra Martic
Eugenie Bouchard
Vania King
Annika Beck
Sofia Arvidsson
Andrea Petkovic
Monica Puig
Jana Cepelova
Polona Hercog
Anna Tatishvili
Marina Erakovic
Karin Knapp

Nice to see Alisa Kleybanova back on the tour following her cancer scare. She has a 1st round match against Sofia Arvidsson later today!

Vika is back! :)
Likely first round against Kiki - Queen of Hard is back after her one and only loss on hard court this year, expecting to see Victoria at her best this week in the lead up to the US Open.

Also - amazing to see the 16 seeds made up of the top 16 ranked players in the world. Hoping for no injuries/withdrawals! Says something about how awesome Cincy is I guess.

Should be a cracking tournament, hoping for a ReRe upset in R2.

Strong is beautiful.

You shut your pie hole!!! (Or unplug your keyboard. Or drop your phone or whatever...) I paid big bucks to come to this tournament, and my main goal is to
pay homage to the Lion out of Compton, and I want to bask in Her glory as long as possible!

Let's see what seems worth to look at today... Kuznetsova-Stosur at 1PM. Not bad. Venus still makes through the first part of the night session, but it feels painful for her, you can tell she likes to play tennis but no longer compete for the trophies. Hard to see her slowly fading away like this... :-|

EDIT: Other than that, I can't really notice good matches on the women side today.

I wish I'd seen her match in Toronto. Winning the first set 6-0 shows she still has game, but her stamina is gone. Will be pulling for her this week.

Matches I'll have a keen eye on today:

Stosur vs Kuznetsova
Stephens vs Martic
Cepelova vs V. Williams
Puig vs Bouchard (of course!)

I can't wait for the Puig/Bouchard match (not for that reason...) I'd love to see Puig kick on after Wimby. She had a fine tourny.

After winning the 1st set in a tiebreak (7-3), Lauren Davis is now serving for the match up 5-2 in the 2nd. Great stuff from the young American!

Zakopalova breaks again to even the set at 5 all, but then Davis breaks right back. Yet another chance for Davis to serve out the match. Hopefully she can hold her nerves this time.

Davis finally pulls it out in the tiebreak, dominating it 7-1. She'll face Na Li in the next round.

Meanwhile, Stosur is dominating Kuznetsova as she leads 5-0 in the 1st.

Stosur keeping her good form from Carlsbad. Not even playing her best, but still cruising. Sveta was kind of lackluster but turning it up a bit now

Catching the end of Hingis/Hantchucova vs Flavia/Anabel. Tiebreak yay! Hingis playing well

American qualifier Vania King gets the straight sets win over Kristina Mladenovic, 6-3 6-4. Perfect day for the American women so far.

Speaking of American women, Sloane Stephens is getting her match underway against Petra Martic. It's 1 all early in the first set.

Sloane is looking good. Found myself rooting for her even though I dont't like her. Guess I'm a real "merican" lol

Kirilenko complaining about line call tells ump "this lady cannot see!" lol. I've seen players complain about her before

I've got tickets to the women's semis.

I hope to see Serena and Azerenka play. Would be great for it to be Sharapova-Azerenka for one semi.

I don't have that much hope though since it's so close to the US Open. Top players may not want to extend themselves too much.

That's why I came for the whole thing. I want to make sure I see them all!

Serena hasn't won this before, so maybe she'll try....

Stephens finishes off Martic in 3 sets, 6-2 3-6 6-3. Unfortunately for her, she has no time to breathe as she's got Sharapova in the next round.

This Kirilenko/tatishvili match is great! Best I've seen so far. Just finished tiebreak. One more set to go.

Qualifier Marina Erakovic defeats Carla Suarez Navarro in straight sets, 6-3 6-4. She'll face Kvitova in the 2nd round. That means there's a 50/50 chance she advances to the 3rd round! :P

It's sad that somebody has to lose this match. Rooting for Makiri, who just drew first blood in the third. Tatiahvili requested on court coaching lets see how it goes. Omg how is this girl ranked 112???

Kirilenko prevails over Tatishvili in what sounds like a thriller, according to Vanhool, 4-6 7-6(4) 7-6(4).

Also, after losing a tight 1st set in a tiebreak, Kerber cruised through the next two sets 6-0 6-1. She'll face the winner of the Arvidsson/Kleybanova match, which is on right now. Arvidsson won the first set 6-4 but is now down in the 2nd 2-4.

It was!!! Even the guys who came to gawk at Kirilenko (I'm not making it up, I heard them) were gasping and cheering at the shots which were relentless on both sides. Sadly Makiri has a taped up knee and was a little stiff when walking between points toward the end (though she played just fine). Hopefully she'll be top shape for her next round.

Venus up next. Whether it's with her shotgun or her hickory switch, Granny Williams is gonna punish this whippersnapper.

I wouldn't count on anything from Venus these days. Not a thing.

Yep, I think Venus is just about done. Hopefully she makes some kind of a run at the US Open so she can go out with a bang, if she does decide to retire that is.

Williams woke up from her nap, but now it's starting to rain. Hope no delay

Edit: she holds! Mostly hickory switch, but she pulled out her shotgun a few times toward the end
