WTA Rankings Change?

I actually would prefer a version of this to operate at all times in the ranking system, on both the ATP and WTA tours, i.e. you should not be allowed to reach No 1 without holding a slam title.

That is an interesting idea.

Noone gets hurt and the incentive is that the players feel that they have actually earned the #1 by excelling where it matters most.

It may actually increase the value of getting that #1 ranking.
