Serena played sub-par in Canda and won without losing a set. she will tank Cincy, I hope she does. those old GOAT legs need to be rested when she goes for her second major this year ...

There's no upset regarding Kvitova. I think on a good day, I could even beat her, depending on which Kvitova shows up.

The Wozniacki-Nicolescu match is going at a turtle's pace. It seems like it started ages ago and it's only 4-3 Nicolescu in the 1st. Nicolescu is serving up a break though.

Not watching just following my app. She has like 11 or 12 double faults and rarely holds serve. Her serve used to be dominant.

I saw the match she wasn't horrible. You just can't think of her as goat candidate Venus. Carob tastes ok if you don't try to pretend its chocolate.

I get that her fans are disappointed, but she's living her life the way she wants. If you love her just be supportive as she tries to conquer her illness. At least she's not a quitter.

This. I swear some people here are clueless as to what makes a true champion. It's the heart. Venus is showing some heart by still going out there and competing, even when she doesn't have a chance in hell anymore. If anything, she's doing her family proud.

Trust me romeo, I don't think anyone (besides you, maybe) thinks any less of the Williams family because Venus is still playing.

Wow, after Ivanovic choked miserably against Cornet, Cornet herself is choking miserably against Rybarikova. She was serving ahead 6-3 5-2 but lost the 2nd set 7-5 and is now serving down 4-5 in the 3rd.

I'm cheering for Rybarikova, mostly because she's had herself a solid US Open series so far.

This part. Very much.

Some of us aren't even disappointed. As I've said about many of my favorites whose continuation in the sport has been or is subject to continuing debate *sigh* -- as long as they keep showing up, I will keep showing up.

Omg I have second row seats between base and service line for Hingis/Hanchucova vs Vinci/Errani!!! Didn't have time to get popcorn :(. This should be EPIC!!!:) :):)

Well done Sloane Stephens! I am impressed this girl is clearly the best of the young players on the WTA Tour! To beat Serena and Maria in the same year the best players in women tennis is extremely impressive! Yes, Maria was rusty BUT I give Sloane credit MOST young players would have found a way to lose the third set after getting the break! Sloane didn't choke she won! Very impressive Sloane!!!

Judging from your post history, I ... kind of thought you didn't like any of us Americans.

So -- it's just the boys you don't like?

:-)

(I mean, don't get me wrong - Johnny Isner would be nowhere near the top of a list of my favorites, and I think RH has a terrible temper. But I always root for Brian Baker and the Bryans ... and hope someone will remember there is such a thing as American men's tennis, LOL.)

Looked like the models were going to squeeze out the first set but the Italians snatched it from them. Great so far

Lol @ how Hingis thought she could come back and immediately win every tournament. Insulted the top doubles teams and now she can't even win more than 2 matches in a row.

Why are they only televising and livestreaming two women's matchs per day from Ohio whereas last week, in Toronto, there were a few different courts livestreamed? There were great three set women's matches with top players and none of them were televised or offered on livestream!

Look at the awesome second seed draw she got from Masha! This win will do a lot for her on many levels.

Sorry Vanhool, but I can't let this slide. Vika is the second seed. I know it can be confusing, as Vika is the true number one in all of our hearts :)

Oh, I just meant to get to the semis! Although after watching Errani play doubles yesterday I have more respect for her. If only she could get a serve!!

No worries Duncan, I fully expect our faves to face off in the finals! Vika didn't look that good in her first match, but then again she didn't need to be!....all the players seem a bit tired...our champions will lift their level as the tournament progresses to (hopefully) a queen vs princess showdown. Vika is the opponent I fear most for Serena. Eugenie gave me a little scare, but thankfully Serena seems to have cleaned out her closet after the Lisicki debacle and now has room for a new set of blonde wigs. I hope.

I was at TCs post match interview with Vika on Monday. She was asked who does her hair braids (she does). Told funny story about how her grandma used to do her pre match hair when she was a kid and it was like she had elaborate baskets on her head :)

JJ isn't as old as I thought she was. She's 28, so she still has some time left to win a major. She has better odds than Franny and Marion did and Li Na was unexpected as well, and she's right around the same age as they all were when they won a major
