We know how these week before a Slam tourneys go. Already seeing some withdrawals.

Adelaide draw

Andreeva & Keys are top 2 with byes.

Play begins in a little over 3.5 hours.

Hobart draw

32-player field, Raducanu/Kessler/Jovic lead the way. Venus has a WC.

Zarazua v. Baptiste up first in Hobart.

Emerson Jones v. America Emma & Mboko v. BHM in 30 from Adelaide.

@Fintft, we always have an active thread.

In Adelaide Jaqueline Crisitan beat WTA #10 Alexandrova, while Sorana Cirstea injured her ankle when winning the last qualifing match.

Peyton broken while serving for it against Krejcikova in a decider in Hobart. Camera angle is way too high there.

Jovic is destroying Tjen, has won the first 11 games.

These roofs really make for boring viewing, like watching them play in a greenhouse. Unchanging diffuse light. Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, all look the same.

Mboko locked in the struggle of a lifetime in gruelling 38 ball rallies against Kalinskaya. She's sprinting from side to side, smacking 150kmh forehand DTL winners and still has time to crack a smile in huge moments showing how much fun she is having out there. Mboko is one of the most likeable players on tour already and she is one of these players who draws you into her matches.

Mboko's hitting reminds me of.. Kalinskaya. Similar forehand(?) and good defense. Making Kalinskaya really run and go for it this deciding set. I'm sad that AK didn't beak out that developed at her earlier years as Mboko at 19 is doing now, and already won wta titles.

Kalinskaya's depth has been awesome. Phenomenal effort to break in that 11th game. She hit the deck multiple times and cuts all down her legs scrambling and scrapping. So much hustle when she is not standing in the baseline and dictating with heavy hitting. Gotta admit I want Mboko to take this but it's going to be hard from here.
