Winner- Jelena Jankovic

Stephens has an attitude problem. Even when she was winning the 1st, her body language was terrible.

Exactly. Jelena beat her mentally. Once she got into her head, she made costly errors that caused her to lose the match.

The US media over-hyped her. It was a good and tight match, but she needs to maintain her composure.

Oh well..

Act cool calm and collected like Stephens and you have an 'attitude problem'.

Show passion, desire and hunger like Serena and you have an 'attitude problem'.

Oh I get it...

what the heck is wrong with TV coverage here? there are hardly any matches and some people call this Cincy mini slam?
And what's up with Radwanska? match just started and it's almost over

Stephens has an attitude problem.

She's been filled with this self-important crap that she will never earn, and is pouty when losing. It is clear she walks on the courts feeling she is "the one," despite her majors results saying something quite different.

She needs to work on her game, and stop being so vile on court.

I see what you're saying, but she's only 20 and got to the semis at the Australian Open and the quarters at Wimbledon this year. That's better than any other young player her age has done so she kind of as a right to walk on court with that kind of confidence. But yeah, she can't go overboard with the entitlement either.

Actually, Stephens has had an attitude problem toward Serena too. She'd be better off emulating Serena's great champion mentality than going full diva mode after 1 win when Serena was injured. She needs to go back to basics.

^^ Sloane needs to get it together in the non-major events. Too many events this year she's gone out early. Last thing she needs to do is live off slam points like Pironkova or Paszek.

Azarenka defeats Rybarikova 6-3 6-4. How was the match Vanhool?

Rybarikova (name auto corrects to run attack :)) came out firing aces, held and broke. I was getting concerned for duncanbell but hen Vika found her form. Some nice all court play from her. Good match, not great. Vika looking much better than her previous match.

Well, take Oudin after her U.S. Open run; she was filled with excitement over her victories, but she did not enter other events with a "watch out! I'm important because the USTA says so!" attitude. That latter description fits Stephens, and at present, she's not being instucted to tone down her behavior.

Yeah, managed to see Vika rolling on Ryba earlier.

Victoria's serve was all over the place again, but it doesn't matter as she's the best returner on tour. And I mean best at getting missiles back in play, and best at consistently dispatching powder-puff serves. So yeah, she got her stuff together and was breaking for fun in the second.

Caro's playing a little more aggressively than usual, hitting winners  Kitty isn't spraying errors like she has been known to. Actually a decent match so far.

Kvitova HAS to be making lots of errors though. I mean, there is no other way she could possibly lose to Wozniacki. Wozniacki has NOTHING for Kvitova.

Wozniacki wins 3-6 6-2 6-3. You talk about the errors like it's some sort of excuse for Kvitova. Whether she made a lot of errors or not, she still lost the match. To Wozniacki.

I guess you would know better. I watched the whole thing I person from the 3rd row. I guess it looks different here. It wasn't her usual error spray...it was more like errors caused by Caro taking it to her. Believe me I was surprised. Sadly they don't post the w/ue here or on my app. If someone has the stats I'd love to know.

Kvitova transformed from one with strong potential to a scattered, psychologically weak nutjob with no real dimension to her game.

Meanwhile, she hops into bed with a married man. Real class act.

Thanks for putting that disturbing picture in my head. Neither of them are much of a looker lol.

Serena takes it 6-4 6-1 and Halep upsets Stosur 6-4 4-6 6-2. With that, the quarterfinals are set.

[1]Serena Williams vs Simona Halep

[4]Agnieszka Radwanska vs [5]Na Li

[12]Roberta Vinci vs [14]Jelena Jankovic

[10]Caroline Wozniacki vs [2]Victoria Azarenka

Azarenka actually withdrew, so Wozniack will get a W/O and face the winner of the Vinci/Jankovic match in the semifinals. Bleh, that half of the draw blows.

Yes, overall I'd say it was entertaining. I was a little distracted at times due to exhaustion, ADD, drunk guys next to us wanting to chat (they were loving kvitty's footwork) and posting on the TTW! A changeover isn't enough time to finish a post, pages load slowly.

Really happy Caro was putting some heat on the ball and making some winners. Reminded me of when she beat Serena in Miami last year. Not a fantastic level of play but good and unexpected, which can throw one off. Hope she keeps it up. She's young and has plenty of ways to improve her game, however....

....it was kind of fascinating watching her interact with dad. We were in the third row behind him and over a little. After every single point and service fault she looked at him, no exaggeration. If you saw it on TV you probably wouldn't notice because its subtle. As she turns, her eyes pass by him and focus on him. Sometimes they rest on him briefly, sometime they move, but you can see/feel the focus.

Ok got to go for now. More fun stuff to report when I get time. On my way there now

Missed first set watching Serena practice. Was a bagel anyway. This one more closely contested. JJ surly with the ballboy. She turns her back, he heaves a big heavy sigh.

Some idiot sitting near the front yelled out out out out! Very disruptive Everyone glares in is mad he says "well it was out". Jj righty complains to ump who admonishes but point still to Vinci.

Edit: just to clarify, it wasn't me! :)

Meanwhile, in Sharapova land......Jimmy Conners got fired today by Maria. Apparently it was his fault that Sloane Stephens beat Maria. :)
